Wonder if this is part of LN's reported need for "privacy" or simply payback for AL's quotes in the press?

I don't understand why he doesn't call them. He said in the begining that he was not going to...I just don't think he had a very close relationship with his daughters and probably doesn't know that much....I could swear that he also said he spoke to his daughters and they were the ones that said they were to busy to come over, i know that alot of times kids in these situations don't want to go to the other parents house that much when they get older because they want to hang out with their friends and have fun...and yes i can see the mom getting irratated that he is saying all this to the media and all he has to do is probably call her,, i just don't understand it...sounds like an old game they have perhaps played...I also wonder how much his parents saw the girls, and why they have not called...I'm not bagging on dad, just saying it's odd. As far as having alot of people over to the house i'm guilty, i have friends over all the time, and my son's father wouldn't know who they were, we have the neighborhood kids over all the time, friends, neighbors,, all kinds of people, and nothing sinister is going on here, we are just social...and yes, i have someone in the house that has the same mental illness...and again,, nothing sinister here...

I was also wondering if anybody knew when the mom dated that guy's father, if they dated when the girls were young and dated for a long time then i don't think it would be unusual for the guy to be a big part of theirs lives, they could have grown up together, maybe his dad is jerk and he has always been closer to LN, I know that i am extremely close to my ex boyfriends daughter, she has stayed with us before,, and she has been in trouble before,, but i still love her like she's my own..

just throwing stuff out there, because we really don't know much, and it could really be very innocent.

BBM :floorlaugh: I just spit tea all over my computer.

I'm guessing that he spent the day on facebook. Just sayin'

Do we know what year the truck was? I am wondering if he bought the truck with a disability check. We are in the never ending process of getting disability for the kids' dad. It has been a couple years already. When you are finally approved, and it is my understanding that at least 2 years is the norm, you get a check for all of the back money from when you filed.

May totally be nothing, just thinking out loud. If he was let out of the military 8 years ago, and then took 2 to get that check, that would be six years ago. So if the truck is a 2005ish, it is possible he bought the truck with that check, providing there was one at all.

That's true...I am on disability, but it took 2.5 years from when I last was able to work, and I did get a large check and paid off a home improvement loan/ second mortgage...he may have bought the truck instead...

Basement...cellar...does anyone know if this is really as horror-chamber as it is beginning to sound? I mean, is this a large, finished room where maybe the girls wanted to be, or were they send below like unwanted intruders...

was wondering the same thing,, maybe they were given a choice, and they wanted to be there...

Maybe, maybe not. I lived in New Hampshire for 30 years and I don't think I ever came across a house WITHOUT a basement/cellar - everyone I knew used the two words interchangeably also.

Some basements were just large concrete rooms and usually had the heating system down there, lots of people had their washer/dryer down there and most people used it for storage areas as garages are (or WERE) less common in lots of the older homes. There was usually a door off the kitchen to go down to the basement.

Some basements were finished off very nicely and had bedrooms, bathrooms, etc.

My parents currenly live in NH in an old house, over 100 years and their basement is pretty creepy! We used to rollerskate down there as kids because it was all concrete & a smooth floor. My Mom has her laundry down there and the rest is just storage. You would not EVER want to sleep down there! My Dad's house in NH had half the basement finished off and it was like a family room, it was very nice. I'd sleep in there no problem.

There usually are only tiny windows and some homes had 'bulkheads' which are metal doors that open up out of the basement with stairs, basically another exit from the basement. My parents basement does not have a bulkhead nor any other exit, the only way in or out is through a door in the kitchen - yikes!

Sorry if that is way too much information, I know some parts of the country don't have basements so just wanted to offer what I know. We are in Florida now and I wish we had a basement!

I wonder if dad knows where mom is. She isn't in the home, for sure and if he does know where she is, I don't know if he has the number. Its all up in the air at this point. I doubt they have cell phones, since the reception was so bad up there that LE had to bring in a tower. And when we saw WN through the window at the house in VT where he was staying, it appeared that he was on a cordless phone and not a cell phone. At least the phone he was on looked too big to be a cell phone.

was he in the military 8 years ago, i don't know why but i thought he was in when he was younger, i know that he had the problem with the ex-girlfriend 8 years ago and that the court said he was ill...but i thought that the military had already medically discharged him...

If a basement has no windows then no one should be using it as a bedroom. It's a fire hazard. Does anyone know if the basement had windows?

Based on a quick glance, isn't his silver truck pretty fancy/expensive? How do you afford something like that unless you have steady income. I'd think that a consignment store job would not bring in much income at all for the family.

