I know this may sound like hopeful optimism but I do wholeheartedly believe that Abby will come home safely. I am completely reassured by her mother receiving a letter, that means whoever has Abby is thinking of her as a person. That's so important. I really believe whoever has her is going to realize she should go back home and will release her. I also think if Abby has even a fraction of the strength her mother has she'll make it through this.
I completely agree!

I live in an area of New England that has a huge amount of summer visitors. IF Abby is still missing then, it will be my personal project to scrutinize faces! If anyone knows of any personal traitsm, scars, etc that would maker her more easy to spot...let me know. Of course its is my hope that she will not be missing still.......

And, yeah.... wmur commentsers are nuts.

AH I was looking for this, thank you Hap :)
I don't know if I am right or wrong but in many pictures I have seen, Abby seems to have a ptosis of the right eye. That is a droop in the eyelid - not exactly a 'lazy eye' but it is noticeable in many pictures except in the posed pictures where she is purposely keeping her eyes open. It is especially not noticeable in the bus picture, which is by far her prettiest expression with her bright and smiling face.
But in other candid pictures it seems noticeable to me. If anyone knows or has noticed this or thinks I am wrong I would like to know.
I also look at the space between the upper lip and nostrils, nose bridge and chin shape whenever possible. We are fortunate to have a variety of pictures of her in different situations with different facial expressions.
If anyone wants to know how she might look with her hair cut then look carefully at the pictures of her with a hat on. One of my favorites is of Abby in a car wearing a hat and giving a look. But I think she is much younger there. The eyelid is not noticeable in that picture but the shape of her lips, the shape of her face, dimples, etc are unmistakable.

Her right eye, distance between lip and nose and curve of her smile are the defining features I have noticed and have been using too, Steleheart. Totally agree!

Excellent!! These are exactly the things that will make her recognizable.

Yes! Also in the bus picture, because of her beautiful smile you can see that her teeth are well aligned, even in their proportion and tightly spaced - natural - in a way that likely never needed braces. No matter what picture you look at, what ever expression, dimple to dimple = eyeball to eyeball, LOL. If that sounds weird I am just saying it is a proportion that doesn't change with hair styles, hoodies, facial expressions or otherwise.
We don't need tattoos!

Fox news can say all they want but the truth is imo that Abby is not a runaway and that she is being held somewhere. It's either someone she knew and thought she was safe with or a total stranger. Let's just pray that the LE continue working hard on this case and bring her home. Prayers to Abby and her mom and never give up the search for Abby.

YES! Honestly, I don't' know that I could describe things the way you have… but I'm positive i'd recognize abby in a crowded room from afar. Really. There's something about her expressions (e.g. all you've saidLOL) that would cause her to stand out even if she had whiffle long bleach blonde hair. She's a beautiful young lady and had a charm and sense of humor that TO ME shows through . Thanks for pointing out the the specifics, I agree with your posts here, the eyes, the mouth, nose and her teeth/smile. I don't know her personally but I see this strength in all of this that is special to Abby, Abigail Hernandez, don't you think? SHE NEEDS TO BE HOME!

These discussions and ways of recognizing a missing child are very important. The reason I say this is because, even though KR of FBI mentioned the exploitation factor, there are other ways young people can be exploited.
Recently I was going to a Home Depot. On the way into the shopping center there was a person in the island holding a cardboard sign facing the exiting traffic. I purposely went into the lane to turn around and go back to get a look at her. But in that effort I noticed a car backed up to the traffic lane and a man with his hatch back open, his puppy with him and a cardboard sign saying "homeless and hungry . buy and sell right here. will work for food" He was about in his mid 30's. So I turned around and went back out to look at the girl. She was all wrapped up in a hoodie with a scarf, bulkie clothes and holding a cardboard sign that said "cold, hungry and homeless - please help". I looked at her face. She was quite a bit younger than the guy up the drive. You would almost think it was a father daughter team. I doubted that. It made me worry about Abby.
I know for a fact that local PD was aware of this couple. I never saw them again, but I remember just looking at her little face. No, it wasn't Abby, but it might be if you see someone doing this.
Cow sounds,,,

A whiffle! Good gawd I had a whiffle when I was ten and you weren't even bon yet! :floorlaugh:

Having said that - ahem.

