GUILTY NJ - Homeless Veteran helps stranded motorist, Motorist keeps $400k of funding, Aug 2018 *Arrests*

Oh please. There are plenty of text messages from HER regarding the scam, plus I am sure it can be shown that she used monies to purchase lavish vacations, expensive jewelry, designer handbags, etc.

And now she wants to claim she was "duped"? Nice one.
Exactly. She obviously knew homeless guy didn't give her his last $20, yet she started gofundme claiming that, gave interviews claiming that, texted her friend admitting gas story was made up, etc. In one of her text she claims homeless guy promised them 150 ( I presume $150,000 was supposed to be their share). Sounds like she and her boyfriend only gave homeless guy $75,000 so if she claims she did it to help the homeless guy why didn't they actually do what they promised for the homeless guy? And she was texting with her friends, all these texts are available, so claiming she was duped doesn't jibe with what she was texting.

Just got an email from "Go Fund Me", the money I donated to this campaign will be returned to me in the next few days which is great news. As far as these three go, I don't believe a word out of any of their mouths. I read this quote today "Did you ever notice that people who Karma has caught up with, think they are Victims" how appropriate for Ms. McClure...

I dont't feel sorry for any of them.

I could care less that JB is is homeless vetren. He WAS in on it and is just as complicite as the other two.

He did not have to go with the scam, the minute he heard about it he could have chosen to go to the police with his information, he did not.

All three deserve 10 years in prison and I hope they get it.

And who knows, If he would have gone to LE with what he knew in the very beginning, i bet they would not have even charged him and they might have given him immunity to testify against the other two.

It's too late for that now.

If he had gone to the police in the beginning, what could they have possibly charged him with? What would he need immunity for? By the way he was living on the streets, and these two decided to collect money supposedly for him. Yet he should have turned them in from the beginning? Because gas story didn't happen? That's a lot to ask of a homeless drug addict.

The scam, at least in the beginning, was supposedly to collect money for homeless veteran. He is a homeless veteran. People were donating to help the homeless veteran-it is the $20 gas story that supposedly makes it a scam, but you seem to be arguing that homeless veteran should have refused money donated to him, even though he actually was the homeless veteran? He was addicted to drugs so even if the gas story was true, I never believed this was going to end well. Then we have gofundme that for whatever reason, released the money to campaign organizer even though they claim their policy is to release the money to intended recipient. Nobody is then checking on what campaign organizer is doing with the money.

He knew what the intentions were from the beginning.

He did not have to go along with the story yet he did.

Intentions were to collect money for him ( a homeless veteran, which he actually was) so he can get a rental place. They all seem to claim that. Original goal was set at 10k. He should have turned them in for trying to collect money for him because they used a fake gas story as a hook?

What Im saying is the minute he found out they were scamming people out of their money he should have gone to the authorities and told him what he knew.

He did not have to go along with their plan.

Just because he is a homeless vet and a drug addict does not excuse the fact that he helped these two scam people out of their money.

All three would have gotten away with it if JB had not sued them.

When asked about the car and the designer handbags that the couple allegedly purchased with the GoFundMe money, Gerrow said that McClure had bought a few things with the donations ― though he tried to downplay the purchases.

“There was one handbag purchased by D’Amico ... they were bought on websites, they were secondhand. They were not all designer handbags,” Gerrow said. “In terms of the BMW, we’re talking about a 2015 BMW — hardly top of the line.”

I don't think his goal was to help the other two to scam people out of money. He was supposed to have been a recipient of the money. At least originally they all seem to claim gofundme was created to help him, with the goal set at 10k. Even the couples texts seem to support that they set it up to help him. Also it's not clear to me that he knew they set up a gofundme from the start, or if they informed him after it was already set up. Later on supposedly he agreed to share the money with them after they received way more than 10k.
He posted in 2012 a story on his facebook about helping a woman who run out of gas, using his last money. Did that actually happen? Didn't seem any money were collected in 2012. If that happened, then basis for the gofundme was a real story, although obviously it didn't happen with KM.
What I find ironic that if KM claimed that she met homeless vet on the street, and wanted to help him, it would have been a perfectly legit gofundme, although presumably it wouldn't have gotten that much money (or any money?) without a fake gas story.
Even back when this campaign just started, I didn't think this was going to end well, because he was a drug addict and giving drug addict large sums of money isn't going to end well.
Although of course KM claimed on godundme that precautions will be taken and money will be put in a trust (two trusts), none of which took place.
So I don't believe he is as guilty as the other two.
He didn't set up the gofundme, and he actually was a homeless veteran.
He might have actually given a woman his last money for gas back in 2012.
But yet he is the one held in jail while the other two were let out with no bail.
The couple texted a lot and these texts seem to support that gofundme was set up to help the homeless guy.
"...by providing him with, among other things, food, clothes, a Nintendo Switch, the possibility of a job and even giving him a house. "
Of course when they got the money, they reportedly very quickly spend most of it on themselves. But it's not like homeless guy was in a conspiracy to enrich the couple, he presumably believed he was going to get at least most of the money that people donated to help the homeless guy.

Johnny Bobbitt Jr. waived his right to an extradition hearing on Thursday, a move that clears the way for him to be sent to New Jersey to face fraud charges.

Bobbitt, 35, appeared before a Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge, bearded and bald, wearing baggy gray sweatpants and a drab prison-issued shirt, but no shackles.

While he waived his extradition hearing, he won't be sent to Burlington County until after a hearing in Philadelphia on Monday for violating his probation on three misdemeanor drug charges. If not for that case, he would have been sent to New Jersey on Thursday.

Katelyn McClure and Mark D'Amico are free on bail. Their next court appearance is Dec. 24 in Superior Court in Burlington County.

Wonderful.
And that's great that you had a heart for someone in need and contributed. I'm sorry that persons like yourself were mislead and taken advantage of.
In the spirit of the holiday season I hope this doesn't discourage people from giving to those are truly in need.
