Seth Mazzaglia, convicted of killing a missing University of New Hampshire student, told his mother he does not want to hear from the victim's family.

The court released a transcript of the recorded telephone conversation Wednesday. Mazzaglia is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday for the murder of Elizabeth "Lizzi" Marriott. During the Aug. 6 call, Mazzaglia told his mother, Heather, the hearing will be "a waste of my time."

"I'm gonna have to sit there for an hour and a half listening to them yell and whine and ***** and moan and scream about how I'm a monster," he said.

Throughout the two-page transcript, released by Strafford County Superior Court, Mazzaglia’s mother, Heather, asks her son to consider how she would feel if he had been raped and murdered.

“They’re in misery, I mean they’re in agony ... their daughter is lost, I would be the same if it were you but, you know, you have to sympathize with what they’ve lost ...” she said, adding, “I think they have the right to confront you because the jury found you guilty.”

Mazzaglia, who said he “wasn’t feeling particularly gracious” toward Marriott’s family, went on to say “if I had been found innocent of the big stuff like I should have been, and like I am, now then it might be a different story. Then, then I might have some sympathy.”