I wondered the same thing about all three (3) vehicles. How can they afford those vehicles? Retirement/disability checks? I don't know.

I said this a week ago and it still stands...will be SHOCKED if the person(s) reponsible for Celina's death do not come from within the walls of that house...

Can you give me the link to the news article about this: SF checked in the special place
I'm just curious about that, is all.

True.

And another scenario to think about.

Would "someone" (the suspect?) think the SF would be immediately the first one blamed if something happened to Celina?

IMO

Yes, particularly if that someone had access to SF's vehicle and car keys.

  • #133
I quoted exactly that yesterday. Pick-up do not come cheap and that Ford is pretty new.

Yes they are, especially a King Cab. However if he is retired military he has a regular income and is most likely a better credit risk than someone who has a job and may get laid off. A lot of dealerships will run the loan through various financial institutions until they get a loan approval.

I don't think that the girls having the basement room as their bedroom is a negative in any way. I've seen that enough times in my lifetime that it doesn't strike me as anything to pass judgment on. And the only reason why I would have an issue with being in a basement room by myself is that 'house settling' and other noises seem louder there. Generally, I think the whole uproar over the girls having a basement room is one of those tempests in a teapot.

I don't see why it matters how the SF acquired his truck. I also don't think it matters what he does all day since he doesn't seem to have a job. Lots of spouses don't work, and I don't see any reason to question what they do all day either.

I'm still not sure about the 'blanket' thing. I'm going to wait until I hear from LE that Celina was wrapped in a blanket before I accept that as fact.

I'm not attaching any importance to comments made by the biological father, partly because he's more of an outsider than anything else, but mostly because I don't have a high opinion of the kind of reporting that goes on while cases like this are unfolding. Reporters want the most tantalizing quotes possible in their stories to hook readers and keep them coming back for more, so I take the snippets they've chosen with a grain of salt.

BBM. My thoughts about the truck and any income relate to importance of daily timeline. Just wondering if SF and NN work or earn income other than govt. or military pay/assistance. Having tons of time on their hands with no job schedule or responsibilities would figure into a timeline of the events involving CC. Also, I know that those type of trucks are not cheap to either buy or maintain. Just curious about how the family pulls it off with seemingly only the mom's consignment shop income.

Very good points!

And BTW, FWIW, & JS'g...
I respectfully didn't look at WN through the window.:snooty:;)

Honestly, I have no idea. I will be trying to find out tho!

One of the vehicles was KMs and it was not nice, fancy or new from what I could tell, if it is the one I am thinking. I don't know the condition of the other. The Silver truck was the only nice one I saw.

Who knows what their rent is up there. Granted, it's been 15 years, but I lived in a similar home to the one they live in when I was in PA. Houge house, turned into 6 apartments on 4 floors, bottom floor was a basement that we all had access to via a door and stairs in our apartment and an entrance from outside in the back. 2 bedrooms, 1 living room, 1 dining room, 1 kitchen and 1 bathroom. All rooms were HUGE except the bathroom which was so small that you could barely turn around in it. I only paid $250 a month (granted, 15 years ago, but I doubt it has more than doubled since then, considering the tiny town) and that included water, gas, and electricity. I was only responsible for the $250 and my phone and internet.

Pre-teens and early teens want many things. I'm firm on this. An 11 yr old female pre-teen and a 13 yr old female do not belong in the semi-finished/finished basement or a cellar while an adult male sleeps in the main part of the home in their previous bedroom. Nope. Something wrong here.

There is a photo that was posted this morning of 4-5 investigators standing in
the doorway of the entrance that I've always thought led to the basement.

FWIW ... It also appears that the house is being worked on/updated.
I see new siding & sanding areas & scaffolds that painters, construction workers stand
on to work high up. So maybe the house does have a finished or at least livable basement.

When my 3 sons were in Jr Hi & Hi school, in CT, for a year we rented an old victorian house
& 2 of them shared a room. The basement was old, but had been somewhat finished off, was very clean & kinda livable.

My youngest son decided he wanted a room of his own and set up his own "pad" down there.
He hung sheets & blankets over the cement walls, we got a new large area rug... & he was fine
down there, sleeping on his mattress / boxsprings.

There was also an entryway into the basement that looked very similar to the entryway of CC's
house on the north side of the house.

ATA - I also saw occasionally those silver fish things. I guess they didn't bother him!

perhaps Sf is the one doing the work on the house.
