I NEVER heard that ''older boy online" come from LE..... and I do not believe that JC sr works at DD.... I think that is on his FB page as a joke meaning constant DD coffee consumer

here is the source of the "older boy online" info

Law enforcement sources told ABC News that Hernandez had befriended an older boy on Facebook and had a high school boyfriend. The FBI's Rapid Child Abduction Deployment Unit is orchestrating the search efforts, which have been conducted by air, on the ground, and in the nearby Sacco River by police from multiple law enforcement agencies.

So you are correct. We never heard that from an LE mouthpiece and do not have a direct quote. The info is attributed to "LE sources"

I feel that if this was confirmed to be the case they would have told us. They did when Nichole C went missing in Maine. The second they found out they told us. We would be hearing "believed to be with" or "May be with" and any info they had for a description of the older male we'd know. I'm not putting anything on this info from 'LE sources'

  • #904
I think they would have told us about the older boy if he were real. But maybe it was a fake profile and they haven't figured out who it belongs to. Or maybe he has been cleared.

Does anyone have any thoughts about what I posted earlier with respect to not living in the family home?

You're right.... they brought in computer forensics experts, obviously looked at who she talked to, found the fb user, realized he was not who he claimed to be and they made him talk...... ;)

Wow all along I thought that was just a rumor. Is that two different people they are speaking of 1. older boy on Facebook 2. high school boyfriend

Of course they could be speaking of JC. He might be the HS boyfriend.

What I wish is that I could edit that article for all of the typos and misspellings!

I think in the beginning, it is instinct to say your child would not run away. For one thing, you don't get much attention if you start off saying that. As weeks pass, you might hope she ran away because nothing else can have a good ending.

I think in the very beginning it was the NG show that brought Abby's Missing to the forefront.

Speaking of which I wonder what the criteria is for that show?

Why did they chose Abby's?

sits on hands and keeps opinions about the NG show to herself.

The first time Abby's case was on Nancy Grace was on October 15, so it wasn't Nancy Grace who was the first one to mention Abby. The first national coverage was on October 13 by Good Morning America. And of course there was local coverage way before that.

ETA: I'm talking about TV coverage here. It looks like the first article by a national network was Fox News on October 12: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/10/12/new-hampshire-authorities-step-up-search-for-missing-teen/

Assuming upon divorce (or split) this is Dad's home, his home where he spends time part of the year, not mom's. It isn't always as simple as it appears when a couple with kids breaks up. I don't know that we need to know all about the situation surrounding why the parents aren't together anymore nor how they split their finances, equity, etc. (which falls under who owns what home).

It isn't something that should nor needs to be public. I know, personally, it is very trying and you do what you have to in order to care for your children. I don't see anything alarming with moving around, especially as a single mom with 2 kids. Moving sucks in these situations so what I say is...GO ZENYA! She must be one tough cookie, she sure is doing an amazing job in this horrible situation.

NH, ME, MA are very much connected. MyFoxBoston appears to be where it began. Boston covers local, but to them much of these tourist areas ARE local. We are all connected, there are MA transplants throughout NH and ME and if not a full-time transplant at the very least a frequent visitor or seasonal home owner. People go back and forth, these areas are close to hearts with lots of family memories and more to come, heck people even commute daily all around New England.

Boston covers it and bam, it becomes bigger. That's my take. We are all Sox, Pats, Bruins Fans united (OK maybe not but seriously, there is a connectivity that goes on and once Boston covers it, you have one of the big cities covering and it spreads.)

I really have to wonder what made this missing Abby so big so fast that everybody was picking it up?

You don't see that in too many missing teen cases. Why Abby?

I keep feeling we are missing something big.

  • #914
IMO, the media only picks up on a small number of cases but they fit a pattern of sorts, either interesting circumstances or attractive victim or perp. Abigail's case has both, she is young, a middle-school girl, pretty, looks clean-cut, no history of gang affiliation, drugs, or arrests, and she vanished doing an ordinary thing, walking home from school. So I am not at all surprised her case was picked up and do not find it to mean anything in particular, especially since I do not feel LE has a handle on her disappearance at all.

I think the local media picked it up quickly because of the big LE response. However, the national media took a few days before they picked it up which I think is a bit unusual. When I think about teenagers who got lots of national coverage, it's where it was confirmed they were abducted, cases like Chelsea King, Elizabeth Smart, Kelsey Smith, etc. It doesn't sound to me like it's ever been that big of a story, except in the immediate local area, though.

