I think she did as well. I just can't even fathom how you can live with yourself keeping this information inside.

I agree. He was charged with witness tampering. This too: "Adam Montgomery, Harmony's father, allegedly pummeled the little girl in the head with a closed fist on Dec. 7, 2019, New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella said at a Monday news briefing, "recklessly causing the death of Harmony Montgomery, a person under 13 years of age, under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life."
Sounds like Kayla finally talked.

Wow. I just saw that LE said that Adam Montgomery not only murdered Harmony, but that he also destroyed her remains.

But he couldn't, and never will be able to destroy the memory of Harmony Montgomery.

Edited to add: Thinking of Harmony's mother and little brother and his adoptive parents at this time.

MOO

Vividly, I recall the day when we watched the last search for Harmony a few months ago. We speculated on what LEO may be finding at the location of their former home. And, what about that refrigerator? I hope that whatever evidence was gathered helps put this alleged killer away for life. Also, it's almost certain there was a witness who finally broke their silence.

As one who does not approve of any form of corporal punishment, this news about him beating Harmony about her precious little head and pounding a closed fist upon her chest has found me shaken.

It's been 5 years so would someone kindly remind me why Harmony wasn't placed with the same family that took in her brother? Thank you, in advance.

In a nutshell, Harmony and her little brother did not have the same birth father. Brother was free to be adopted but Harmony was not because her dad, Adam, did not relinquish his parental rights. With the birth mother legally out of the picture, Adam proceeded through the court process and was awarded custody of his child. Once she was placed with her bio father and his wife, Harmony was out of the system.

Somewhere in 3 threads, I posted the link to a very detailed history of Harmony's life from birth to placement with Adam that was included in the NH study of how the system failed Harmony.

According to New Hampshire, they now believe Adam killed Harmony in early December but did not dispose of her body until sometime in March 2020, which was months that no one noticed her missing and nearly a year and a half until a search for Harmony began.

So would 2nd degree murder imply that it wasn't planned, thus a result of sudden (apparently recurring) rage?

Poor kid, so sad.

“He’s an evil person”: Harmony Montgomery’s grandfather reacts to Adam’s arrest

The maternal grandfather of Harmony Montgomery said the charges filed against the child’s father are what he’s been waiting for all along.

[...]

“He wasn’t a good person. I see it in his eyes. He’s an evil person,” said TF.

TF said he remains baffled over a judge’s decision to award custody to Montgomery in February 2019.

Montgomery had pleaded guilty five years earlier to shooting a man in the head during a drug deal in Haverhill.

“You don’t give a baby to somebody that’s like that without looking at their credentials which the judge didn’t, the system didn’t,” he said. “They just gave him the baby and that was it.”

Investigators announced Monday that Montgomery allegedly killed the 5-year-old by punching her repeatedly in the head.

“I’ve been in my bed all day, sick,” explained TF. “I knew it from the get-go. I told my daughter. I felt it.”

The couple who adopted Harmony's brother wanted to adopt Harmony as well, but she wasn't able to be adopted, they apparently inquired about adopting her, as her little brother was constantly asking about Harmony and they realized the bond between him and Harmony was so strong, they looked into finding out if they could adopt Harmony.

Not hard to fathom that Harmony’s custody given to him provided Adam an extra source of income that they continued to receive long after he killed her. Much needed extra income for two addicts who managed to do not much more than create a few extra kids to enable them to further gain money. Disgusting and disgraceful and I’m so glad I don’t live in Connecticut. We had a member here on the Jennifer Dulos thread who made many comments about how bad life was for her there. I hope she escaped and found greener pastures. At least as an adult she had a chance and a choice. This is one of the most heartbreaking cases for me ever. That precious child was failed on so many levels repeatedly. Time for a change there and everywhere. We know the nationally recognized cases but how many more are we not yet or ever to be privy to in our lifetime? God Bless the children.

Harmony Montgomery's father Adam charged with her 2019 murder

[...]

The major step in the case comes just months after investigators searched the last place the little girl lived. Former FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer believes investigators found biological evidence.

"Blood, DNA, either in that refrigerator on the floorboards in the carpet. There's no way to really get rid of that," Coffindaffer said.

Coffindaffer believes whatever was found in the house corroborated the stepmother's story.

"She lived with them, she was in proximity to him, she was married to him. She was at that house day in and day out," Coffindaffer said.

[...]

Harmony is survived by a little brother named Jamison, who was adopted by a couple now living in the Washington D.C. area. The five-year-old boy's questions and pleading for his sister prompted his adoptive parents to reach out to social workers and authorities in New Hampshire. That led to the search for Harmony two years after she went missing.

"I look at my son and there's sadness, there's anger. Why did this happen? How did it happen," said Jamison's adoptive father Jonathan Bobbit-Miller. "The system that was supposed to protect my son and his sister failed them. They literally handed his sister to a murderer."
