Wow. While I am sad about Krista's lifestyle and that she was killed, I am so thankful the baby was not harmed. They could have easily thrown her into that pond too.

I just don't understand. Why couldn't they just have stolen the drugs and money from her without killing her? Sure she knew who they were but what, is she going to call the police and say "3 guys stole my drugs?" I mean seriously.

Believe it or not last year a lady called 911 and told the dispatcher to send the police fast because some guy just stole her crack.

This whole situation is a symptom of the drug culture so many of our young people get involved with today. It is no longer possible to look at an attractive young "girl next door" like Krista and assume that she couldn't be involved with drugs. I have 4 children that are close in age to all of the people involved with this incident, and there are literally dozens of their friends who used to be the nicest kids.....until they started doing drugs. 99% of the time when these young people get involved with drugs, it's either because of the bad influence of a boyfriend/girlfriend or close "friends". Some friends of my children have done things I never could have imagined they would do. Driving around making drug deliveries with a child in the back seat is commonplace nowadays, and that's mild in comparison to what some of my kids' friends do. Not to make accusations in this case, but the kids I know of that deal drugs in my area usually do so to support their own habits. Having a part time job on the side is a way of avoiding suspicion of drug dealing from friends and family and LE. The fact that Krista's boyfriend was in prison for dealing drugs was an obvious clue that Krista had gotten involved with the "wrong crowd".

Thank God these "genius" thugs were stupid enough to use text messaging to set up this ambush. LE must have known about this text message early on. It sounds like all three killers will probably be charged with murder at some point.

What kind of a person murders the girlfriend of a close friend? Under normal circumstances, these guys probably wouldn't kill anyone; this is likely a direct result of their drug habits. Drugs claim a lot of victims. So sad that Krista's involvement with this crowd left her dead. She could have had such a bright future with her beautiful daughter. My condolences to her family and friends.

I believe it. And don't forget Misty Croslin calling 911 when she was robbed at what was highly suspected to be the scene of drug transaction. Anything can happen in a drug crowd, imo...

In this case, I bet the thugs were much more concerned about Krista telling her boyfriend than police. The boyfriend, it appears, is still orchestrating business deals from behind bars. Aside from Krista and the double-crossing "protector", the boyfriend probably has other contacts on the outside and wouldn't take too kindly to being ripped off and double crossed, much less via assault against his girlfriend... IMO...

I am very sorry for Krista's family; they've lost their daughter and now she will be remembered as being involved in selling drugs (presumably she was) instead of as a victim of a violent crime. I wish she could have divorced herself from that life when her boyfriend went to prison; if that is not a wake-up call when you have a small child, then I don't know what it. But it is not the fault of her family, who are left behind, unless of course anyone knew that her child was in the midst of all of this.

It's been rumored her route between Portland and Conway had her driving back and forth 3 times a day. It's an hour and 20 minute ride each way.

And are we talking about Krista's driving her mother's car on all these trips?! If she was driving her mother's car, then is her mother involved in this drug business? Has anyone here heard whether or not Krista's mother actually knew anything about Krista's "work" other than her waitressing? Does anyone know if Krista owned or leased her own car? Just wondering.....

None of us will have to concern ourselves with hoping "he rots in prison!!!!" There is such as thing as "prison justice," and I'm sure that somewhere down the road we'll read that "in the system" this will have gotten what he deserves by the hands of "prison justice!" There's nowhere to run in prison! The best you can do is try to hide, and eventually SOMEONE will find you!! THERE'S ONLY SO MUCH ROOM IN A CAGE!!!!!

So sad to hear this is what happened and that it was all over drugs after all I'm glad they were able to fish out the answers and get some arrests made though. It always baffles me how some people make it out of that world alive and go on to change their lives and make a better world for themselves (like I did), while others (like Krista) don't. It is true she made some bad decisions, but she is still the victim (and her poor little baby too) in all this and I don't care what choices you make...no one has the right to take another's life. Just like no one has the right to rape someone just because they were dressed promiscuously, too drunk to say no, or led them on (or any of the other poor excuses perps use). I've seen a lot of victim blaming about Krista on other websites and in news article comments. I'm glad to be a part of WS where that is not the case. I respect that even though we all have realized her mistakes, nobody is discounting that she is still the victim and the perps are still to blame. I've been a member for over a year now (and a lurker for about 2 years before that), but have only recently (in the last few weeks) started visiting WS everyday and posting regularly. And I must say, I love and respect it (and everyone and everything you all do) more and more every day. You all are true victims advocates and I'm honored to be a member here

As you well know NHGirl79, I admire and respect you!! Having said, I do hope you realize drug dealers are responsible for killing many people--and the worst part is that many of those killed are mere children or young teenagers! Not that anyone here can get inside the head of anyone else, but I'd be very interested in YOUR opinion as to exactly how Krista became a drug dealer! Do you personally believe her boyfriend influenced her in this regard? Do you believe he may have been controlling her from his prison cell? I personally would like to know at this point how much communication (phone, mail, visits) Krista had with her incarcerated boyfriend? I would welcome your ideas on the subject because I have become totally and thoroughly disillusioned with Krista.....

