Sadly, Celina does not fit the blonde-haired blue-eyed rich kid the media loves to fawn over.

...the NY Times the LA Times and the BBC would have reporters at the Assistant AG's pressers, and their lawyers would already be working on forcing the AG's office to tell what they know.

I don't know that I agree. I know of other girls who weren't blonde, blue eyed, or rich but had parents who were relentless in getting the media attention. It is as if Selena'a family haven't made an effort to get the press coverage or because it is a small town it is not available to them as in other locations. jmo

Personally, I think the current state of the media is lazy. They don't go out to find a story. They let it come to them. Just listen to the daily news. Same story for a week. So many things are never reported because it would take a effort on their part. There are so few REAL investigative reporters today. They all cover the same story and nothing else. The media coverage helps us to stay informed but I'm not sure it puts a fire under LE or actually helps to sovle the case. moo

Sadly, it appears Selena's case might not be solved but look at Lauren Spierer's, Holly Bobo's, and Brittanee Drexel's (all blonde and either rich or upper middle class families). The media coverage hasn't seemed to help LE locate or solve their cases either. Money and media aren't helping any of them.

I certainly never thought for a minute that is was a suicide or an accident but I wish they would get on with it already.

k4kathy I love your green cabbage!

Me too - I'm losing steam with cases of late --

Celina, Kyron, Hailey's (Dunn/Cummings), Rebecca, Caylee, etc., etc...no justice for any of them.

Is it just because I'm watching cases on WS or does it seem like more and more abductions, missing persons, and murders are going cold and unsolved? Not in one particular state but just about all states. Or could it be that we notice it more because of more media coverage.

It is so frustrating!

Has there ever been mention of Celina's sister, who shared the room with her, of her account of that night? Did Celina ever make it to her room? The only thing i have heard about her is that they moved out of the house after a while because she was afraid.... Like it would take that to make me move my family out of the house one of my children was taken from in the middle of the night and killed? I would have grabbed my family and run, yet they stayed there for weeks... strange.

We know Celina and her mom watched a movie and that her mom went to bed around 9. We know Kevin came home around 11. But I have never heard anything about where the stepdad was that evening, what he was doing or when he went to bed.

Wendell Noyes is no longer in the hospital. He has been spotted by locals on the street.

Sorry.

In my opinion the police and AG's office do not have the evidence to make an arrest, let alone prosecute, and I think it is unlikely that the toxicology results will help. They certainly know a LOT more than they are saying of course: they know how she was found, what she was wearing if anything, probably they know if she was sexually active and they might know whether or not she was raped, they might even have a very good idea what killed her.

They will also know as much as it is possible to know about how well the family really got along, who was a frequent guest and when and how often, they will know and have talked to everyone who knew her or the family, and the entire calender of the last weeks of her life.

And all of that, and much more, might not be enough to say that it was The Butler, in the pantry, with the candlestick -- and they need to know that, with evidence of some sort, before they can move ahead.

In other words, I believe this case is going nowhere, and when it's going nowhere the police would just as soon everyone -- and particularly the media -- forget about it. If they can possibly get away with it they will sweep it under the rug. So long as the media puts them on the spot they will mutter platitudes about their many cool leads, and stay vigilant, and these things take time, and no, no more questions thanks.

If they can get away with it they will not release the autopsy or tox tests. They wont say how the body was found or any of the things they know -- even if releasing the information might potentially break open a dead-end case. In order to get this information I suspect that someone in the media will have to take them to court and get a judge to order the informan released.

Sadly, Celina does not fit the blonde-haired blue-eyed rich kid the media loves to fawn over. If she was THIS girl...

I agree with you that it appears LE is completely in the dark on this case. More and more, I'm beginning to think that this will be logged under "unsolved cases". Although this AG is known for holding information close to the chest, the lack of information on this case is beyond usual. Stories about this case have also virtually disappeared from the local news here in New Hampshire. And there doesn't seem to be any outrage or unusual concern being voiced by the residents of West Stewartstown. I'm sure LE has at least one or two POI's in mind, but my guess is that they don't have any solid evidence to label anyone as a suspect.

Do you have a source for that info, please?

