Somebody's family will be getting some sad news tonight. Every time a body is found, it makes me very unhappy. I know it can bring answers but still hard to take. RIP.

I can't even hazard a guess.

I was wondering why first reports said possibly a man, too...

Just some thoughts...

shorter length of hair?

Clothing, though tattered, may look like mens' clothes at first glance?

???

I am just catching up on all the new news here. Can't believe what I have been reading. I sure hope its not Abby. How long does it take for the medical examiners report? Anyone?

Different in every case. Sometimes we hear right away, especially when they determine who a body is not, but other times we never hear again. I know bodies have been found in recent months in several states and there is often no follow-up.

It could be a few days at the most. The body was clothed and they do know what Abby was wearing when she disappeared, so that will be helpful. Dental records wouldn't take more than a couple of hours. So they can probably rule her out fairly quickly.

Thanks Mom. It is very unnerving, as I am sure it is for all of us here on this forum. It must be hell for Abby's family.

Maybe I'm being naive because I really don't want it to be her, but they said body of a woman. Wouldn't they say girl or teen if it were Abby?

Abby, at 5'4", is certainly tall enough to be considered a woman. IMO, I would think depending on decomposition and based on the shape of the pelvic bone, a body can be determined to be male or female fairly easily. As for adolescent vs adult, it would depend how many years past menarche the adolescent was and more investigation would be required. Again, all MOO. Maybe this is a woman and that's the correct descriptor. Maybe they should have used "female".

ETA: At 3+ years after menarche, a female's pelvis is close to full size though the birth canal continues to enlarge until late adolescence.

This case is one of the strangest ones I have ever followed. Well then again..maybe not.

But as far as anybody looking for Abby I donno? Who is looking for Abby?

When Micki went missing her father and sister could not say enough. Even crazy Billie Dunn was on tv every night. Ron and Misty had their darn wedding during the search for Hailey. Lots of locals chatting about Holly B and Lauren S. Dylan had his mothers friends posting and parading with signs.

The quiet one was Jessica Ridgeway's family but I think that moved pretty quickly. I always felt sorry for Jessica's mother...there was a sadness there.

But with Abby;
There are no searches.
There are no pleas for bringing Abby home
There are no parents in front of the cameras
The day still remains a mystery

As much as Big Jim has been ridiculed he seems to be the only one that gives a dam about Abby.

He and I are frustrated. It is so quiet I am of the opinion expressed up thread that everybody knows where Abby is so they don't have to search and look and plead.

They just wait til it all dies down!MOO

BBM

I'm confused. Isn't this completely contradictory?

Thank you. I went over there but had no idea what to do...once I got there???

Here is the link to Abby's scanner thread: Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

The links to the Carroll County scanner feeds should be posted on the first page. That link will take you to the Broadcastify live scanner link page. Next to the feed listings, there is a column on the left titled 'listen'. Click on the little triangle/arrow thing and the live scanner feed will begin.

Also, anything heard on the scanner must be posted on the scanner thread and not on the main thread.

I pray to God that this is not AH. I just read the article and I am going to be crushed if this is her. Just seeing an article like this makes me so sad I doubt I will sleep. Please dont be AH......

What if a phone is out of power? "Dead" like that? Can it ping then?

Sorry if this has already been answered. I'm behind on this thread again :( life keeps happening. Ugh!

I tried this. I let my iPhone 4S battery die. Actually it was dead for over 24 hrs. The search began, I couldn't find it anywhere. I did the 'find my phone' from my iPad and yes! It did find my dead cell phone. I'm not super tetchy with phone pings, etc. but I would surmise that the phone will still ping with a dead battery. JMO

AH had her cleaning job on Mondays. Hopefully, her job site and all people known to be at that location on Monday were checked out.

Do we know that she worked for an actual cleaning/janitorial company? I mean she was only 14 yrs old....would a company hire her that young? I always assumed that she did house cleaning on Mondays for a family friend or neighbor.... JMO

A few random thoughts:

Just because we know what clothes AH had on when she left school, doesn't mean she is still in them.

I'm assuming the body in the river was tall and/or large, hence the initial guess of male.

I hope AH is alive and safe, if she is deceased I hope they find her.

It is quite impossible to sleep....
So instead, I am holding a quiet vigil throughout this night and becoming a bit reflective.

Although I (and many of you) walked into her world both uninvited and unexpectedly upon first learning that she had been reported missing, it wasn't long before she captured my heart. Throughout the process of reading and learning more about her, it became clear that Abby is a very bright, smart, creatively talented, warm, sensitive, young woman.

She appears to give of herself freely, always finding time and offering undivided attention to friends who needed to talk, a shoulder to cry on or a good laugh to pick them up. Without knowing or needing many details, it is apparent that Abby's life trail thus far is one of loyal friendships, gentleness, kindness and honest caring. From afar, she presents her reserved nature and mature perspective about things that really matter. Unlike many teens, she comes across as one who seems quite content with genuine love, modest recognition of her specialness by those closest to her, a safe place to relax and unwind and the need for simple, basic respect and acceptance from everyone else. Quite simply put, Abby is a giver. And, no matter where she is, I hope she feels some of that same Abby love coming back to her from all of us - everywhere.