She has a charm, yes. I wonder if she knows that. You do dear girl. You have a charm.

It actually took me a while to see specific attributes beause really, Abby could be any of my own chidren's friends. But she is unique. You know, they are all unique, and each child has a character all their own.

Shamshak runs a PI Certificate program at Boston University and he is the expert that Fox Boston calls in to comment on many police related cases and missing persons cases. He has provided commentary for them on Abby's case in the past and also on many other missing cases. He is a former Police Chief.

Seemed very reasoned and clear, reinforces the questions why this has gotten so much of the LE resources.
IMO he has some inside info due to his experience. Could be part of a (coordinated?) message to AH to "get to a safe location".

Praying you will be found today Abby safe and sound.

Where are you Abby?

Still no news in this case!! When are they going to get a break it has been so many months now. Just seems that there is someone out there that has seen her somewhere. I pray they get their break in this case and get Abby home. It would also be nice if LE would update the public about this case. Even if there is nothing new to report they could at least let us know if they are receiving any kind of leads and if these leads are good leads. Too much silence. I know it is none of our business but people care and people want her home and I feel if the LE updated the public and kept updating at least once a month it would keep people interested in this case. I have been following this since day one. Everywhere I go I look to see if there is anyone out there that looks like Abby. I recently traveled to Connecticut with my husband and stopped off at the liquor store on our way home to use the restrooms in New Hampshire and saw her poster. It made me happy it was there but also very sad because she is still missing. This case needs a big break and praying they get one. Prayers to Abby and mom and family.

Agreed! If this message board is any indication of the interest level in this case, LE might want to stir the pot a little to renew interest. it's been awfully quiet here lately.

Where is Abby, where could she be...? (Humming the words and BUMPING FOR ABBY!)

  • #897
Still no news and this board is totally quiet. This is very discouraging no updates no nothing. A month a so I posted something from another website and got in trouble. I won't go into detail but I am beginning to think that whoever posted it knew what he/she was talking about. It would make sense on why it is so quiet from the LE IMO. I just don't understand it, no updates no nothing. This country has so much technology that they would have found something by now it seems. Just doesn't add up. I hope she is safe wherever she is and that she will come home safe. Prayers to Abby and her family.

IMO LE is doing a huge disservice to Abigail in keeping so quiet and being so "secretive". If they had a suspect, they would track the person down and SWAT team their way in...not tiptoe around for months on end. In every case of missing teens running off to meet an internet "friend" LE has named the adult immediately. So if no suspect, why not be open and truthful with the public as to what they DO have? How is it working out for them being so silent? This is a minor here...not a twenty-year old woman, i.e who could be working and supporting herself elsewhere, or a wife possibly fed up with hubby and kids. Secrecy is not the answer in a missing kid's case...first priority has to be finding them, not evidence protection. JMO

Yep, I also think there would be major outrage if LE knew where she was or who she was with and kept it a secret for months.

I know we're all feeling frustrated. Like others, I check the board daily and hope to see that she's been found only to be disappointed. But I want to address a few things. IMO, she didn't run but I don't believe it does any good to shut that out as a theory. Even LE has said nothing is off the table and that they are considering all possibilities, including potentially running away. They have also said there is no history of running away. If there had been no letter from Abby, I highly doubt anyone would have concluded she ran away. Thing is, even if she ran away she's not safe. The premise that if a teen runs away she doesn't want to be found and therefore people should just let her do what she wants is wrong. Teens also want to stay up all night, eat ice cream and candy all day, not do their homework and date the wrong people, but just because they want to do these things doesn't mean they are making good decisions, healthy or even safe. I don't mean to offend, but this girl doesn't appear very sophisticated and street smart, which is why I don't believe she ran away or didn't intend to be home that night.
As for LE not releasing everything? At the beginning I felt they should release everything, to heck with protecting the evidence I wanted this child found and home. But if Abby isn't alive I agree with protecting evidence so they can fully prosecute the person who hurt her since that may be the only justice in that scenario. We all operate with the assumption that she is still alive, but just as it's possible she ran away it's equally possible someone took her life that day and the only way to achieve any justice for her would be to put that person behind bars, so I say protect that evidence. I'm sorry to have to put that out there, since I do know that the people from BAH read, but it is a possibility and one that needs to be considered so we can understand why it's important to protect a potential investigation and prosecution.
