GUILTY NM - Alexis Avila, 18, caught on camera tossing newborn into dumpster, Hobbs, Jan 2022

Honestly, it's just evil (unless someone is severely unwell).

Unless they meet the legal definition of insanity, which she didn't.

When she took the stand, did she say anything that stood out?
I wonder still about her mental health diagnoses. Why murder your baby when most new parents just want to pick up and cuddle their newborns? Did she claim remorse?

No, she was cold. The only remorse I saw was that she was caught on video. Her mental health diagnosis? If I was to guess, reactive attachment disorder as a child. Grow up into sociopath. Zero feelings or empathy.

The problem I had with her, was throwing the bag out of the car, complete toss. She had absolutely no feelings for the baby in the bag.

Do not know how far back I posted the last docket update - couldn't find it...

I did notice the time of sentencing was changed from 2pm to 9am.

Judge Kristina Bogardus and Judge Jane Yohalem of the appeals court reversed Judge Cortez’s ruling. The judges cited the case of Portales daycare owners Mary and Sandi Taylor, who are accused of killing one child and injuring another by leaving them inside a hot car in July 2017. In that case, the two appealed their conviction and have been out of prison since then, awaiting a New Mexico Supreme Court ruling on the appeal

I could not find my notes on her - but here is the appeal in the NM court site - I can not find if she is back in jail though - sorry.
