GUILTY NJ - Joe Galfy, 73, brutally murdered at his Clark home, 13 May 2013 *'Kai the hitchhiker ARRESTED*

Five years ago, he was 'Kai, the hatchet-wielding hitchhiker.' Now he'll be tried for murder
In the span of a few months in 2013, Caleb McGillvary went from being an off-kilter hero and darling of late-night TV and viral videos to a suspected murderer, in jail and awaiting trial in New Jersey.

Now, after five years, "Kai the hatchet-wielding hitchhiker" may finally get his day in court. According to his lawyer, John G. Cito, the trial is expected to begin the first week in January.

October is preliminaries, January 2019 is supposed to be the new trial date. His attorney now has Galfy s hard drive from his computer.

Hmmm this case is extremely bizarre. I think he most likely suffered abuse, had mental issues or both and snapped on this guy. I’m curious to see what happens with this case.

'Kai the hitchhiker' murder trial to begin this week

Open arguments are scheduled to begin this week in the long-awaited trial of a man who initially gained Internet fame as "Kai, the hatchet-wielding hitchhiker," and is now accused of the 2013 beating death of a Clark attorney.

Jury selection has been completed in the murder trial of Caleb "Kai" McGillivary, 30, who is accused of killing Joseph Galfy, 73, a land use lawyer, in May 2013. Galfy's body was found inside his Clark home.

I just read the entire thread. I never knew this guy as semi-famous for his meme or whatever.

All I'll say is REGARDLESS if someone has mental issues, I feel that doesn't relieve them from their responsibility in a crime. I think he uses the internet to get fame, lives this free lifestyle that people might be envious of at times, and he soaks it all up and enjoys every second of it. I think he has some serious mental problems that have hopefully been addressed by now since his arrest, and I hope he doesn't get off on a murder charge because of whatever mental problems he has (ALL IMO.)

Strange as it sounds, 'Kai the Hitchhiker' has his own jail house Youtube channel. In this video he now sounds sane and sober as he professes his innocence.
