What can Lizzi's mom add to this?

Barth beware...

He seems like a somewhat literate, at least avg intelligence, individual. Is his dress -- which is a pure showing of total disrespect for the Court and its principals, the victim, the jury, i.e., all American jurisprudence -- simply flaunting disrespect & prolly distrust, or what?? Why? (Sorry to be such a nerd, but it's irksome & pizzes me just a tad).

Impressive, huh? Grrrrr.

Did the State just subject this poor woman for no other reason than to garner sympathy for her loss and ricochet into anger at the defendant?

wise decision not to cross.....

she verifies no history of seizures and also that no one has heard from lizzi since that time......no body recovered makes that necessary :(

Also to affirm that she had no history of seizures. JMO

Unless SM was disposing of the ropes behind the convenience store and we trust Paul's story, there were no ropes seen on or around Lizzi. According to Roberta and Paul, there were no other marks on Lizzi's body which would indicate that she was not tied up. Had she been put in any restraints, her arms and legs would have marks, especially if she struggled.

In my opinion, it appears that she was suffocated with plastic bags. Paul and Roberta were never stated there was duct tape on Lizzi's mouth or body.

Ligature Strangulation

Melissa Marriott's time on the stand was brief, she established that she had last seen Lizzi on October 7th, at their family home and she was very happy. They were a close family... she first heard Lizzi was missing on the morning of October 11th and she and her husband immediately drove to NH. She has had no contact with her since then. The Defense chose not to question Ms. Marriott.

She is explaining what an autopsy is, to the jury... the general how, and why... to determine the cause of death. State's Atty Geoffrey Ward has asked her if she's testified before about ligature strangulation cases. She has.

Thank you Queen. I just think the parents of Lizzi are the ones suffering the most in this and for the State to subject the mom to verify no seizures? Couldn't a life long friend or a family physician, anyone else testify @ no seizures? I just don't like putting mom in this position.

where is this going? there is no body.

I think the "no history of seizures" and the statement of good health are important to establish.

Wouldn't you think if she were suffocated with those bags there would have been a struggle resulting with marks on her body (arms, upper chest), areas where she'd have been held down? I do however think it's significant there were no marks on her body that either witness saw.

I doubt that the state made her get up. yes they could have verified that other ways. for sure the impact was the mother sitting there before the jury...its makes it very personal...everyone knows they have not heard from her but her words have impact. I fully understand why they put her up there and they counted on Barth on crossing her. Again I'm sure she wanted to in some way participate in the prosecution of the guy that killed her daughter.

So heartbreaking that she's seen so many people who have hung themselves. Makes me tear up :(

Both Roberta and Paul indicated that those bags were tied tightly directly over the mark on her neck. So, maybe it would be more acurate to say strangulation and suffocation by the bags.

State's Atty Geoffrey Ward asks if the appearance of strangulation always looks the same... she says, "its going to be variable, the ligature is not always the same, the amount of pressure is not always the same ... and how long the ligature has been in place … if its there for a short time, you may not see marks on the neck from the ligature itself."
