On Sunday, around 1 a.m., officers were at the scene of a car crash in Evesham Township, New Jersey, when they spotted a white Hyundai Genesis speeding west on Taunton Lake Road, according to police. Investigators said the vehicle was traveling 80 mph in a 45 mph zone and it appeared to increase in speed as it passed the officers.

The officers described the car to other officers in the area. The Genesis was then spotted on Willowbend Road at the intersection of Evans Road. When an officer tried to initiate a traffic stop, the driver of the Genesis, identified as 24-year-old Marc Ferraiolo, allegedly failed to pull over and ran the red light. The officers stopped pursuing Ferraiolo due to the risk it posed to them and the public, investigators said.

An Evesham Municipal Court judge was contacted and an arrest warrant for eluding was issued for Ferraiolo, according to investigators. Officers then responded to Ferraiolo’s home in Evesham Township to serve the warrant and take him into custody.

During the incident, Patton allegedly interfered with the officers’ actions and threatened to kill them. She was arrested at the scene.

Marc Ferraiolo, 23, of Evesham, New Jersey, was arrested by the Evesham Police Department early Sunday morning and charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder of a police officer, two counts of third-degree aggravated assault on a police officer, two counts of third-degree eluding, four counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief and fourth-degree injuring of a police canine.

His wife, Ruth Patton, 42, was charged with third-degree terroristic threats and fourth-degree obstruction of justice.

Press Release: April 30, 2023 Critical Incident

Press Conference Video:

On April 30, at approximately 1AM patrol officers were on the scene of motor vehicle collision when they observed a white Hyundai Genesis traveling west, on Taunton Lake Road at a high rate of speed. The estimated speed of the vehicle was 80mph in a 45mph zone and it appeared as if the vehicle increased speed as it passed officers investigating the collision.

The officers radioed a description of the vehicle to other officers in the area, and the vehicle was located on Willowbend Road at the intersection of Evans Road. When an officer attempted to initiate a motor vehicle stop, the driver of the vehicle failed to pull over and ran the red light. The officers recognized the vehicle due to numerous recent contacts and identified the suspect as Marc Ferraiolo. The pursuit was terminated due to the risk posed to the officers and the public.

Evesham Municipal Court Judge Caplan was contacted and found probable cause for the issuance of an eluding warrant for Ferraiolo. Officers responded back to the area of Ferraiolo’s residence to serve the warrant and take Ferraiolo into custody.

While officers were in the area of Ferraiolo’s residence, he was observed operating the same vehicle and pulling into his driveway. Ferraiolo’s wife, Ruth Patton, exited the vehicle at which point officers pulled behind Ferraiolo as he remained in the vehicle. Officers gave Ferraiolo commands to exit the vehicle which he ignored. Ferraiolo drove forward and quickly put his vehicle in reverse and pulled out of the driveway at a high rate of speed, almost striking two officers. While exiting the driveway Ferraiolo struck one police vehicle which contained police K9 Tango. This appeared to be a purposeful collision with a patrol vehicle. Ferraiolo then drove directly towards two officers who had evaded him while he was backing out of his driveway. This was also a purposeful act to hit the officers with his vehicle. Ferraiolo continued to drive across neighboring lawns and purposely rammed his vehicle into the K9 vehicle with maximum force three more times before attempting to flee again.

As Ferraiolo was fleeing the location he struck another responding patrol vehicle before continuing east on Marlborough Avenue at a high rate of speed. Ferraiolo then struck another patrol vehicle and a parked vehicle on Marlborough Avenue by Azalea Terrace. This final impact disabled Ferraiolo’s vehicle. Once Ferraiolo’s vehicle became disabled officers immediately approached, and found Ferraiolo still in his vehicle. Officers broke the window to Ferraiolo’s vehicle and removed him. He was provided with medical attention at the scene and transported to the hospital for evaluation. During the rescue of Ferraiolo from his vehicle, his wife Patton, interfered with officer’s actions and advised that she would kill officers. She was subsequently arrested at the scene.

Several officers sustained non-life threatening injuries and were treated at the scene. The police K9 is undergoing veterinarian care due to being in the K9 vehicle during four significant impacts to the vehicle.

Attempted Murder of a Police Officer: 2 counts (1st degree)

Judge orders them to remain behind bars:
Superior Court Judge Terrence Cook also denied release to Ferraiolo’s wife, Ruth Patton, who also was charged after a chaotic incident outside the couple’s home on April 30.

“You will remain in custody until your underlying criminal case is fully concluded,” Cook told Ferraiolo, 23, who stood motionless throughout the virtual hearing.

Patton, 42, who is being held in Atlantic County Jail, frequently shook her head and frowned during her session.

The ruling came three days after neighbors at a community meeting expressed fear over the suspects’ possible return to the Heritage Village area.

Just watched the video of the incident. Shocking. It's a miracle no one was seriously hurt!

Can't find anything about them being tried/sentenced yet.
