You just haven't been abused by the right people. I was married to a guy who knocked me around all the time and rarely did he ever leave a bruise. He knew where and how to hit so whatever coloration came up quickly faded. Mostly the only colors that did come up were red. No blues or purples. Not one single broken bone, but I did get my tailbone bruised pretty bad one time. Not a single color on the outside though.tybee204 said:If there were any scarring on Cody the defense would have presented it as evidence. Any past broken bones etc wouldhave been presented. Although Cody claims a life time of blows to the head by his father he suffers no inner ear damage or hairline fractures. Absolutley no cooberating medical evidence to his claims of a life time of brutal abuse.
I totally agree with your summation. You have to get beyond that point to realize that you can face the confrontation, for better or worse, and survive it...or die trying. But Cody didn't have that option. If these people wanted that social security check, they would have hunted him down wherever he went and made it look like HE was the problem. That is really a no win situation.BillyGoatGruff said:Frankly, I don't know why he should have shown the bodies of his tormentors any more respect in death than they showed him in life. Biology aside, they behaved more like concentrastion camp guards than family. And his attempt to "hide" the evidence of his crimes was extremely unsophisicated. It was more like he was hiding their bodies from his having the view them than from being found by anyone else. I think the true breaking point for his was the hard and cold realization that NOTHING he could do would make his father love him and that his family would not be happy until he was either dead or his soul turned into a cold hard lump of burnt charcoal like his father's. I've had to come to that type of realization with a husband, and the hopless and despair that comes with that realization makes you either want to kill yourself or kill them.
When you say Posey, you are talking about Paul, aren't you?Lili said:I saw the clip today of Slim talking about Posey beating the Heifer on the eye with a rock. No BULL!He clearly said Heifer.
The state is in rebuttal right now. The defense will have a rebuttal, too. Not expected to go to jury for a couple of weeks, according to Court TV estimates.amandab said:I used to follow this case on my Sirius radio, but since getting a new vehicle last week (with XM this time), I'm hopelessly lost!! Where does the trial stand; has it gone to the jury yet? Can someone please catch me up?
Thanks!
Yes, sorry, I should have stated...Mr. Slim Britton was speaking of Paul Posey.Goody said:When you say Posey, you are talking about Paul, aren't you?
I wouldn't go that far. I knew who Slim was but almost corrected you on the Posey part because I first thought you meant Cody. But then I had second thoughts on that and decided to just ask instead.Lili said:Yes, sorry, I should have stated...Mr. Slim Britton was speaking of Paul Posey.

I doubt if Cody considered Marilea to be his sister. He may have called her "sister" because he had to, but the more I hear about the dynamics in this family she had already rejected him by constantly telling on him. She knew what the consequence of her actions would be....really bad for Cody, yet she seemed to delight in it. Who knows? Maybe Marilea resented his coming into the family and wanted to get rid of him. I had a stepsister like that. I was already an adult, thank goodness, but it still was no fun. I am still taking the knives out of my back.

By his own admission he executed her because she was a witness to the murders. Said he didn't want to spend his life in prison. Shot her in the face...TWICE after looking in her eyes and after, calmly and with forethought, murdered his father & step mother.mysteriew said:In many families, if all the siblings are being abused....they will hang together in sympathy if not in physical support. But when one kid gets targeted, and the other seems to be given all of the positive love, attention and support- that sibling will be lumped in the same pile with the abusers. And if she took advantage of the situation, by telling on him....I think he saw her as an abuser and tormenter also. She may not have directly abused him, but if she arranged for him to be abused- that is how he would have seen her as one of the abusers. And if she ever seemed to get any enjoyment out of his abuse........
I think the actual shooting of Marilea & his father occured rather rapidly--the moment they entered the door. Whatever was going through his mind at the time was doing it pretty quick. There's no evidence he held them at gun point and made them beg or plead for their lives. The boy's mindset/intent was locked into place by his father & step-mother. And I don't care how many wittnesses get up there and say they didn't see the boy beaten in front of them, there is no way the prosecution can explain away the kiddyLinda7NJ said:By his own admission he executed her because she was a witness to the murders. If he is a psychopath he learned it from his father, IMO. About the shootings, I don't think there was a lot of time for him to think about anything once the first shot was taken. You would have to have some adrenadline running from anger or whatever put you over the edge to take the first shot. Once that happened it was a matter of seconds before the father ran in with the sister right behind him. I don't think anyone would have the time or be able to change their mindset from shooting the father to not shootng the sister in a split second.Linda7NJ said:In my opinion this kid is a cold blooded killer. Honestly, it sickens me that so many are unable to see through his facade. He premeditated the triple murder of his family and carried it out without a problem. He IS a psychopath.
It sound like a lot of the abuse was done in the course of the ranch work. That way if something did happen (black eye, bruises, scratches, burns) it could always be blamed on the work around the ranch. IMO, the emotional abuse was a huge part of it. Making him fill a water trough with a dixie cup, paying the sister to spy on him. No wonder all the pictures of him at events or on vacations showed him smiling; he probably didn't get any of the abuse in public or he was away from his parents.tybee204 said:If there were any scarring on Cody the defense would have presented it as evidence. Although look at the pictures of him smiling with his dad. It's rigid, almost pasted-on. And his body posture is rigid as well, elbows pulled in.
