I’m wondering if the FBI ever went back to question the male prostitute that stated he saw a video of Mark being tortured years ago? That was one thing that seemed pretty far fetched to just be a made up story by the male prostitute. From all of the hundreds of video tapes that were found seems odd that all were of consenting adults.

Maybe I'm mixing my people up, but IIRC he passed away a few years back and was terminally ill when the Vanished episode came out.

Why haven’t I heard more about this case?

I know with “Missing White Girl Syndrome” a lot of the focus is on the race aspect, but I think there should also be focus on the sex aspect as I don’t think missing boys get the same attention as missing girls.

Mark Himebaugh reminds me a bit of Nicholas Barclay (à la Imposter doc). Angry, rebellious boys who didn’t have many people looking out for them. Ideal for an opportunistic kidnapper to grab him in the chaos of a brush fire. Poor buddy.

From where are you forming this opinion about his personality? It just isn't my impression.

I don't know that the "village looking out for all of the kids" idea was ever really the way it was anywhere, unfortunately. I wish it was.

Uh, The Charley Project specifically refers to Mark as having been emotionally disturbed and prone to angry outbursts. He was also being treated for OCD, for which he was prescribed Prozac. Feel free to read more about the case.

I stand corrected. It wasn't something I had remembered. I think of the case from time to time.

I think kids who struggle emotionally need to "play outside" a lot, but at the same time, they may then be more naive/vulnerable due to lacking confidence. I wish his case would be solved.

In the book they describe Marks dad filming scenes with Mark and his girlfriend, Mark and another stranger raping Marks girlfriend, if this took place in 1991 how has their not been any digital evidence of these films, a film involving Thomas Buttcavage? I believe their was a pedophile network who was involved in the kidnapping that had connections to Buttcavage and the father. The man in the pony tail had reddish brownish hair, and Butcavage clearly dark black, so maybe it was some one else connected to the network.

I grew up seeing his missing poster everywhere. I lived in PA and went to the beach in Jersey so his abduction was kind of local for me. The pedo that may have kidnapped him was in PA. I tried writing to him and Butcavage blocked me.

What?? His father videotaped a young girl getting raped. Is this for real?

Yes His father would videotape Mark and his girlfriend doing sexaul acts than Mark's father and another man would take turns raping Marks girlfriend who was 11 years old. Marks dad would threaten to kill mark and his girlfriend and his family if they went to the authorties. This is from the book Where is Mark it is free to read if you sign up for a free kindle unlimted account on amazon. I just feel like their should be more pictures and video evidence than the video the male prostitue had seen in 1993

I am currently listening to the Vanished Podcast about Mark. The information about his father has, so far, not been discussed. In fact, there has been zero mention of Marks father. The statement above kind of caught me by surprise yet seem to tie in with some things a detective interviewed mentioned all with regard to the tracking dogs finding not trail of Mark leading away from the house.

I did some quick searching and there is not much mention of the father. There were some suspicions based upon his behavior after Mark's disappearance. If the father did the things mentioned previously, was he charged, tried or convicted?

He was not charged with any of the disturbing acts which I have discussed. However his barbershop singing group had connections to the main suspect Thomas Buttcavage.

Seems odd that he was not charged.

I'm sorry. This took a very strange twist on this last page. What in the world. I am going to be digging into this one. Dad doesn't sound like a guy on the up and up.

I just watched a you tube video with Luis A. Bolaños regarding the case. He said a man who was Marks age knew the girl in the park with the Blue and Orange jacket. Were she lived were she went to middle school. If this tip is followed why has she not reached out to police about seeing Mark and the creepy man with the long black hair? He said her name was Jess or Jessica. Seems like an easy tip to follow.

I've followed this case and always felt something was not right with his disappearance.

Most missing children knew/know their abuctor or killer. In doing a quick Google search, here are some stats.
Crime statistics have shown that the majority of abduction cases are committed by family members. However, 28 percent of kidnappings are committed by strangers.

As someone posted above about the fathers, is he still alive? Has there been any issues/problems with the father since his disappearance or any of the family or friends, parents of friends, neighbors etc. since he has gone missing?

There is that 28% chance a stranger took him, but I'm curious to know if there is any additional information on dad, family/friends/neighbors on his street or around his old neighborhood? Did the mom also have suspicion regarding the dad? Some pretty sick 🤬🤬🤬🤬 in the book. So sad, 11 years old is still a baby to me.

Also, what alibi did the father have? Both parents were ruled out as suspects, i still have doubts. I know we were a lot more free as kids in 70s-90s, so I don't blame the mom for her choice, just curious what errand she ran, where did she need to go right when her son came home? She couldn't run out when he was in school? Where was the brother? Was he home? I dont like to cast shadow on the family, but you have a kid taking medicine for behavior problems, a dad removed from the home, recently single mom with a lot on her plate. How many witnesses saw her leave or at a store? Saw Mark alone wandering the neighborhood? Was the mom dating? Some parents snap, ex. Diane Downs. Could his behavior issues, cost of meds, dad leaving be too much?
