NJ - Cherry Hill veterinarian Michael Anthony found dead

Stabbed. That sounds either really personal (romantic issue, bereaved/upset pet owner) or really random (startled some porch pirate with a box cutter or such). I'll be interested to see which way it goes.

Its interesting too that literally no one saw anything. There's normally traffic with multiple elementary, middle and high schools within 5 miles of the home. I grew up in town, and graduated from one of the high schools in 2010. When these things go down, people at least have seen SOMETHING. Even with Rabbi Fred Newlander, someone saw something. Hopefully new information comes forward.
It is a relatively safe area but things do happen. I worked with someone who was shot multiple times in her car in her own driveway in this same town several years ago. Fortunately she survived after crawling back into her home. No one saw anything (it was about 6:30 AM as she left for work at a hospital) and the case is still “technically” unsolved.

What a lovely tribute. By all accounts, Michael sounds like a wonderful person. Public records indicate his ex-wife bought her own property in Fall 2018 and sold the house on Sharrowvale outright to Michael in May 2019. Without knowing the details of the dissolution of their marriage, splitting with a partner and enduring their coming out is a complicated journey. It sometimes seems like the partner coming out later in life is celebrated for their courage & bravery while the other is left to silently grieve. Jessica sounds like a very strong woman to be able to come together with Michael to successfully co-parent. The mention of Pokémon Go makes me think the boys are younger. It sounds as if the partner has been cleared. The partner’s social media has many photos of dogs & some lovely pictures with Michael. The mention of his love of running would explain why he was out early in the morning in bright clothing. Package thieves are out in full force following delivery trucks this time of year. Did he startle the wrong person? One of the earliest news stories showed PD removing a wooden box from a tree in the yard. Stabbed to death at 5:53am, body discovered at 7:10am. Surely there is some footage in this day and age.
It was 7F this a.m. in NJ.... maybe 6F at 6 a.m. Not a comfy temp outside for running or for stealing packages, though I know that some runners and some thieves are relentless.

Right, but this happened on 12/10 and the low temperature that day in Cherry Hill was 41. I’m also in NJ, though closer to Trenton, and IIRC the weather that week was unseasonably warm.

I have a Golden Retriever who is 10 and has some health issues, my vet office opens at 7am. Any chance he was up at that time ( and someone knows this) to get ready for work? IMO
some vets do surgeries early.... also vet offices have drugs so wondered if some one was trying to steal substances but I do not imagine those would be in his home

My vet office hours for normal stuff is at 8am, but if the pet has issues/surgery/emerency issues its 7am. No clue on this just going off of personal experience.

He may carry some medications for emergency or end-of-life euthanasia in the home. Some veterinary practices offer this service, though I don’t know if his did.

Several years back a VERY strange and creepy guy suddenly appeared at the barn my daughter worked and rode at. The barn was not near any areas that typically saw foot traffic as it’s pretty far out in farmland. There was an adult on the premise, but in the barn at that moment were several teen & pre-teen girls. They ALL felt suddenly creeped out and afraid. Fortunately the adult came back in the barn and the guy fled. He was never caught, but many feel that he may have been looking for drugs used in the equine world.

Nothing new. I hope it's because they're keeping things close to the vest. This info is a week old.
"Investigators released new information only to CBS News Philadelphia showing they believe Anthony was repeatedly stabbed at 5:53 a.m. last Tuesday. The vicious attack happened on the front lawn of his home on Sharrowvale Road in Cherry Hill. Neighbors say they're still shocked by what happened just up the street to a man they say was well respected."

a stabbing--it probably was someone he knew, right?

That is a very specific time - 5:53 AM. How would they know this unless there is a witness or a video/audio recording of the event? Or possibly something like an Apple Watch that has a setting or app that monitors/records heart rate, etc?

Like most murders, I expect this to be personal. There's lots of possibilities in that regard, but I wonder if he was in some sort of relationship. In any event, I expect this to be close to home.

Police aren't going to release anything unless they need help, and family members don't appear to be talking. That generally leads to silence.
As it is with most cases, I totally agree with you. I am 90% sure this is personal. And I am never 100% sure of anything. MOO

Xylazine, which is becoming more and more popular for human abuse, started out as a horse tranquilizer.

SNIPPED:
Investigators believe the veterinarian who owned Haddon Vet in Haddon Heights was out for a brief walk before he was murdered. They're asking for anyone with information to call them
Certainly if you saw Dr. Anthony walking, he was wearing a distinct bright green sweatshirt that should have stood out," Crawford said.

His obit mentioned he is an avid runner so probably not unusual for him to be out for a walk/run in the morning. Who would know that routine? I feel like the perp had to, otherwise it is probably unlikely he would be outside before 6 AM.

I am also curious about the time gap. Stabbed at 5:53 but cops didn't arrive until after 7. I find it unlikely no one drove or walked by in that whole hour unless the place his body was laying was behind a tree or something and possibly that plus darkness at that hour made it easy to miss he was laying on the grass?

I'm also very stumped about that long gap. It said an eyewitness heard a disturbance and saw their neighbor collapse on the lawn. So does that mean the neighbor didn't call it in at all or was very delayed in calling?

Or is this such a busy area that the response time of an available ambulance was that long?

Or were paramedics called & arrived right away, but it took awhile to stabilize the victim for transport?

Or perhaps the ambulance took him away immediately but POLICE didn't arrive on scene to investigate until long after the ambulance had left for the hospital?

I haven’t seen any official reporting, but I did some digging of my own using property searches and some old fashion Facebook stalking (lol) and IMO he at least recently had a partner.

This one hits close to home for me as I’m local. About 3 miles away.
sortof local to me..relatives anyway... in Cherry Hill and Haddon Heights.

There’s been hardly any news coverage locally for such a brazen crime in what I’d consider a fairly nice, suburban area. The new timeline has me absolutely baffled. People don’t end up stabbed to death on their front lawn in Cherry Hill, especially someone who seemed like such a pillar in his community. Hate crime by a bigoted neighbor? Disgruntled pet owner? Why is this crime not all over the news? People in that neighborhood should be demanding to know if there is a threat to the public. What gives?

i guess I find this very strange as well... heavy population etc.
Have you learned any more as to the low key on this one??????
