There were sightings of Abby on North /South road. North ?South Road is not congested with walkers. I would think if someone saw anyone walking, they would notice it for that reason. Could someone explain "unconfirmed " sighting to me?

They are calling it unconfirmed because it is simply eyewitness account that it ''may'' have been abby or ''fit her description''. Had someone stopped and spoke to her, maybe they could confirm it, but I do not think that is the case.... they believe it could have been her but LE doesn't have fact to back that up

Thanks for responding takeit. Sooo.....It "could of been her." For arguments sake, let us say that it was her. And lets also say she got into a vehicle. Next question would be......what direction. Me, I would guess north towards Cranmore mountain. We all can agree that North/South road goes only north or south. Why would Abby be walking south? I need a map here I guess.

Most of the people I know (hubby included) don't even realize that they can be tracked by their cell phone. Only criminals and LE seem to pay attention to details like that.

and all of us on WS :)

The important thing here is like I said before you do not see lots of people walking along North /South road. I am sure there are some locals here that will back me up on that. Paul perhaps could but I'm not sure if he is here still or not.

If they knew she got into a vehicle, they would out put a vehicle description or plate number, as they do in other cases IMO. They don't know.

I have thought that if she did get in a car it went towards cranmore. Last ping on the phone is 3:07 p.m. and no one has heard from her since.....

Too quiet. My small amount of positive feeling is dwindling away.
Please let her be found, unlike the many still missing....

Lindsday Baum ~ heartbreaking. Tammy Belanger ~ so sad.
I don't want to see Abby added to this list : (

Runaway or recovery. Either way, the urgency is gone from the atmosphere.

Your post finally made it click for me about what is so off about everything. It's like how you would treat a family when their child dies. From the get go it was looking in the Saco River and Pudding Pond and areas where you would find a body, not a live person. And money for the family, support for them almost reminds me of how it felt when my sister was found. All of us putting on stone faces and being strong while the locals brought food and left it quietly on our front step. Nobody talking about it to protect our privacy and family. What was so horrible that when ZH came home she called the police and why were initial searches like they were looking for a body, and not a live person?

Clu, Not if at the time the witness had no idea the girl would be reported as missing. But, they still would of noticed her as like I said people do not usually walk along North/South road.

You are right, if they knew on day 1 or 2 that she got in a car that would have made her case eligible possibly for an amber alert....

Exactly takeit. Thanks.

I wondered that too.... immediate searches, deploying the fbi card team..... scary stuff!!

I am not talking amber alert here. I am saying that one of these so -called sightings, not confirmed, could of been Abby. Just for the sake of argument.

  • #294
Yup. I saw it after I posted and added an ETA to my original post. It doesn't really change how I feel about your post, though. Just my opinion.

ETA: I actually missed your little MOO at the end until right now. My apologies.

It's all good! ;)

If they saw her get into a vehicle wouldn't that warrant an Amber Alert?

  • #296
Have there been any signs of searching up there at all?

Honeybun, if they had make and model or color. What I am saying is, if someone did see Abby get into a vehicle they probably wouldn't of memorized the the vehicle as there would of been no need to as she hadn't been reported missing yet. But they would of noticed her walking there as not many people walk along North/South road.

I can see why the reported sighting might be unconfirmed as it didn't lead to finding Abby, but, it still doesn't mean it wasn't Abby. I probably have everyone here totally confused.

Please provide a link. Otherwise, this statement is rumor.

ETA: Okay, haste took over and I posted without reading all of the posts. I now see the link you provided but it doesn't mention anything we don't already know about the surveillance video from the HS (where the screen shot was taken from). It's supposition that other videos exist and should be stated as such in your posts, IMO. The truth is getting muddled with all of the rumors flying around, IMO.

NOT rumor! They were able to ascertain her route home by surveillance video.

A timeline has been put together from interviews and surveillance video gathered along the route from Kennett High School toward Abby’s home

I've searched for the news video, but can't find it. At any rate, they had been told by Mom that AH rode the bus home. They were able to ascertain from video surveillance from PREVIOUS days that AH had actually been walking home daily (not taking the bus) and had a "route" home. They did NOT say they had video surveillance of her that day, they may have they may not. All they said was that they used video surveillance to put together a timeline. I'm sure if they had video of her being grabbed an amber alert would have been immediately issued and the video would have been released, as they did in the girl that got into a strange car at school a few days later. I'm guessing what they saw were snippets of AH as she passed in and out of view of various businesses surveillance cameras.

I think a reported sighting remains unconfirmed unless there is another person that saw her U cant just take that one persons word for it.
