Also clueing me in to the fact they are likely being launched from boats as @Warwick1991 suggested: ‘Most of the drones have been spotted along coastal areas, and some of the devices were recently spotted over a large reservoir in Clinton.’

I’m off the coast in Florida ( Palm Beach County) and there have been reports the last few nights of drone sightings.

Let us hope that they have bigger dreams for their deadly payload than suburban NJ. This would be like envisioning retail domination and then launching in Iowa. No self-respecting terrorist is orbiting Scotch Plains, New Jersey, we aren’t even a good symbolic target because you’ve never heard of it, right? Precisely.

My sister is in the central Jersey suburbs, a bit to the south of you.

She personally hasn’t seen anything but on her internet community board, many people are claiming to see them.

I’m an agnostic regarding these lights and what they signify.

Speaking only for myself, I do not believe in aliens or UFOs. My dad does and I always ask him why they don’t land in Times Square or even in a midsized town like where my parents live in Florida, instead of always being claimed by a person in an isolated area without other witnesses.

I live in a highrise co-op in NYC. I’m on a high floor and am blessed to have superlative views to the west, south and north. Lots of sky, but I’ve seen nothing other than the usual airplanes.


I’ve theorized as to what I believe is happening but haven’t landed on an answer.

What I see on the news, with some of the lights zigzagging, cannot be a typical airplane pattern. Yet I think if these were all enemy aircraft then they wouldn’t be so blatantly calling attention to themselves.

I agree that if this were U.S. governmental experiments or whatever, then the governors would have been alerted.

I’m not sure how much of this is drone hobbyists who now are really into making a splash since the sightings began, just to amp it up.

I’m not in favor of shooting them down, due to the debris landing and potentially harming people or property on the ground.

I really just don’t know what I think.

Someone in Florida shot a drone down and got arrested because it was a Walmart drone. In the videos I am seeing there seems to be different kinds of "drones." Your typical military or hobby drone, an actual airplane (with FAA red, green, and white lights), and then an orange or white orb looking object. The drones seem to be following the orbs.

BOSTON – Two people were arrested Saturday night in Boston for what police describe as a "hazardous drone operation."

Robert Duffy, 42, of Charlestown, and 32-year-old Jeremy Folcik of Bridgewater were arrested on Long Island in Boston Harbor.

Both men are charged with trespassing. Additional fines or charges could be added, Boston police said.According to Boston police, an officer spotted an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) flying close to Logan Airport. The officer was able to find the drone's location, altitude, flight history and track the operator to Long Island. Because the drones were close to the Logan Airport airspace, Boston police worked with Homeland Security, Massachusetts State Police, the Joint Terrorism Task Force, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and Logan Airport Air Traffic Control as part of its investigation.

Florida also - reports all across Pinellas and Hillsborough last two nights. Same green and red lights, but I’m a bit suspicious… MOO

IMO these latest reports are now simply distractions or potentially even a ‘copy cat’ situation. Add ons.

And unfortunately, IMO, this also serves largely to remove the ‘heat’ or emphasis on the authorities to answer exactly what has occurred in NJ. So unfortunate. Those with either authority or responsibility need to answer what was experienced.

I don't know what to think, either, but lean toward the aircrafts having explanations that do not indicate anything dangerous. I try to be reasonable and not sensational, though the thought has crossed my mind the worry about the drones will be used to garner American support for an expensive iron dome or similar project.

Strange lights flying over Southern California have some people wondering whether drones are watching their communities.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but it's crossed my mind that they could be a foreign entity gathering sensitive information before the "changing of the guard". IF this is the case, they apparently have the blessing of the current administration to do so. Not good. jmo

Could be scouting sensitive areas, creating a list of locations. Then maybe not each target individually but if you DDOSed each high profile target for maybe an hour or two hours it could cause huge damage to some places. Would be much more cost effective than using bombs.

But the fact that our govt shot down a balloon, but are not worried about these at all means that it’s them, our government. And in that case they could be gathering information from cellphones, it could be a new way of searching for terror groups in the US since the borders are open.

But the fact that our govt shot down a balloon, but are not worried about these at all means that it’s them, our government.

I think what concerns folks, though is the fact that the balloon wasn't shot down until it had been clear across the country (and it wasn't ours). Not knowing the origin of the drones has people wondering if that will be the case here (sightings for nearly a  month and counting, yet crickets from top brass). Having said that, I hope you're right.

And in that case they could be gathering information from cellphones, it could be a new way of searching for terror groups in the US since the borders are open.

While others are speculating on if the drones are doing surveillance, I wonder if they are carrying a deadly payload in the form of a chemical or bio weapon? JMO

This was my thought at the beginning of this thread. I remember quite well the talk after 911 of the possibility of contaminating our drinking water. It didn't happen and hopefully it never will but it's something that came to mind after living through 911 and the aftermath.

I don't know if this is reassurance, but I think the water supply sources are carefully watched and would catch someone/something contaminating the water. Hope so anyway.

They been spotted off the coast of California as well.
Damon Angel, who goes by the name Nomad, said he's been watching them since last week and recorded a video Tuesday night.

"There was a couple that were like really close, and they were about the size of a car," he said. "Everybody keeps saying that. It's probably getting annoying now, like they're not little and they move really fast."

Eyewitness News cannot confirm what the videos show, but found several people who said they saw similar lights, like Therese Downing, who watch from her home.
