I just used my ipad to try to find my daughter's iPhone 5 which is powered on and in the same room as me. the app found my ipad but didn't! find the iPhone. apparently I don!t know how to use the app properly and can imagine I am not the only one.

You have to log in to your daughters iCloud account to find her phone. I'm adamant with my son, I get his iCloud password or he gets a phone that doesn't work :-D I'm not so much worried about finding him (he is a good kid and a big boy, doubtful anyone would accost him) but he has misplaced many phones grrr.

Yes iPhone would need to be charged for find my phone app to work. If LE thinks someone has the phone...they should be constantly trying to find it with the app. As soon as it's turned on, they would get a location. Jmo

Above BBM.

#1 :floorlaugh:

#2 I am so hung up on this too. Thinking back to when I was 14 going on 15, (not too much of an old timer, but it was almost 20 years ago:blushing:) in a small town, I knew a lot of people and I peripherally knew ton more than that. I'm sorry to say that my decision making process was not fully developed at that tender age and I look back at some of the people I rode around with and don't know what the heck I was thinking.

Were there any jealously issues with other girls that anyone is aware of? I know we always jump to the male creep, but recent cases have shown us just how evil teen girls can be to each other. (Skylar Neese's case to name one) AH is a beautiful young lady with a steady boyfriend, an athlete and by all appearances is a very happy girl. A lot of young girls can see a lot to hate there (because they don't have that). Just throwing ideas out there because this whole case off the charts odd.

ALWAYS MOO
Oh... I had that thought about jealous female perp(s), too... But forgot to post it...

I really don't think we can toss aside any theories (within reason, of course) at this time... With the little bit of information we DO have...

Find my friends app is good!
Both of you must have the app and it needs your approval first.
It is really good, my hubby was driving and i can see the icon that represents
him in the map moving while he is driving

Much better

I am trying to think of a scenario that would work with this because of the timing of the phone pings and potential sightings vs. how fast she could have been walking. I wonder if maybe older boy was friends/crush/bf of an older girl that could drive?

Le hasn't told us if a book bag or anything similar is unaccounted for. Therefore might assume missing with her.

I was just thinking about that. In the video still of Abby leaving the school she is carring a bag over her shoulder, it has to be missing too because if it was found at home that would confirm she had made it home and LE have said they cannot determine she did. If you look closely you can see she has her iPhone in her hand too.

Good questions...

since she just turned 15... Most of her friends her own age would not have access to a vehicle... And would have probably been missed by their families if gone for any length of time on a Wednesday afternoon (when AH disappeared)...

However... Older students would have more opportunities for access to vehicles and also have a bit more autonomy from family/parents...

Just some thoughts...

Storyland isn't too far away, wonder if someone had promised to take her there for a little pre-birthday outing and met her at Settler's Green. No one would think twice about seeing someone get into a car in a parking lot, and the back parking lot is right up against n/s road. At 2:52 she was about 3 miles from the last ping on her phone at 3:07pm. From Settler's Green to the west side of Cranmore on n/s road is 2.6 miles and takes about 8 mins to travel by car. That would be about the right timing. She certainly couldn't walk it that fast, so she had to be in a car. I'm wondering if they've thoroughly searched that parking lot, and reviewed any cameras they might have out there.

Wowzer, never thought of that angle; someone very close to her but from out of town perhaps staying at the resort or maybe lives nearby. But, if it was someone coming in to meet up with her, wouldn't she share it? Not knowing her bus route, etc. would she walking this route be faster if there was a planned destination? Surely, she would have told her BF or BFF. Interesting Mom24!

Could the phone have needed charging after eight hours of presumed non-usage while at school? I have an old phone and only charge it on Saturdays, lol.

I think a certain player in this case knows what happened to Abby. Just a feeling from reading all the media reports and some SM perusing. No timeout please mods :naughty:

Nah I can leave my phone sitting somewhere for 24 hours and come back and it's only at 77%, and she and I have the same phone.

