Abby's Thunderclap will be firing off at 12pm EST today, in just a little less than an hour from now.

I'm really excited about this event. Thunderclap is the newest resource is spreading the word about missing persons.

At noon today, more than a million people will be told via Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr that Abby is still missing.

This is the message that will go out. The link is to Abby's website, Bring Abby Home.

“ABIGAIL "ABBY" HERNANDEZ IS STILL MISSING! Please help raise awareness for ABIGAIL and support THE HERNANDEZ FAMILY. http://thndr.it/1d3TXS8”

That's it! It's that simple, and that great - imagine, more than a million people being told about a missing person all at once!

I'm excited that so many people will be informed about Abby, and excited that more people will be able to watch and learn how this fantastic crowdsourcing tool works to spread the word about missing persons.

How do they know that 1 million people will hear about Abby? I know that's what the social reach number says, but how do they get to that number? I guess it's assuming that all of the 500 supporters will post something on their FB page, and their friends will then share it, etc?

NY Post: US Postal Service takes digital pictures of every piece of mail and keeps them for up to a month

“Law enforcement has requested a couple of times if there’s any way we could figure out where something came from,” he said. “And we’ve done a little bit of that in the ricin attacks.”

......

“We’ve got a process in place that pretty much outlines, in any specific facility, the path that mail goes through,” he said. “So if anything ever happens, God forbid, we would be able very quickly to track back to see what building it was in, what machines it was on, that type of thing. That’s the intent of the whole program.”

This is not an article about Abby per se, but it piqued my interest in regards to Abby's case and others. I would love to know just how down to the nitty gritty they are with this technology - can they isolate what post office drop box a letter came from? One would think so if they go to all this trouble to begin with.

Each person that clicked support allowed the program to access their social media page(s) and post for them at the same time today at noon. Therefore each of the 550+ accounts that signed up will get a post sent from them via Thndrclp and be seen by those on their lists…the people don't need to do anything at all, they did that when they signed up.

Doing this they can count each supporters' friend list count that would see the posting…or number of followers on Twitter or Tumblr. So in reality, those who click to support have probably already been sharing Abby stuff on their pages therefore maybe won't get to a new group, BUT the key is it all happened at once and many probably saw it go through their feeds a few times on each of the three sites they may have accounts on. Just adds hugely to the odds of others sharing off of it and people paying attention to the posts as they are seeing more than just one random one here and there.

I do not know if, after the fact, Thunderclap is able to give data back to the person who set it up as far as shares, retweets or reblogs from each post.

It's a computer generated number, going by how many supporters, and then how many followers or friends are on each supporters page. If you go to Abby's thunderclap, it tells us how many people it will reach :)

Zenya did GREAT, as always! Just wants Abby to know how loved and missed she is, and that no one is giving up. We wont lose hope. And we will continue to work every single day until we find her.

She is such a strong lady. HUGS to her, she looks so exhausted. I've still got Abby's photo, and link to BAH on my website, it's staying there until she is found. I try to share tweets and fb posts as often as I can. We won't give up either, that is a promise!

She is exhausted. Very. But it doesn't keep her from continuing on! Thank you so much for continuing to share on your pages. It's so important for everyone to keep sharing, keep her face out there!

She looks very exhausted and that must have been so hard to do. Why hasn't there also been a tape of the mom sending a message out to the person who abducted Abby?

CONWAY, N.H. —The mother of a 15-year-old North Conway girl missing since last October made a plea for her daughter's safe return in a YouTube video released Wednesday.

Abigail Hernandez has not been seen since Oct. 9. Her last contact with anyone was a text message sent at 2:53 p.m. that day.

In the video, her mother, Zenya, asked for her daughter to come home.

"Abby, I love you. I miss you. I really want to see you again. Please come home, and please let us know you're OK," said Zenya Hernandez.

Zenya Hernandez described the day her daughter went missing as the worst day of her life.

"I'm worried, just very worried at this point. It's been since Oct. 9, which was the worst day of our lives. It came as a sudden shock," said Zenya Hernandez. "We've been searching everyday. Everyday we've been doing something."

The mother ended the video with a plea for her daughter's safety.

"It's been 99 days. I really want to see you again. Please come home. We will be so happy to see you, and I love you," said Zenya Hernandez.

Authorities revealed in December that the mother received a handwritten letter from her daughter on Nov. 6. The letter was postmarked Oct. 23.

The write up on the WMUR web page says the letter from AH to ZH was handwritten.

Interesting, but LE has never stated it was handwritten, or typed, they declined to divulge that information. Correct?

Correct.
In fact in December, LE flat out refused to give that kind of detail:

http://www.necn.com/12/06/13/NEWS-C...acte/landing.html?blockID=859299&feedID=11106

And Zenya was not exactly able to answer it diectly in a personal interview:

http://www.myfoxboston.com/story/24197154/zanya-hernandez-abby-will-come-home#ixzz2nD3mXo5T

At least Maria Stephanos was sensitive to the restrictions Zenya was under. I don't know how she holds up.

That kind of detail would be HUGE but in typical WMUR style they wish they were huge.

So WMUR, which "Authorities revealed" this in December? WMUR is known for this kind of fabrication, unfortunately.

I didn't even bother going back through the article to read the fine print on the letter info they gave in the above stated article. If they wanted us to suddenly know a letter was handwritten, it wouldn't be hidden away in a news article. If it was, they'd come out with a press conference or some sort of bigger announcement than this. That is MY take on it. (I refuse to make animal sounds, especially of animals I tend to eat in my tacos)

This is just a heart break. At the same time a mother's love is something undeniable but often bittersweet.
I think of that picture where Abby and Zenya are in the field in the village by the railroad station - it must have been after a run. Zenya is sitting in the grass catching her breath and Abby is looking at her smiling. That kind of physical exhaustion is a blessing compared to the emotional exhaustion that shows on her face today.
My only hope and prayer is that soon they will be together and both their pretty faces will be bright and beautiful again. SOON!

That ^^^ is one of my favorite photos! I think it truly shows the connection of mother and daughter there and the support to and from one another. Abby Needs to be Home!

Thank you Steleheart, for those kind words :) That picture was right after a marathon run. We hope and pray also, everyday, to see both their faces bright and cheerful, SOON!
