NJ - Cherry Hill veterinarian Michael Anthony found dead

I thought they were being tight-lipped for a reason. Now I’m worried they have nothing. I believe his memorial service is tomorrow. So curious what the chatter will be like there. I really hope if the case doesn’t progress family members or loved ones will start reaching out to the media for help. This case needs more coverage than it’s getting.

I’m confused how a father and well-liked veterinarian is stabbed to death on his suburban front lawn and yet there’s no coverage.
I’ve seen tons of cases like this, unfortunately. Unless there’s family speaking out, or law enforcement putting out press releases or holding press conferences, these cases just go quiet until something happens.

Arrest made in murder of Cherry Hill, NJ veterinarian

On Friday, authorities announced murder charges against 27-year-old Cristian Custodio-Aquino, of Portland, Oregon, in connection with the death of Dr. Michael Anthony.

According to a criminal complaint, officers found prescription glasses at the scene, which were allegedly tied to a purchase by Custodio-Aquino in Washington State.

Detectives say Custodio-Aquino had been acquainted with the victim and drove a black sedan. The vehicle matched the description of the one caught on video, officials said.

"The investigation revealed the suspect had previously been intimately acquainted with the victim's partner," the Camden County Prosecutor's Office told CBS Philadelphia on Saturday.

Custodio-Aquino was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force – Fresno Division in Fresno, California on Tuesday.

He was charged on Feb. 7 and remains in the Fresno County Jail awaiting to be extradited to New Jersey, as said in the release.

Officers arrived at the scene shortly after 7 a.m. and found Anthony, who was declared dead at the scene, officials said. But his suspected killer — who was identified several weeks later by prosecutor’s office officials and Cherry Hill police as Custodio-Aquino — was gone, officials said.

Authorities finally found him more than two months later in California, where U.S. Marshals Task Force officers took him into custody Wednesday, officials said; he is currently in the Fresno County Jail until he can be extradited to New Jersey.

So the killer was the wife's former intimate partner? I'm only seeing CBS reporting that fact.

Hello @azure - perhaps:
"The investigation revealed the suspect had previously been intimately acquainted with the victim's partner," the Camden County Prosecutor's Office told CBS Philadelphia on Saturday. means - the suspect had previously been intimately acquainted with the Dr. Anthony's current partner?

So, not knowing why this dumb-f*ck has brutally murdered a person who cared for & about animals, perhaps jealously was one of the motivating factors; scum-bag; I'm relieved there's progress with the case.

MOO

So very sorry to all who knew & loved Dr. Anthony.

*Thought there was a punctuation error*

Wow, it sure sounds to me like, if not for a dropped pair of prescription glasses, this crime might not have been solved—i wonder if the perp was even on law enforcement’s radar at all prior to the identification of where the glasses were purchased. Regardless, at least this murderer has been caught, though I am sure it brings little comfort to Dr. Anthony’s partner and children.

So it seems he may have murdered the vet because he feels he "stole" his former partner?

I guess that has more meaning than a porch pirate with a box cutter, but it's still awful and undeserved. He was only 45, and by all accounts a lover of animals and his children.

Thank God the killer has been caught at least. Imagine if this had become another cold case.

Yet the loss can never be undone. Poor man and his partner and children. :(

According to a criminal complaint obtained by Action News, a video shows the victim walking outside the home around 5:24 a.m. on the morning of the murder. The video then reportedly captures screaming at 5:53 a.m.

Camden County investigators combed the scene and found eyeglasses near the victim. According to the affidavit, detectives were able to link those eyeglasses to the suspect in Washington State.

"Aquino had purchased a pair of eyeglasses matching the model and prescription of the eyeglasses which were located at the crime scene," the affidavit said.

A good thing that he dropped the eyeglasses or the case may not have been solved.