Does anyone find it weird that the bf's dad talked to media after they told no one to talk?

Well I doubt someone stopped right in the middle of the road & she hopped in, so they had to either pull off the shoulder or into a road/parking lot.
And did they call her by name, or wave her over? Did she know the person and approach them willingly? Someone that came driving by...someone that works along the route and knew her by sight, previous greeting?
Le hasn't told us if a book bag or anything similar is unaccounted for. Therefore might assume missing with her.
So if it was someone known to her, she kept everything on her person maybe when getting in a vehicle. And nothing alarmed her at that moment?
Now if it was a stranger, what are the chances she would have dropped something, when being coerced/coaxed in a vehicle?

just thinking
I still worry about hotels and who may have checked out that day, given the fall season.

BBM Very, very true! I agree that she may have hopped in the car with all of her things because she trusted whomever she went with. (if she did)

I dont know but i am leaning to this theory right now

1. The abductor/s might be after the "father"
2. The abductor/s cant find the father and took AH instead ,called Zenya that they have her and not to say a lot in public
3. The abductor/s want the father in exchange of AH
4. The abductor/s hasnt contact Le or zenya yet.

Why do i feel this is the case?
1. The secrecy of the father's information and media said the father is working with LE, so he is found and most likely not responsible.
2. Zenya called LE minutes after she got home, after verifying her daughter is not there
3. LE 's mum on many information and condition of the house when Zenya arrived
4. LE's looking for a dead body or a live one, you cant even tell
5. Missing AH page told their family and friends that if they have info , needed to send it to FBI and not on the wall
6. You can feel that there is so much "hope" on this eventhough it's been 7 days already that she's missing
7. RSO are cleared per media (not sure of this )
8. Older sister went on the press ...It is like asking maybe the abductors that they can call her instead?

i hope i am wrong and i hope she just left the house and scared to go back..

the "find my iPhone" app asks for an Apple ID and password. I typed in my daughter's Apple ID and password and I find our ipad but not the iPhone. anjl, you said I needed to log into her iCloud account but when I asked my daughter for her iCloud account and password, she didn't know what I was talking about. I know my own Apple ID and password but I don't know if I even have an iCloud account or password.

I think my experience goes to show that just because someone has an apple product, they may not know how to use it.

at times people talk of finding a cell phone via GPS. I wouldn't have a clue how to go about finding a phone that way.

Do we know if the father is in Abigail's life?
If not, the mother may not have wanted him mentioned or involved. It may not mean there is a "secret" about him.
We actually do not know she has been abducted either. Just that she is missing and has been gone for a week.

Definitely, noted that as well as the male that worked at the school, noting two days she walked (perhaps jeopardizing his job) because he did it on video no less. Some things, you just file away & wonder, why someone would not listen to LE & said it anyway could possibly mean more?:innocent:

Just brainstorming here..

They are looking for the phone and are saying it is not with her.

How do they know that?

Is it possible they know the phone is on but cant triangulate it ?

Or is it not "pinging" but the Cranmore tower knows its in its range ? That would make sense for the " lost and found" comment. They know its somewhere near, but then wouldnt they just assume its still with her? How are they confident its around but not with her ?

I dont know much about Apple or the latest phone security setups.

And I think I just talked myself into a full circle .

ooh. ok. can you explain about needing approval? my daughter said she has "find my iPhone" on her iPhone 5 and when she used the iPhone and opened the app and typed in her Apple ID and password the app found our ipad, but not the iPhone she was using.

and on topic. I didn't hear anyone say that Abby and her iPhone are separated. did I miss that they know this to be true?

Hmm, it worked like a dream for me, but I was using the same Apple ID on all my devices. I think you may just have to have the same Apple ID? Not sure.

But just for info on this thread:
For me, it told me my phone was on, let me play a sound to find it and told me battery life. It looks like this
4e6e7yde.jpg

When I turned my phone off, it told me the last place it was and last battery life on the phone. If her phone was turned off, LE should be able to see battery.