More and more rural areas too. Might just be my perception following the latest cases. IDK

Interesting fact. Only 25% of missing persons cases get solved. I don't know about murders but I predict it would probably be less than the 25%, imo

Very sad. :(

It feels like most go unsolved or cold rather quickly. I wonder if it's because LE doesn't have the manpower or funding to pursue cases?
In several situations the POI or suspect could be brought in for questioning at least.
It is very frustrating and disheartening.

Perhaps it appears that more cases go unsolved or cold because of the reluctance to bring people to trial due to the increasing difficulty of getting convictions in court.

I have wondered for a while whether WN was even still hospitalized. If that does turn out to be true, it sure shoots holes in the theory that LE hasn't made an arrest because their suspect is in a secure location.

I have to disagree to some extent. Do you know how hard Ed Smart worked to get the media coverage that he received? Yes he was rich, and yes that did give him some additional pull with the media; however, HE pushed and made certain that his daughter stayed in the media. I applaud parents that push until they get results. Ed Smart was a suspect right in the beginning; and he pushed to get polys and other information until he was no longer a suspect. He wanted his daughter's face on the news, and honestly he made it happen. Thank goodness too! IF he had not pushed, she might not have been found when she was!!

I wish that there was someone that would push for Celina. She deserves more! She deserves the attention too, but I agree with what someone else has stated - the media have become lazy. They do not chase stories, they want the stories to come to them.

Also, you have a mother that hid from the media behind a blanket. She is obviously not comfortable with the attention from the media; possibly she should get a spokesman to help out.

Even though WN makes an excellent, first guess suspect... he might just be walking the streets because of what was found on his Facebook and the way his wife feels about that discovery.

As far as the media fawning over only certain cases, I have to say that I agree with that. I never did understand the intense media focus on cases like Jon Benet and especially Natalee Holloway. Those cases deserved attention, but so did many many many others that barely got a glance (if even that). Only the names of some missing girls are household names. And yes, the missing who get the most attention are white and/or come from financially-comfortable families. And they're female. What about the boys? And the poor kids?

Rather than the media throwing all their attention and resources on one or two cases, I'd rather see a different missing kid profiled every night on the news or on talk shows. Not hours and hours of coverage, but even a short segment that gets the info out there.

Celina, Kyron, Hailey's (Dunn/Cummings), Rebecca, Caylee, etc., etc...no justice for any of them.

Don't forget little Joshua Davis, P. Barnes, or K Markham. Red and yellow, black and white, people seem to be disappearing at any alarming rate. When, and IF they are found, nothing seems to happen.

I don't want to get burned out or bitter, I just want closure and justice. On the other hand, it seems the PERPS are getting smarter, or it takes 3 men and a boy to get a conviction while it only took one monster to kidnap and murder.

There is something wrong with this picture, IMHO.

I was thinking specifically of Celina's mom when I saw a Klaas Kids promotional video recently. IIRC, it was the one in the banner at the top of the WS homepage recently. (Sorry to be vague; I don't remember exactly when this was.) I think that having a spokesperson or even just some guidance would be great.

In addition to Ed Smart, Charlene & Robert Spierer are a really touching example of parents working to make people pay attention to their missing child.

I think it is the other half of the "pretty girls go free" thing.

Look at the attention Natalie Holloway recieved; the weeks of non-stop media frenzy. The news played this one missing teen as a national tragedy.

Now look at this Amanda Knox case in Italy -- people who know NOTHING at all about the case are convinced that she is totally innocent for no other reason than that she is pretty. I think a good number of them don't actually care if she is guilty or not, she's hot and aught to go free. The US State Department actually got involved in her case, it was a diplomatic crisis that a pretty girl was in prison.

And let's not forget Casey Anthony. <Mod Snip>it isn't because of her duct-taping or lying skills. They love her fame and her frame.

And while Elizabeth Smart's parents no-doubt worked hard to keep her in the news, I would be willing to bet good money they didn't have to do a whole lot more than keep flashing her picture and giving interviews.

And I am not saying I am better than this myself -- as despicable as this may be (and I admit that it is) I care more about a missing girl than I do about a missing boy. I want justice for all of them, including that little guy (what was his name again?) who went missing in Iowa or Idaho or somewhere like that, but for Celina I want justice right f'ing NOW.

Anyway, I will shut up. Hopefully we hear something soon. I am expecting a new presser any day now, with half the media as the last one, in which the AAG will assure us that they really have some awesome stuff they are following up on, and no, rush job the toxicology tests usually take ten to twenty weeks, but they are still working hard, very hard...
