@John/Jane Doe @caradana The human skull has many decent sources of DNA and the if the skull has not been chemical treated, things should work well.We have worked older skeletal remains back to the late 1800s.
That’s amazing. Maybe you could help solve those very old cases dating back to the 1930s with little trouble.

Is there any possibility the skull may not be from the US?

Aha! That’s some good clues here! But as for searching for MPs how do we know their ancestry? It’s not that simple. So we know Greek was likely her most prevalent heritage, yes?
Greeks have unique family names, if the family did not change the family name to make it sound more American, it can be easy to know if the family has a Greek ancestry. Actually, last year the Identifiers International identified Miss X, a young woman found in Delaware and who died from sepsis, she turned out to be 100% Greek, originally from New Jersey. She has a unique Greek name Patra Patmios. The DDP also had one Greek John Doe found in Louisiana, although he was later identified by other means, but his Greek ancestry and family names were announced in attempt to identify him. He was later identified as Kleanthis Konstantinidis

Identified! - DE - Bear, WhtFem 16-25, UP7097, pregnant, in laundry bag, Mar'67 - NamUs removed

Yup! I was thinking about Patra the other day actually. Lots of -os and -is and -ou at the end of surnames. And lots of “P” names I noticed too, lol.

Maybe. They stated that she was of Greek heritage. I wonder if she herself was from Greece or had family ties there? Maybe. Or possibly from somewhere nearby in the Mediterranean, maybe from Canada, honestly I don’t even know.

Yes, I think the most common greek name I know is Papondopulus, and it also starts with P :) I checked charley project missing people database, I did not see any missing small girls with Greek last name, I don’t know if she was not reported missing/report got lost/it was natural death and her skull got stolen. In any case it looks like a tough case

TIL that New Hampshire has a fairly large Greek population. Interesting!
The area from Boston up to Manchester (NH) has a pretty dense Greek-American population. Lots of Pappases and -opouloses up here. I wouldn't be surprised if she's local. EDIT: I didn't see the "purchased in New York" part of the thread title! If that was truly what happened, this little girl's story could turn out very weird indeed.

I also checked the NamUs profile. There is no new information, though I am always surprised to see the circumstances of recovery:

The skull was reportedly purchased in New York as a souvenir around 1994. Weathering changes suggest that it had been outdoors for some time after death. Anthropology exam estimates the age to be around 6 or 7 years old. Sex has been determined to be female. Ancestry is likely Greek. The condition of the teeth shows evidence of good nutrition and adequate dental care. It is possible that the skull was stolen from a casketed burial or obtained from an unnatural death where the individual’s body had been exposed outdoors for a number of months. Death is estimated to have been between 1984 and 1992, although it is possible that it was much earlier than that.

Sorry if this question was already answered in this thread but - was LE able to identify who "gifted" the skull to the business owner ? Was he ever interviewed ?

Tammy Lynn Belanger? Missing from Exeter NH. Last seen in 1984 walking to school. I feel like if Tammy is the unidentified girl someone could have abducted and killed her. Once only skeletal remains were left I can imagine the same sicko traveling to New York to sell the skull as some sort of collector’s item. I searched as well for missing girls in states in the northeast in general who fit the Jane Doe’s age group.
I’m hoping and praying some how it’s Possibly Belanger’s
