Circumstances of Disappearance

Nancy and a family member left their Taos home and traveled to the airport in Amarillo, TX on May 29, 1980, where Nancy was catching a flight to Dallas, TX. Nancy never arrived at her family member's [house] and has not been seen since.

I looked Nancy up on Newspapers.com

According to reports, the family member who took her to the airport on May 29th was her second husband, Wayne Craddock (now deceased). They married in 1973.

Amarillo, TX is a 5 hour drive from Taos, NM. Is there a reason why they would they not go to an airport in Santa Fe or Albuquerque? The airline could not confirm if she boarded her flight, as back then, passenger lists were not kept past 24 hours. Wayne reported her missing in Taos on June 4th and in Amarillo on June 6th.

Did anyone see Nancy or Wayne at the airport on May 29th? Specifically, did someone see Nancy in the “waiting room”?

In 1981, her daughter filed for conservatorship of her missing mother. In 1985, Wayne ultimately gained control of Nancy’s estate. Her will was dated 4 months before her disappearance. The article mentions that “the children receive nothing.”

Not only does her memorial headstone only address her as “Our Mother”, but her first married name, Renfrow, is included along with her maiden name, Robinson.

Something tells me that Nancy’s children were not cool with Wayne. Wayne remarried three years later in 1983 and appears to have been an active member of the community in Taos.

Long, long shot, but this Doe found in November 1980 in South Texas shares some similarities. Unless there are other witness statements confirming what clothing Nancy was last seen wearing, I don’t know that I completely trust the description that more than likely came from her husband.

Maybe ABQ/SF didn't have flights to where she ultimately wanted to be.
In regards to her husband, there are some interesting comments on this post.

I would think at the very least you could catch a regional flight to Dallas from Albuquerque. But either way, those comments are illuminating, especially the one from her daughter. Good find!
