This witness is adorable and so earnest. I can see why they called him. He is straight out of geek central casting, in a good way.

Theodore (The Beav') Cleaver -- all grown up!

Bench conference requested by defense after this cross exchange: HINCKLEY: you had and have similar interests to your friend.. MITCHELL: yes? Be more specific, HINCKELY: video games, role-playing games, board games like D and D right? And you’ve engaged in larping, science fiction and animee...Do you like game of thrones? MITCHELL: Yes...HINCKLEY: You may not buy the t-shirt like Lizzi Marriott, but you liked it. MITCHELL: ... yes, and the books are good. HINCKLEY: Given all these interests you must be into BDSM.. MITCHELL: That is incorrect. HINCKLEY: faulty deduction, right? MITCHELL: Yes. HINCKLEY: . faulty deduction that leads to faulty conclusions…

How can I take this guy seriously after seeing this?:floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

  • #865
Is he deaf in the other ear? This looks weird.

  • #866
He's got a little bit of rapid breathing going on. My bet :moo: is that he's been posting on social media and the prosecution just was quoting him...and defense is skeeeered where it's going.

  • #867
I wish they'd hurry up and stop torturing this poor kid, he dosn't know he doesn't have to avoid their murmurs at all costs.

Lizzi Marriott's family members sit patiently, many with arms crossed. Uncle Tony Hanna is here intermittently, and greets them all with kisses, including Lizzi's Dad. Lizzi's Mom and Dad always have support here. Many of the same relatives, but often with a few new ones that appear, likely to make sure they are not alone.

OMG this poor kid

That was really excellent work by the prosecutor, IMHO. The defense's whole reason for putting him on the stand, I think, was so that people would start to see Seth as a geeky guy who was bewitched by "engaging, seductive" KM. Pointing out that just because this guy is into things that may seem "weird" but are actually harmless doesn't mean that SM is necessarily harmless.

And this is adding what to the defence?

?? to show that Kat & (especially) Seth are just plain, normal, everyday folks, but just a bit nerdy. Good host & hostess.?? <choke>

  • #873
I think this cross is excellent. He is helping the state much more than DT

Hinckley is talking to Mitchell about the fact that he was video and audio recorded in an interview with police investigators. They spoke to him and read to him about a letter from Seth to Kat that references the name Andrew. Mitchell says he thought it was ludicrous that they'd think it was him and told them as much. (Hinckley references that Seth had a friend in jail named Andrew). But Hinckley makes the point that the interview was recorded, and that the jury would be able to see his reaction, the back and forth of the conversation, the same furrowed brow he showed to the jury here in person when it came up. Seems a way for Hinckley to reinforce to the jury his point yesterday with Lisa Greenwaldt, that her statement did not convey the context of the conversation and questioning of Kat McDonough.

Well, yeah, that part isn't very cute; but he just seems so innocent and teen-like.

Yes, he does. I feel sorry for him, having to be up there as a "friend" of that piece of carpy protoplasm. He's a victim, too, IMO, so far in the testimony at least. He's appealing in a poor innocent bystander type of role. Wrong place, wrong time.

OMG, the defense must be in so much pain. This is a windfall for the prosecution! "I will have a masterful understanding of the human psych!" and now they've got in that he was contemplating insanity, watching "I almost got away with it," and reading up about police interrogation. This is just so great.

seth was studying police interrogations and card hustling:crazy:
