I don't blame you, but it's like this in almost every missing persons case. It's not just JY's cases. And usually when it's like this, the person is still missing months or even years later.
In Mickey Shunick's case, LE released the camera images of Mickey and the truck following her and the truck's description and one of the tips that broke the case open came from a car dealer employee who was alert and paying attention.
The public is such a valuable, but usually completely ignored and wasted, resource. It's really tragic.
i don't disagree, but i'm not a local...we handle things differently where i'm from. no one would listen to LE. we'd get on foot, bicycles, in cars, trains, planes, boats, floats, skateboards, surfboards...whatever it took.
willow long, may her tiny special soul rest in peace, was found by volunteer searchers. JC (bf's father) even offered via FB to employ an army of ATV's and locals to search for her. why didn't LE comply? willow's volunteers were carted by bus, amidst heatstroke conditions, for days on end...in this case, according to the FBI map, they haven't even expanded the search to the Canadian border, Portsmouth, or otherwise...why? (trick question, IMO the answer is clear)...
a question for you, if possible to answer...how many kids walk home via the north-south highway route vs. through town? is that a regular thing?
or she's walking , vehicle driven by someone she knows told her that he/she will give her a lift since it is on his/her way...
Do you think it was someone watching her in person (like a neighbor whose house she walks past daily) or someone watching her online (through social media) or both? Or neither?
for an amber alert you have to have at least a vague description of a suspect and a vehicle..... those 2 things are why this did not meet the criteria for an amber alert.... which i think is stupid..... to me if a kid is missing and its not looking like a runaway then most likely the kid isn't missing because they want to be and an amber alert should be issued......
I think LE has some reason to believe Abigail is no longer alive. That's why their investigation is being conducted more like they're trying to build a criminal case and less like they're trying to find a girl, who may still be alive.
That explains, in my opinion, why they're very lukewarm about public assistance, and are so loose with facts. She made it home, she didn't make it home, she made a phone call 4 hours after she disappeared, she didn't make a phone call 4 hours after she disappeared, she was wearing a gray sweatshirt, no wait she was wearing a black and green striped shirt... the list is endless.
These are all details it's important to nail down in order for the public to be able to assist. Yet these details keep changing- what seemed clear before, or was stated as fact, is now being walked back.
LE maybe doesn't want a perp to know that they know he exists. Maybe that's why they're acting like they know absolutely nothing. Maybe that's why they gave Mom and sister script to read to plead for Abigail's return.
They're going through the motions, but they're play-acting, hoping to trick a perp into giving himself up. Just my opinion.
It could have been an abduction by someone she knows but for some reason I'm not getting that feeling. For some reason I think it was a stranger abduction. I think this because it would have been very easy for someone to follow her routine to/from school. They would know that she walks alone as well and would have to find the right opportunity and take it. Maybe the day she was abducted was that opportunity.
A couple of points:
Topix is not an allowed site.
We no longer allow astrology on WS.
No bashing of LE/AG.
I think the person that took her was a stranger to her but she wasn't a stranger to them,
Yes, I think they believe she's not alive. I also can tell that the officers are working very hard. I've seen the photos of the FBI agents going door-to-door and searching rugged terrain. These people are working long hours.
I think it's just very difficult for many of us, especially those of us who are parents, to not place the highest priority on finding the missing person. Even if that person is not alive. It's hard for me, personally, to place a higher value on building a criminal case or protecting an investigation than on finding the missing person.
I get the LE and legal point of view, though. They must work to build their case.