The amount of media coverage seems to be in-between "runaway" and "confirmed abduction".

IMO, Maybe the huge presence of LE and whoever else was present when AH was first reported missing and their quick response was because of some history?? I was taken back by the only 2 comments on this page. Very interesting........

I am catching up and reading through older comments but the comments in the link that you found, I had seen it before: https://www.facebook.com/linda.almonte/posts/607410382614988
I found the same comments when I did a search for recent near or failed abductions in NH, MA, CT, VT. I was looking to see if there were any attempted abductions right around the time AH disappeared. I have been saving the websites in a document so I knew which ones I had read. I happened to save the link but I have no idea about it. Have any of you heard this?

Here is a link to a recent failed abduction attempt in Bristol, NH a month before AH disappeared. Bristol is near Plymouth if you are looking it up on a map. The article said a 30-40 yo white male in a silver SUV, possibly a Pontiac G6, with Virginia license plates tried to get a gal into a car: http://boston.cbslocal.com/2013/02/...fter-attempted-abduction-reported-in-bristol/ If you do a google search of attempted abduction and Virginia plates there are a few other listed attempts in New England.

http://www.wcsh6.com/news/article/259676/314/Kittery-Police-investigate-attempted-abduction Kittery, Maine white van 10-11-2013 30-35 years old, thin, clean-shaven, with light brown hair. victim was 19 years old, fought off the man and ran. I found another report of a white utility van but I didnt save that link so I cant attach it . Here is another report of a white van:
.
http://nashua.patch.com/groups/poli...e-report-of-suspicious-van-at-school-bus-stop 50yo white man, grayish beard, MA plates in a white van. READ THE COMMENTS WITH THIS ARTICLE. Seems like there were other attempted abductions in other towns.
Sorry to get off topic but I guess it got me thinking that there is always someone out there just waiting and looking for the opportunity to steal someone’s children.

My children, when they were in their early teens could hold an entire conversation with me.......when they didn't want someone or anyone around to hear what they were saying to me, sometimes back and forth for 20 minutes or even an hour! Now when they start to do that, I tell them to stop texting and just call me because I get frustrated texting for so long. My point is.........it was after school, why was AH and JC texting for 20 minutes? Why not a simple phone call? Was she with someone that she couldn't simply talk on her phone BUT it was ok to text? I feel like I'm back at square one all over again. Like trynna retrace anything that hasn't come to mind when she first went missing.

My daughter at age 16 texted on average of over 4,000 times per mo. She is now 23 and that number has dropped to 1,000 because she works and has a son. I have no idea what she texts, I will never forget seeing that number on our phone bill though  however, in contrast my 17 yo son texted on average of 100x per mo, until he got a girlfriend. Last mo his texts were over 1,000. Even he was shocked.

Ok,this might be a long shot and absolutely ridiculous of me to post this, but here goes- would if, she had plans to run away. Asked an older friend to drop by her house and pick up a few things that she had already packed in her bedroom, and gave the key to her friend to go inside her home while her Mom was at work and she was at school. Perhaps the person got scared and might have knocked something over like a kitchen chair (say, the dogs started barking at them or snarling and chasing that person around the house- mine have done that in the past) or something, hence why her Mom panicked and called the cops right away, seeing that Abby wasn't home. LE might have thought something had happened at first to her at the house, but when they found no signs of struggle or blood or anything, realized that she might not have made it home after all, but was picked up elsewhere after school.

Yes? No? Maybe?

Good scenario, but then I would think that LE would have found finger prints or DNA from the 'older friend'. Wouldn't they call it a kidnapping then? Since they would have evidence and unsure if evidence is from friend or foe?

What if the candy was taken that day? I still find it odd, even after your explanation Mom, that the mother would mention the candy missing. She hadn't noticed the candy missing before that day? Sorry to keep going back to the candy folks.

Not sure if it's been answered. I'm still playing catch up on this thread.

The candy was mentioned only because it would help the searchers. They were merely stating that if they saw a candy wrapper for a candy she liked, they would treat it as evidence. Jmo

Just an FYI: That particular reported abduction attempt occurred in February 2013, not the month before Abby disappeared, and it turned out to be a false abduction report:
