Although Ebert was still uncertain about Marriott's whereabouts, Mazzaglia tells him she is dead. At 7:20 p.m. he acknowledged that the map he drew was where he put Marriott "in the water."
Ebert read Mazzaglia his Miranda rights at 1:36 a.m. At that point, Mazzaglia was back at his apartment in Dover. Mazzaglia lead investigators to various dumpsters where he claimed he had thrown away evidence after Marriott's death.

I thought the pros did a good job on redirect showing there weren't really any significant gaps.

I think that may be a nugget of what really happened that night. kat didn't need her memory refreshed on that point.
