The picture of him is haunting... Hopefully this will bring her family and community some peace.

Thank goodness!

The look in his eyes is pretty haunting and harkens back to ZH's comments about the look in Abby's eyes. I wonder if he used drugs to control her.

He doesn't look anything like the sketch.

I think the eyes are quite off.

I just saw this on my news. I've been watching tornado coverage and this popped up! yay for the arrest. Dude is creepy looking. I guess we get to dig into his background now.

OMG this guy lives within walking distance of my parents! I wonder if he had something to do with that other attempted abduction in Gorham in June?

Yes, it's been discussed...the problem being that it directly contradicts what the AG statement was:

That's a false premise. The descriptions by family friends who have seen Abby and by her mother do not directly contradict what AAG Young said.

The WCVB report did not quote the AAG directly. The words “in good condition” are the reporter's words. We do not know the precise words Young chose because she isn't quoted. The legitimacy of the phrase “in good condition” has been elevated by citing it as a direct quote from the AAG.

The words “in good condition” are nonspecific. The phrase does not contradict the health issues detailed by friends and her mother. “In good condition” can mean she came home alive, coherent, walking on her own. She did not require hospitalization or reconstructive surgery. Considering the alternatives, that's good condition for a child who was missing for 9 months. “In good condition” doesn't mean she returned home completely healthy, physically and mentally.

The “experts” in the second sentence of the WCVB snippet have no bearing here and provide no insight. The reporter did not identify these people or their fields of expertise. They have no firsthand knowledge. The reporter told them what he/she had gleaned from LE and then asked them to comment. There wasn't anything novel about their conclusion: law enforcement had said the same thing.

Well, WOW, my husband just texted with breaking news of an arrest, so I will stop and start celebrating!

Looks like he previously lived in Milan NH. Wonder if he has any priors?

Gorham... so she (most likely) wasn't far away all this time, just a few miles north from N. Conway. Same town as that attempted abduction was mentioned a couple of weeks ago.

Youre right. You are only guilty of kidnapping if you are concealing a minor from LE with the intent to do so.

Caring for a child in your home, even if you know they have runaway, is not enough. You have to be actively concealing them with the intent to hide the child from LE.

Two off the top of my head:
Shasta Groene.
Brittany Mae Smith.

There have been others.

Steve Carter

He does have priors. They come in google drug charges.

I was just watching 20/20 on ID channel about two teenage cousins who were kidnapped on their way home from Wendy's and forced into prostitution. Then my kids came home from camp and I had to turn it off so I didn't catch the ending but I kept thinking about Abby and now to come back to this news I am overjoyed to get this pig off of the streets! What a relief.
