I was born and raised in Dover and attended UNH for my bachelor's. My sister used to live in Sawyer Mills. I agree wit you...those apartments are nice. Since that side of Dover is close to Durham (UNH), there are a lot of young people living there. I wouldn't be surprised if there were parties, etc. And I would guess the whole "10 Commandments" thing is perhaps a little joke with the UNH party crowd. But really, the mills and surrounding area is not in the least bit sketchy. Don't know what that would have to do with anything about this case anyway.

Justice for Lizzy.

I've never even heard of the "10 Commandments" thing...except for here...
I hate seeing the door to that apartment now :(
I never knew it happened here...:(

Body found floating in Sagamore Creek in Portsmouth
Police investigating circumstances of the death

Saw this story as well and immediately thought of LM. They haven't yet identified even the gender of the body...

What is interesting is Sagamore creek is extremely close to Pierce Island, but it seems to be in the opposite direction in terms of the tides/currents as far as I can tell. (And also it depends on where exactly in the "creek" they found the body).

Essentially the only way a body put into the water at Pierce Island could end up in Sagamore Creek is if the current started dragging it out to sea (but through the less obvious channel, i.e. not Piscataqua main channel), it got hung up somehow or stuck in an inlet, and then maybe the tide shifted and it pushed the body back up into the creek-- the creek is at an oblique angle relative to Pierce Island's location along the Piscataqua (which is where the main tidal current is).

Here's a map of the creek: http://goo.gl/maps/B1IFL

The area between the island and the creek is also full of little nooks and crannies and islands with small openings between the different "bay" areas. And, if my memory serves me correctly, I think at low tide there are likely large areas that wouldn't be submerged (if you look at the satellite view you can see the channels under the water).

I would be surprised if it were indeed Lizzie, but I suppose it is certainly possible-- especially if the way in which they weighted her body made it so she would only move slowly along the sea-floor and not get swept out to sea (but still able to move around and thus why they didn't find her with the initial search). AFAIK they didn't dredge the Sagamore Creek area (or any area?...just divers?).

It will be interesting to see how this plays out...

I doubt it is her. After nearly 14 months there won't be much of a body. They would have said skeletal remains, not body. And skeletons don't float. The skeleton would also have disintegrated by now and many parts been washed away.

Unless the body was stuffed in a large plastic bag and everything stayed in the bag.

I am from that area of NH and during my studies at UNH (geology), we visited a few places similar to Sagamore Creek. I would bet the creek is heavily influenced by the tides. Interesting enough, I found this article. Looks like the highest tide of the year for the area will be tomorrow. So the tides have recently been getting higher and higher. Who knows how many things have been "dislodged" from the nearby nooks and crannies.

New to this thread and probably shouldn't be judging but come on... a 30 year old hanging out with 19 year old COLLEGE girls? I get that is probably every man's fantasy but still... come on.... gross.

Also, Lizzi looks like Laura Palmer from Twin Peaks :O

Can't say I blame them for wanting to suppress their client's statements. I'm sure the info is quite damaging. Oh, and I also like the perp's attempt to escape confinement as well as his attempt to falsify evidence and tamper with witnesses. Keep diggin that hole.

AG seeks to unseal evidence in Lizzie Marriott murder case

The state Attorney General's Office recently filed a 128-page memorandum of law with the Strafford County Superior Court to support their objection to the suppression of evidence and interviews in the homicide case against Seth Mazzaglia, 30, of Dover.

" Lawyers for a man accused of raping and killing a 19-year-old college student are concerned about the effects that graphic sexual testimony and evidence would have on potential jurors, according to court documents.

Jury selection begins Wednesday in Strafford County Superior Court in the first-degree murder trial of Seth Mazzaglia, 31, of Dover. Prosecutors say he strangled or suffocated University of New Hampshire sophomore Elizabeth "Lizzi" Marriott on Oct. 9, 2012, after Mazzaglia's girlfriend lured her to their apartment."

This is the first time I have seen the rape accusation in print. This guy is one heck of a creep and I hope he..... is able to enjoy the death penalty in NH.

I can't believe she only got a few years in jail and there are people locked up for life for pot. I read yesterday about a man sentenced to 99 years for armed robbery and no one was injured. Yet this lady disposes of a murder victim and gets 3 years??!!?

This makes me sick.

Jurors in the Seth Mazzaglia murder trial learned Tuesday that they will be hearing from a witness living in an apartment complex across the river from where 19-year-old Elizabeth "Lizzi" Marriott was killed who says she heard a woman scream on the night Ms. Marriott became a missing person in 2012.

The jurors also learned that they will hear from a witness who saw "drag marks" on the trail heading toward an outlook on Peirce Island in Portsmouth shortly after prosecutors claim Mr. Mazzaglia, 31, of Dover, and his live-in girlfriend, Kathryn "Kat" McDonough, 21, dumped Ms. Marriott's body wearing nothing but a pair of blue, thong-style underwear and some jewelry into the Piscataqua River...

The jurors took a Concord Coach Lines bus from the courthouse to Sawyer Mill apartment complex escorted by two sheriff's cars. There, they took directions from presiding Justice Steven Houran, who stood tall among the crowd and wore a business suit instead of traditional robes. Mr. Mazzaglia, wearing a white shirt, vest and black slacks was not shackled and listened to the judge's instructions with his attorneys. The jurors were then led inside the building, where they passed by the apartment Mr. Mazzaglia shared with Ms. McDonough.
