Considering they found two bodies when they were first out searching for her I agree with you!

One body (part of a skeleton that looked like it had been there for years) was discovered while the searchers looked around Cranmore Mountain. The other person wasn't found during a search; he was a man who died on 10/12 while hiking in a different nearby town; the same day that that man died, the medical examiner was called to determine his cause of death:

Well without giving any names does anybody happen to know any stories of runaways either in the news or in your community or family that you would care to share about what happened...how long...who with...just to give us something to go on.

I remember one case that was in the news where a young girl ran away and was found in some fellows apartment attic. It was a few years back and I don't remember all the details. I think she was missing perhaps a week.

JMO
I'm not trying to offer an opinion on what I think happened in this case, but regarding your question, I am familiar with an example of someone running away for good around 16 years old.

She was a nice girl who had many friends. We all had a lot of mutual friends, and on certain occasions, some of us would hang out after school at times at different people's houses. She was sometimes present at these get togethers, and I only knew her through these mutual friends.

At some point, she started to hang around with some different friends who were into drugs and not the type of people our main group would associate with. So, we saw less and less of her in our group.

Then one day, the story spread through school that she ran away from home. Everyone thought she would probably come back in a few days, but she never did come back home. It was really sad, as she had a nice loving family and her brother who we knew through school was devastated. The rumor mill indicated she just left to live with some of these other new friends she began to hang out with. Some of them were older and had their own places, and the rumors said she was staying with one of them.

We all heard that LE did do some house searches at specific places, but never found her. The last I remember is she never was found, but that she was known to be fine (through rumor mill) and just living with these type of people doing her own thing.

It was a really sad thing at the time because a lot of her original friends saw how she changed and we all felt terrible that nobody could convince her to avoid these type of people. She chose to be rebellious and she really changed her whole attitude and everything. She was such a seemingly nice girl with a nice family, and had absolutely nothing to run away from.

So, IMO, these types of things do happen.

There are also roads up there that will be closing for the winter. Hurricane Road is one.

Oh gosh and the locals all know that. Remembering Dylan Redwine. He went missing in November and was not found til the following Spring when the roads opened up.

Wow! What a great find, Cluciano! I knew she loved the Beatles but didn't even think that October 9th could have a special meaning! Are others talking about that or did you think of it? Could just be a coincidence but stranger things have happened. Maybe while everyone is searching for Avonte in NY they should keep their eyes out for Abby, too.

No, I did not see or read anything about this, so it was just a wild suggestion. Very unlikely, I would think. But it just occurred to me.

Does anyone know if there is a press conference or anything today? Just saw a few MA news vans headed towards North Conway.

Those roads have been mentioned before. Does anyone know if the recent group searched those roads? Or any other group? Someone said it's a very tough area to search in. Helicopter? Should be done.

I believe Hurricane road is near Cranmore. I think it goes into Maine, would have to check a map.

The western end of Hurricane Mountain Road is within the area outlined on the LE search map, so that section at least has probably been searched. It is located north of Mount Cranmore and runs perpendicular to route 16.

She is a John Lennon fan, and she vanished in his birthday. Lots of people head to NYC on a sort of pilgrimage on that day.

Anyway...I just wish (all) LE would be more open with the public until a person is found, and worry about protecting possible clues later. JMO

Yes-I posted a while back (link also) that explains the #9 fascination by John Lennon and the Beatles including his birthday, sons, death etc...

14-year-old Amber Dubois is coming to mind. Wasn't she abducted close to her school at prime time and nobody saw anything?

Does anybody happen to remember the details of that case because it does seem simiiar to this one with the time and age.

Amber Dubois Case Archive:
She was kidnapped Feb 13, 2009 and found March 6, 2010.

http://s296.photobucket.com/user/cr...&page=1&_suid=1382991001943031797085524746615

Amber was only found because the murderer did it again, and to avoid the DP for the murder of Chelsea King (also in my archives) he took LE to Amber's remains.
In Amber's case the family brought in dogs that took them very close to where Amber was found. But the LE in Escondido discounted the dogs/handlers and that was that.

I'm sure the detectives working this case have info or potential POI's not being made public.... what they really need everyone is TIPS to help them substantiate what they currently have...... anyone who has even what they may feel is info that is ''kind of out there'' or ''far fetched'' call it in!!!!!!!!!!! You don't know if its stupid or nothing...... call those tips in!!!!! It is what they need right now

I don't think LE has any potential suspects. In a small town like this, word would likely have leaked if anyone had been taken in for questioning, even if not named a POI. I really do not believe LE has any proof of a crime at this point...just a girl missing.

Lack of a struggle does not have to mean she willingly got into a car, though. Amber did not leave signs of a struggle behind when she was forced into that car in daylight hours on the way to school. I think he had a knife? Anyway, he admitted to stabbing and strangling her, when he finally confessed, and I think he said he threatened her with a knife to make her get into the car. LE believed Amber had run away, due to lack of evidence of a crime. Sometimes there is just no way to tell and sometimes. LE is just wrong.

Anyway...JMO

If I could really believe LE had POIs or real leads I could have hope. But I'm having trouble with that. Sorry I feel that way. Most of you have been at this a lot longer than I have, so maybe I'm just pessimistic. People do say I am.
I only hope you are right.

1 where her phone last panged

The phone cell tower is located at the top of the mountain near where this old, partial skeleton was found, but there's no proof it has anything to do with Abby's disappearance. There's no proof that Abby was at/on the mountain where the cell tower is; phones can ping off of towers that are miles away. There aren't many cell towers in that area, so most people's phones in North Conway probably ping off that same tower.

There are literally hundreds of miles of hiking trails and ski trails within a few miles of where those old bones were found, so it's entirely possible that they could be the bones of a hiker who got lost or had a medical problem and died several years ago, and no one found the remains until now. The terrain is very rough and rocky and there's a lot of trees/brush. Hikers don't always tell people where they're going, so it's possible this person's family and friends had no idea where he/she'd gone that day.

It's my opinion that Abby and these partial remains likely have nothing to do with each other.

I agree. They may have someone they think is likely, and have their suspicions just like we do, but I'm not convinced they have anything solid. I do think there is something about the phone and I wouldn't be surprised if the person who took Abby or was involved in her disappearance still has the phone. Seems if it had been disposed of, it would have been found by now.

They may have been channel 4 news, because they were at the vigil (one of the microphones Zenya spoke into). I guess people will have to watch the news tonight to find out which station was there (unless someone can identify the vans).
