Actively ping. But not going to argue

You may remember that a young woman was recently abducted from a Target parking lot in Overland Park, a suburb of Kansas City. Her body was discovered many miles away in Missouri. They were able to locate her by the sequence of cell phone towers that picked up her cell phone location. She had not attempted to dial out, but when her family was trying to call her the towers could sense her phone. Sadly, the authorities were not able to reach her in time. However, they were able to locate her body which was in an area where they never would have searched without the cell phone tower information.

R.I.P. Autumn

Your quote above is directly from the Snopes site. If you had copied the paragraph just after it you would have seen:
Theres nothing magical to it. For mobile phones to work they have to be in regular contact with cell towers, so when handsets are on, they emit signals (called pings) to nearby cell towers every few minutes to let the network know where they are.

Most complanies keep records of calls as well as a limited number of recent, routine locator pings.

What time did this happen:

According to Spadafora, Nicholas went so far as to speak with Donte and Justin Robinson at the Clayton Police Station. Nicholas asked the Clayton boys to “just tell the truth,” Spadafora claimed, adding the boys walked out of the police station because “up the street,” the prosecutor “had no clue” that the brothers could be involved

well this is NEW information. At what time did this "tell the truth" conversation happen? Doesn't mention it in the article.

Sadly, I really do believe Autumn was gone by the time LE was called at 9:30pm on Saturday. So for Uncle Paul to level the charge that she would "be here with us" doesn't seem to be based in reality....to me.

I agree. She was gone pretty quickly IMO. And I think LE wrapped this up pretty quickly.

Just such a senseless killing.

But she was long dead by the time she went missing. I don't get his point. Or do they believe the brothers held her for some time before killing her? Is there anything to indicate she did not die on Saturday afternoon/early evening, long before the father called police?

Here's what I take out of what he's saying. Is he blaming the search procedure or the LE in general. Because there was a specific tip/complaint about the JR and DR stealing bikes the morning of Saturday before she went there. Had cops showed up with a warrant about the stolen bikes they most likely wouldn't have had a chance to see her and kill her.

If you google joe Nicholas k9 tons of info comes up. This for example http://www.aca.org/fileupload/177/prasannak/NicholsandMeyers_web05.pdf a similar case back in 2004

I'd venture to say it was joe Nicholas whose k9 found autumn (if you recall it was a private k9 that picked up her scent)

I'd love to know when he tried to break those boys and if it was hours earlier - autumns family may have a point. Granted I do not believe it would have changed the outcome just shortened the wait for answers.

I think the only valid point is if they had investigated the saturday morning tip about the boys stealing bikes they wouldn't have had a chance to kill her.

I haven't heard about this tip. Do you have a link to that story?

Joe Nick did absolutely nothing wrong. There is no law stopping him, me, or anybody else from asking questions or talking to anybody that hasn't been charged with a crime just bc they're in a police station. Joe Nick is an asset to our state & it's a tremendous honor to call him a hero of our country. God Bless you Joe. Lord knows you're gonna need a ton of patience to get through this case. Hope you can find the strength to wade through all the bs. Jesus.

I'll try to find it someone a few days ago mentioned that they were kind of notorious around the area for stealing bikes and that very morning someone had called the cops stating that they had stolen a bike.

Completely agree. And if one of my kids went missing I'd want all hands on deck and bypass any political crap. I do remember early on that uncle Paul was concerned that the police were treating this as a runaway case early on.