It is sad and disappointing that Krista chose to get involved in the drug culture. Based on the facts we now know, it cost Krista her life and left her daughter motherless.

While her family did paint a picture of a loving hard-working (waitress) single mother with an "ex" boyfriend in jail for drugs, this may indeed be how they saw Krista and what they believed. Krista may well have been a loving daughter, sister, and mother. Sadly, she was also neglectful of her child, imo. She was probably deceptive to her family about what she was really doing when she frequently traveled to visit "friends". Her boyfriend may not have been an "ex" at all; she at least was still very much involved with him from a "business' perspective.

At the end of the day, we still have a 20 year old woman who was ambushed, beaten and duct taped, thrown in the trunk of her own car, and dumped like waste into a pond while her 2 year old daughter sat unattended and at further risk in an abandoned car. I don't respect or overlook what Krista chose to do with her life; foolish, lazy, and unforgivably high risk for herself and her child. But, she didn't kill anyone; 3 grown men violently murdered her for some drugs and money. While not an "innocent" victim (imo), Krista is still the victim and I hope she can rest in peace. Also hoping that her family has the strength to raise Krista's daughter with stability and guidance; in a manner that minimizes the chances that she will eventually make the same fateful lifestyle choices as her mother...

P.s. I don't think the driving 16 hours a day and partial hairlessness of the child is confirmed to be fact. It may be true, but at this time it appears to be second-hand information and speculation.

I think the car was "Krista's" but may have been in her mother's name. I have a 20 year old daughter who I bought a car for when she was 16. The car is in my name but in all other purposes, it is my daughter's car.

I would have to agree that this appears to be speculation. I have seen pictures (see link below) of the baby from the vigil that was held for Krista and she appears to have a full head of hair (for a 14-month old)

I will be interested in the details that come out in court. I suspect that the double-crossing protector (Petelis) was contacted immediately by associates of the boyfriend after the baby was found. If Petelis was supposed to be protecting Krista during the transaction and she went missing and her daughter was found abandoned, makes sense that Krista's boyfriend/partner would look at him first. I wonder if the boyfriend sent his brother to make inquiries. I still think the brother and his friend knew Krista was at the ski resort site and pointed LE in the right direction to find Krista.

Not surprising that Petelis tried to commit suicide, he put himself in the cross-hairs of both sides of the law, imo. Not only was this crime tragic and senseless, it was extremely short-sighted in its planning and execution (thankfully). Drugs. The perp asking the intended victim to text when she arrived suggests unbelievable stupidity or impaired brain function, imo...

Such sad news.. I dont' understand why they killed her and not just rob her... Its not like she could run to the cops about it.
Some babies, like my daughter had a bald spot from how she slept. It was more around her first year of life. So it could be very well someone was mentioning something in the past. And they probably never dealt with babies who had this issue.

While I may not agree with Krista's lifestyle choices, she did not deserve to be murdered. She and her family, especially her daughter, are the victims in my eyes. I'm guessing everyone at least knows someone whose life has been damaged by drugs. I've seen it in my own family. At least in my family, no one has ever given up hope that he may someday beat his addiction.

Krista might have made a choice to change her lifestyle in the future, we'll never know. I can't judge Krista's family for what they may or may not have known. Yes, Krista put herself in a dangerous situation and was not hanging with the greatest group of people apparently. But she did not deserve to pay for her mistakes by being murdred.

I'm sorry, the comments I've read in the news reports and some of what has been implied has really upset me. Krista was a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend and so much more. That's how she should be remembered.

I have to hand it to you guys. Many of you earlier had theorized about a drug deal gone bad, and I really thought (at least hoped) that you were wrong. I should have known better!

Mandy113, I totally agree with you. No matter what Krista may have been involved in, there was always hope that she would get away from drugs. But these three guys took that hope away. And in the process they left a boyfriend/lover without his girlfriend, a child motherless, a mother facing not only the death of a beloved daughter (and also having to come to terms with her lifestyle) and a sister grieving. Not to mention the friends and other relatives. No, no matter what her lifestyle, she did not deserve this.

Now I can only hope that boyfriend will take a good look at his daughter, realize that he is her only surviving parent and I hope he will decide to change his lifestyle for the baby's sake. It must weigh very heavy on him that it was his business and his friend that killed her. I really had suspected him in the murder, but that may have been due to my own prejucidces, and not through any fault of his. For that I do apoligise.

But if she had not been involved in drugs at the time of her death, the persons who plotted to kill her would probably have lacked a motive as she would probably not have had much ready money.
