NM NM - Joel "Deano" Valdez, 36, traveling from a job in Silver City to his home in Coyote, white Chev truck, got gas in Santa Fe, 18 Sep 2025

According to this article, someone called 911 to report that 3 people were breaking into a truck and the person inside was yelling for help. Sounds like a robbery and assault are taking place - yet, the LE who were discharged divert to go to a ‘higher priority’ call instead. Really? Someone is being robbed and violently attacked.
IMO This death could have been prevented and the criminals caught. 🙁
"According to police records, when an officer finally arrived at the scene 45 minutes later, there was nothing to report. KRQE News 13 is cautioning viewers that it is not clear if the 911 incident had anything to do with Valdez or his pickup truck."

What do they mean 'nothing to report?' Was the truck in question there and the driver safe? There and empty? Missing? I'm assuming if the truck was there, they could run the tags and see who it belonged to.

According to the 911 calls on 9/19, it was definitely Joel's truck because the license plate was quoted in one of the 4, 911 calls. This incident, adjacent to the Agape House (formerly Pete's Place) occurred the day after Joel was passing through Santa Fe on his way home to Coyote. I'm thinking that the assault on this young man occurred the same day he was traveling through Santa Fe on the 18th and that his stolen truck was apparently hijacked at the Agape area location on Harrison Ave the next day. I do not believe Joel was in the truck at that time and that he may have already been deceased, location unknown. This is speculation based upon the many rumors and conflicting reports. Hoping he will be found soon and returned to his grieving family.

His wife describes Joel “Deano” Valdez as a loving father to three young children and “amazing” husband who served in the Marines and had been working on a project across the state as a journeyman lineman.

*****
There have been no signs of 36-year-old Deano Valdez or his truck — a white, four-door Chevrolet — since Sept. 18, the day he left Silver City to visit his wife and children in the small Rio Arriba County Community west of Abiquiú. Bank statements show he last stopped in Santa Fe that day.

*****
A state police spokesperson confirmed the agency has opened an investigation, but he declined to provide any details about what detectives have found so far.

*****
bank statements showed he stopped in Santa Fe twice that afternoon (Thurs.)

Vikki Valdez said her husband stopped at an Allsup’s on Cerrillos Road for gas, and he stopped at a Wells Fargo bank branch on Cerrillos to withdraw money. The amount he withdrew seemed normal, she said, noting it wasn’t a surprise.

The route to Coyote would have taken Deano Valdez through Española and up U.S. 84, through Abiquiú, and then west across N.M. 96.

“Along the way, he has his normal stops. He usually stops at the same gas station, the same ATM, so we can track him through Santa Fe. He texted his wife saying he was leaving Silver City,” said Garcia (Cousin.).......

After that, his trail vanishes. The family mentioned there were some concerning charges in the days to come.

*****
People are suggesting, ‘Oh, has he ever disappeared? Is this in his character?’ It’s completely out of character,” said Garcia.

Garcia asks anyone who knows anything about his disappearance to contact New Mexico State Police. She said they plan to launch a search party on October 4 in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, based on possible sightings of the truck. Garcia can be reached at 505-362-4738.

I watched an overview of this case yesterday on the John Lordan/LordanArts YouTube channel. It was confirmed that his truck was seen close to a homeless shelter & a woman was passed out inside, if you take her mother's word for it. Plus with his 💳 being used after he went missing, I think I can safely say that Deano didn't have a simple accident. Unfortunately it's looking more like he was the victim of a crime. I just keep wondering if someone saw him taking money out of the 🏧 & maybe he stopped for food or something since he had cash & someone somehow took advantage of him. I feel so awful for the Valdez family, especially with it only being 5 days before Christmas. 🙏🏼
