I just submitted Anne Manchester as a possible candidate for this Jane Doe.

I was tossing around the possibility of Laureen Rahn as this JD. She was only 14 at the time. Reported to be 5’4” and 90 lbs with brown hair. I had not seen her mentioned previously so wanted to include her here as well.

UID had the presence of parturition scars which can be an indicator of previous childbirth but it’s not necessarily always accurate as they have shown up in women that did not birth a child and have been absent in women who had a child previously so it’s not 100%.

One other interesting note is that Laureen was last seen wearing a heart shaped gold ring and a heart shaped ring was found near JD remains.

Manchester to Lacey Twp is about a 5 hour drive straight down CT-15. Not sure if there is an alternative name for this hwy.

Yeah, the fact that this is skeletonized remains without the ability to do a facial reconstruction means I think she's got a pretty wide variety of possibilities.
The ring thing is interesting. It wouldn't hurt, I don't think.

Let me know if you guys submitted Laureen Rahn or Barbara Ann Bruno! I just got back a message saying they were going to look into Anne Manchester and would get back to me if it's a match. I definitely think the other posters should send in their suggestions!

Where did you submit?

From where she was dumped, the closest road and interstate highway are Route 9 and I-95, which lead right to Ocean County. She was probably not from the area and was likely dumped in the woods.

That's why I think Anne Manchester could be a possibility. Her apartment complex in Newark, Delaware was pretty close to I-95.

You submit on the Doe Network. You'll also need to look up the NamUs profile.
Laureen Rahn is definitely a good possibility because of the age and build. I also believe that while she was described as having brown hair, it was also on the lighter side of brown.

A lot of this fits except she disappeared on January 7th, just a little under a month before Ocean County Jane Doe was found. The description of the Jane Doe sounds like she would have been dead much longer than just one month.

Still, sandy hair, a mother, between 5'0" to 5'5", and 29 years old so still pre-30. Thoughts? Hatfield Township, PA is about 84 miles away from Lacey Township, NJ.

@methodwriter85 ..I agree, Lonene looks like a good possibility except for the UID being deceased for at least a year.

Anne Manchester has been officially ruled out. Thank you to Namus for getting back to me.

I’d imagine the person that discovered her had their vehicle about like the one in this Google street image. It does look like it would be difficult to spot her from a passing vehicle despite her being about 30 feet from the road.

Yeah I agree a Jane or John Doe would be hard to see in a vehicle from 20 yards away especially with the amount of woods or trees being a heavy factor on that section of Lacey Rd. Just reading through this thread there are about 5 or 6 possibilities of who this Jane Doe could be. I know the last post that was made on here said that Anne Manchester has been eliminated as being a possible Jane Doe in this case.

I am familiar with the area. This is Exit 74 on the Garden State Parkway and the area at that time (and still is) heavily wooded as part of the pine barrens of Double Trouble State Park. No toll barriers at that time either and the exit uat that time was on the other side of the bridge, then making a right and driving down Lacey Road. This would have been an easy spot to drop off a body coming from Parkway south. I don’t think it had a traffic light at the time once exiting the parkway and making that right turn. And to this day that area of Lacey Road still has no street lights.

In 1981 this would have been the first exit after Exit 82 and points north where it was heavily populated.

Exit 81 is kinda urban going east with the municipality of South Toms River with streets like Irons St, Main St, and Water St.

That's me! Anne Manchester is my pet case.

I've seen some really good possibilities brought up, like Barbara Bruno or Laureen Rahn.

I was also looking at Jennifer Ann Prince, a 21-year old mom who went missing from Brick in 1978 after supposedly being dropped off at Monmouth Mall, but she was 5'7" and that's just too tall in my opinion.

Another person I'm considering is Lonene Rogers, who could be a really good match but the probably is that she was confirmed to be alive up to early January 1981 and she would have been dead at most a month when Ocean County Jane Doe was found. Ocean County Jane Doe was supposedly dead a lot longer than a month.

