DeMartin and her mother were scheduled to go shopping on Sept. 24, a Saturday, for their upcoming trip to France, but she never showed. The trip was covered by DeMartin's frequent flier miles, her father said.
"It would be impossible for her to leave her mother stranded," Richard DeMartin said. "It wouldn't happen." DeMartin had been in Maryland on a business trip, but she returned home Friday. Her personal belongings, including her dog, cell phone and credit cards, were all found in her apartment.
