Not a lot of information on this case but the details that are public seem very off to me.

Missing Since 12/26/1994
Missing From Eatontown, New Jersey
Classification Endangered Missing
Date of Birth 07/27/1971
Age 23 years old
Height and Weight 5'0, 100 pounds
Clothing/Jewelry Description A yellow Indonesian dress or light brown Indian-style pants and a matching top, a green wool coat with blue and white stripes, and white canvas shoes.
Distinguishing Characteristics Asian female. Black hair, brown eyes. Iyer has an olive-colored mole on her left hand. Her ears are pierced. She was born in India.

Iyer was last seen in Eatontown, New Jersey on December 26, 1994. Her husband came home to their apartment and discovered Iyer was missing and their nineteen-day-old baby was left alone. She left behind her passport, clothing and personal belongings. She has never been heard from again. Iyer had married in her native India in January 1994 and moved to the United States shortly afterwards. She and her husband lived in East Brunswick, New Jersey before moving to Stoneyhill Apartments on Stoneyhill Road in Eatontown. Their son was born on December 7. Her husband stated she didn't know anyone in the United States.
Iyer is missing under suspicious circumstances and foul play is suspected in her case. After she went missing, her husband and son moved to India. Her disappearance remains unsolved.

I wonder what happened to Usha her case is very mysterious as there wasn't any reason for her to just go missing and leave her newborn child in the cradle.

I find it odd she disappeared a day after Christmas. She is in her early 50's now if she is alive. I agree with the posts above that it doesn't make any sense that she would leave like that with a newborn at home.

The differences between the 2 pictures:

1.) She looks White-Indian in the 1st photo but in the 2nd photo she has a light brown complextion. Is the one photo where she looks White-Indian is that just from lighting?

2.) The nose nostrils flair out more in the 2nd photo whereas in the 1st photo they don't really flair out at all.

3.) The mark(its called a Bindi) in the middle of her forehead it looks tastefully done (placed and shaped). In the 1st photo her forehead doesn't have the bindi on it.

The 2 pictures do line up well with each other that's partly why I wrote this post.

her son wrote on reddit that he still doesn't know what happened to his mother and wants help, he currently lives in Canada and his father doesn't really speak to him about his mother.

Usha Iyer disappeared from New Jersey, which is not far from NY. A pig pendant was found alongside this UID, which is thought to symbolize the ‘year of the pig,’ a time of great significance in Asian culture. It is also indicated by specific years; one of which is 1971, the year of Usha’s birthday.

I think she was alone during the day and didn't know many people which could have made her a target for the wrong person... maybe someone who lived in that compound... Very sad...
It's definitely sad...I think it's possible that someone who lived in the compound targeted her...if she really didn't have any acquaintances the people who lived around her would probably be the ones who knew the most when she was alone and vulnerable...even if she didn't know anyone in the US, if it was a neighbor of hers it's possible that she would have seen him around and was familiar with his face which made her feel comfortable enough to open the door for him...and even if she didn't know him it's possible that she wouldn't be able to fight back if an intruder broke in...I also think she was possibly suffering from postpartum depression... It's a very disgusting thing...plus arranged marriages are quite common in modern India and if you add to that her isolation and postpartum depression it can be the perfect basis for suicide...I hate to say it but it looks like suicide...
whatever
Rest in peace

I’d love to know the last reported sighting of her from someone outside of her family unit.

When was the last time her family in India heard from her? I am guessing that she didn’t go to work seeing as she was taking care of a newborn.

Women like her tend to slip through the cracks. I don’t want her to be forgotten.

I wonder if she was suffering from a puerperal psychosis ?
It is much rarer than postpartum depression (1 to 2 woman/ 1000) but it's a serious illness which can cause hallucinations, depression, suicidal thoughts .. and it generally happens within the first weeks after the baby's birth. Obviously her husband would have seen that something was wrong, it's not something you can hide imo.
I wish we could have more details about how she was doing before her disappearance.
I can't see no other reason to leave your 19 days old baby by himself (if that's really what happened...only the husband knows..)