Here's a new possibility I saw:

Lorraine Rea Herbster on NamUS

She went missing in March of 1979 from Burlington County. No pregnancy from what I can see here, but the time period fits, age fits and the height isn't too off. She was 5'4"; the Doe was 5'0" to 5'3".

@Caring1 good find and I think the ring is a good potential link; there are some discrepancies but we know estimates like PMI are often proven to be incorrect. DoeNetwork has a very easy submission page. If you don't feel comfortable you can ask here and one of us other users can submit.

I think Laureen is a decent possibility. I have submitted quite a few but have not submitted this one yet.

Please feel free to do so. I would appreciate that very much. Thank you.

View attachment 411981Has Jan Cotta been ruled out?
She Disappear 30 Mins away 8 years prior to the discovery of JD
-19 years old
-5'4
-125lbs
-Brown Hair
-5-7 month pregnant
Also she was wearing a ring with a blue topaz birthstone and two diamonds. That could possibly be the heart ring if the topaz and one of the diamonds broke off.
I personally don't see Jan coming back to the Jersey Shore area after 6.5 years if she was still alive in early 1980 since our Jane Doe on this thread was found on Feb 6th, 1981. I looked yesterday on AI in a question form to see if there were any possible sightings of Jan after she left her home in June of 1973 but the AI said there have been no possible sightings of her. However one poster on the Jan Cotta thread on this site said he or she(the poster) may have seen somebody that looked like Jan but I'm not sure what year they saw this possible person. The poster couldn't place where they saw this possible person that looked like Jan either.

Hey guys, just a note about my Lonene Rogers suggestion- I was under the impression that she was from Hatfield, Pennsylvania but she was actually from Hayfield, PA, which is the Lake Eerie area. So that diminishes the possibility that it could be her as we're talking a 7 hour drive.

I feel like it's a somewhat unlikely possible match, but Sylvia Alice Lwowski was wearing a heart-shaped engagement ring when she disappeared:

2928DFNY - Sylvia Alice Lwowski

Agreed on Sylvia Lwowski, was just looking & was wondering the same thing with the ring. Staten Island's only about an hour, I believe, from where this Doe was found.

Also seeing Evelyn Louise Davis has already been mentioned, totally agreed on her as well. Missing June 1979, 16yo, reportedly picked up on Penna Ave. next to Franks Carryout in East Liverpool, Ohio, four months pregnant at the time of her disappearance. According to another source she already had a child that was stillborn by the time of her disappearance. As other poster noted, Robert Wooten has been noted in association with this case. He was evidently the last person seen with Evelyn.

Seeing Lorraine Herbster already mentioned, agreed. 1979 Westhampton Twshp NJ, 17yo, 5'4", brown hair. Jewelry mentioned, specifically a ring but cat's eye ring. 54 minutes to Lacey Township. Images are black and white, cannot tell shade of brown on Lorraine's hair.

Karen Lynn Zendrosky, Mercer County NJ 1979 16yo, 5'2", hair on the somewhat lighter side of brown. Mercer County about an hour from Lacey Township NJ. Last seen at a bowling alley Oct 1979. Rumored that remains are buried in sludge pit associated with township’s wastewater treatment plant which is half mile from the former bowling alley she disappeared from.

Jacqueline Lerman, March 1979 Rockaway Beach NY. Unverified sightings for her in NJ since her disappearance. 5'3" brown hair 24yo. Black and white images, hair looks on the darker side of brown.

Katherine O'Neil Anderson, Chester MD 1979, 5"3", 24yo blonde/light brown hair, in April 1979, she traveled to Annapolis for car repairs, picked up her vehicle from the Tate Dodge dealer, and was never heard from again. Annapolis about 3 hours from Lacey Township. A lot of jewelry mentioned with Katherine.

So i submitted Selinda "Cindy" Winegar, age 17, yesterday. She went missing from Vermont in 1979. About 5'3, weight 105 to 120, and had sandy colored hair. She was know to wear rings on every finger.
Could the ring be C W instead of E W? I will post if and when I hear bk from Doe Network.

The great thing is that we can keep this up. We already know Anne Manchester is Exclusion Number 1.
