My first post here and I want to address a few things. To begin with, I do believe that there is enough credible information that Lizzi is in the waters off Pierce Island to incur the costs and manpower hours of over a week long search of that area. I highly doubt so much money and resources would be wasted on searching an area if there weren't overwhelming support for such an intensive search. I also don't believe the search is being done for the family, I think it's being done so they can find Lizzi so a case can be made in regards to her murder.
Secondly, I don't buy for a moment that her death occurred as a result of orgy. The only thing the AG's office has confirmed is that they believe her death occurred during a sexual encounter. A sexual encounter doesn't have to be consensual. I also wonder if the defense attorney is the inside leak to the press. We all know it's not uncommon for a defense strategy to put the victim on trial and to hint that she was involved in a orgy makes Lizzi seem somehow culpable in her own death. For instance, it's common during a rape trial to somehow find something lurid in the victim's background to put the victim on trial and also to cause the jury to disassociate themselves from the victim. Or to take a mugging victim and make them somehow responsible by proving the victim to be irresponsible because they were in the wrong section of town, using an atm at an unsafe location, etc.
Lastly, we should also remember that the only one giving evidence at this point is SM and his version of events might be slightly skewed to support himself so he can save his own skin. Fact is, Lizzi was 19 and pretty, I know at that age anyone over the age of 25 was ancient and SM was portly and by all accounts a nerd with not a lot of prospects or money. I don't believe for an instant there was any attraction. Another fact is, even if Lizzi were a willing participant in some sexual orgy, she wasn't a willing participant in her own death.
My concern is all the summer homes in the Rye and North Hampton area and the hard to reach beaches there where she may have washed up on. Or even worse that she was quickly taken out to open waters.

I see at least a few people here turning to the idea that the body is perhaps not in the water, which is understandable since we all want the body to be found and it's been some time now. Despite the lack of success though, I believe the simplest and most likely explanation remains that she's in the water and that our impatience is getting the better of us. If the search effort has made any error, it would seem that it was in not expanding the search area soon enough. It has seemed probable, if not obvious, to anyone who knows these waters well that a body entering the water at Pierce Island (especially with any positive buoyancy still in the lungs) could well be anywhere in the Piscataqua watershed. And yet, when the police so firmly assert that they have credible evidence to believe that she's in the water, I tend to not think them incompetent enough to say this lightly and without good reason.

An observation from Seth Mazzaglia's OKCupid profile, which I've not seen mentioned here perviously, reads:



The man hated or feared plants. Outside some conspiratorial view that he wrote this to mislead us and hence taken at face value, it certainly reduces the likelihood that he placed the body in the woods or any overgrown area, often found to be a convenient and suitable hiding spot for the recently illegally departed. If not the water, or the brush, what's left within reason?

Mazzaglia was familiar with Prescott Park, having spent time on the summer stage there, and was presumably also aware of adjacent Pierce Island. Wherever the body was hidden, one might begin with Mr. Occam's principle (also that of Maimonides and Artistotle before him) and believe that the disposal area was likely a place at least familiar to the killer, but sufficiently distanced from the place of murder so as not to draw attention to its culprit. Pierce Island, I believe, still fits this notion adequately.

PORTSMOUTH — Prescott Park and Peirce Island are closed off to public traffic today due to a planned dive to search for body of college student.

Come on Seth! Give the police the location so this girl can be brought home to her family! So many cases right now where they have a suspect under arrest and know the victim is deceased and yet cannot locate them. These families need to get their loved ones home and say a proper goodbye so they can begin the grieving process.

Note the blue line (route) from UNH to Pierce Island. Go due north of that area and you will locate Dover, NH.

I am surprised that her vehicle which was found in the UNH parking lot is not producing more evidence--maybe it has--JMO

I also noted that when her telephone records were analyzed the 10:11 message that she last sent to her friend was a "text" message. It was not a verbal contact. Is she in fact is the person who sent the text message? Has that been verified and how was that done?

Not much regarding anything except water search which is now far beyond the island and moving into Rye Beach.

Thank you for the welcome. Has anyone else tried to look on the web for info regarding tidal paths or currents? I'm sure they have someone working on that but I've tried to look at data from that night and I can't figure it all out. I can't tell how the currents move in that area. I do know they've been looking as far down as massachusetts. Thing that bothers me is that this is a guy with ties to the theater in the seacoast area and I wonder if he'd have a key to that building in Prescott Park near the open theater. I just can't understand how someone could not be seen at Pierce Island at that time of night. That area always has people around, fishermen, kids smoking and drinking, etc. I just don't see how anyone could go down there and not be spotted.

The tides are so tricky. Look at the tugboat that capsized in yesterday - and boat operators who get in trouble in the area. Agreed that hearing how "smart" the alleged killer is, he would know some tricks such as how to get around Portsmouth area quietly - and of course, the tides. Could he have put her body in some other water area? I just can't imagine that they will be able to find it easily after this much time. Been keeping an eye out while walking the beach in the area, and I hope who ever does find her shows the respect and care she deserves.

I'm thinking they must have lots of information not being released, including what was found in her car.

And does anyone else find it sadly ironic that Lizzi was a Marine Biology major? Poor girl, by all accounts very sweet and kind.

Also, good point about the Prescott Park buildings. Wonder if he also had access to police scanners and information so he knew who would be in that area at the time he "may have" brought Lizzi there.

The search for the body of 19-year-old Elizabeth “Lizzi” Marriott, of Chester, continued Wednesday into the waters near Fox Point Road in Newington just north of the Peirce Island area in Portsmouth, where much of the search has been concentrated.

On a mapquest link which I couldnt seem to capture and show here I learned that the point in Newington, nh to Rye Beach is more than a 1 hr drive along the coast.

Best guess for the shown mileage is 38 + miles--IMO that is a conservative number having traveled the coast many times.--good seafood in Newington, by the way.

It is an awful rugged and long coastline along that stretch. I do wonder if she is there. JMO

Full moon this week end--tides will be extra high and low--see what it brings.

There is a serious storm projected to head up to the East Coast all the way to Maine early/mid next week. They are calling it "Frankenstorm", but it is a combination of Hurricane Sandy and a winter type storm.

That will put a halt to search efforts, at least temporarily.

I hope they find Lizzi in the next few days.

Something on the tidal schedule in the area. I picked Portsmouth Harbor because it’s in the middle of the search area.

If I’m reading the chart correctly on October 9 the tide was high (in to shore) at 6:50pm and would be going out (receding back into the ocean) until 12:15 am and would be low (out).

This is included in the time period when Lizzi went missing.JMO

The tide tables are slightly different from each location. Pierce Island or Hampton beach etc.
