I was afraid if this. If the news was good, it wouldn’t have taken so long to divulge. Sad news. RIP CC. :(

Very sad news indeed. The immediate announcement that no further updates will be revealed and the fact that the moderator (connected to Craig’s family) even responded to a commenter reiterating the same, makes me wonder if this was a suicide and the family does not want to continue the discussion. It’s possible that they are saying this out of respect for the investigation but it seems odd that they would suddenly decide to stop sharing info at this stage when so many people are interested in finding the suspect(s). Only time will tell as the Coconino County ME (or whichever county Craig was located) will disclose the results of his autopsy relatively soon if it is not related to foul play. There is a good chance they will hold back on the release if this is still an open criminal case.

Spokesperson has stated it is an ongoing investigation so no details will be released. Presently waiting for an update from Coconino Sheriff's Department. So, so sad. :'(

PRESS RELEASE: Body found in Arizona confirmed to be missing New Mexico man
August 29, 2019 Farmington Police Department Press Releases

(Edited to remove image)

Farmington, N.M. – The body of missing New Mexico man, Craig Cavanaugh, 44 of Farmington, was identified today in Coconino County, Arizona. Farmington police detectives have been working closely with both Coconino and Navajo County in their search for Craig since he went missing in early July. Coconino County Sheriff’s Office and Navajo County Sheriff’s Office are now taking over this case, as a death investigation. There have been two suspects identified in this case, and it is still an active investigation.

Cavanaugh was last seen in Farmington on July 4, 2019. He was headed to Peoria, Arizona for a job but never arrived. Cavanaugh’s phone was last pinged in Payson, Arizona and a witness stated they saw him in Payson, but no other evidence supported that statement. Cavanaugh’s credit cards were used by two males in Payson, Glendale, and Peoria between July 5 and July 7, 2019. Cavanaugh’s 2012 Toyota Tacoma truck was recovered on July 12, 2019. The males using the credit cards were identified by Farmington detectives working with Arizona law enforcement agencies. Craig Cavanaugh’s body was located by Navajo County and Coconino County deputies.

Coconino County Sheriff’s Office will be the contact agency for any further tips or information regarding this case. They can be contacted at 928-774-4523.

Thank you for sharing! From the tone of that article it sounds like this really is a homicide. God bless Craig and I hope whoever did this faces justice. Btw, still can’t believe the two geniuses in the Home Depot footage haven’t been found and spoken with yet.

BBM... that we know of.

No matter how much we "just know" how these things will end sometimes, you never stop hoping for a happier outcome.

My heart is broken especially for his little girls.

The page admin has stated they will keep the page open for those wishing to follow the case. I am hopeful the next update will include "ARRESTED".

MOO

RBBM -- This statement is kind of confusing to me. It says the men using the credit cards were identified by Farmington detectives, but then it makes it sound like they have no suspects or that they haven't been talked to. Do they mean just that LE identified the use of cards through their investigation, or do they mean they actually identified the two men and now have names?
