I wish they had a photo of the note that is referenced. How do they know they’re related, do they mean dying at the same time or related in the familial sense? Maybe because the remains were in the same area?

Could this be a murder-suicide?

It seems both skeletons were intertwined with each other, since looking at both Namus's, they do share some of the same photos of items, as if they don't know who the stuff belonged too. I do think this was a murder suicide, i mean a loaded gun near two bodies?

Article from July 2020

No identification was found in a backpack next to the body, but detectives reported finding “a notebook with suicide notes” inside one of the backpacks at the scene.

“Inside one of the backpacks,” the report continues, another detective “found an old Walmart receipt being dated Aug. 5, 2015.”

“We also located female undergarments and located male clothing on the scene,” the report stated.

Detectives recovered a Smith & Wesson revolver from the scene, but were unable to read the weapon’s serial number due to rust.

From left to right the items look to me like
-A pack of matches
-A women's watch
-A man's watch
-A pocketknife
-Binoculars
-A pill pack
-Glasses+case
-Ballpoint pen (unsure if that's related)

Just above the pills I see something that looks to me like a black lizard earring. Something kind of like this:

Bumping up. Both are still listed in NamUs as unidentified. It's a little surprising that seemingly no one has reported a couple who are missing together, which is my assumption.

Because of the receipt, they must have gone missing between August 5, 2015 and sometime in early 2020.

I guess they must have paid in cash or else the credit/debit card could have probably been traced(?)

I think this case will eventually be solved, either by DNA or by someone reporting them as two people missing together...

Just based on the date and locations near NM, I wonder if she could be one of the following women:

Michelle A., 32-y.o., missing from Texas in October 2015. Few details are available in her case.

Joy S., 45-y.o., missing from Colorado in Oct. 2015. She had reported fraudulent activity on her bank account prior to going missing.

Krislyn G, 35 y.o., missing from Texas in 2016. She went missing along with a male friend, and they are both probable homicide victims. Could this be them? What if the weapon and suicide notes were staged?
Interestingly, the suspect had a receipt from Walmart.

I am going to look further into this last possibilty...

Krislyn’s killer was convicted and stated that he wrapped the body in plastic tarps/shower curtains, so that makes me think it’s not her

The watches seem like the would belong to older adult individuals, who despite the cane would still be active enough for the hike. After hours of searching all male names in the NM missing persons lost, I strongly believe this may be Abraham Jimenez, 74, & Raquel Rodriguez, 53 who went missing from Roswell, NM in 2015. The ages and heights line up, but Abraham was not black.

Hi, I also have a feeling it's not them, though I don't believe what the suspect says, because if he wants to tell the truth, he can tell exactly where his victims are. But I assume they are in Texas, because Texas is vast...

Thank you for looking into the case. I'll try to submit both possibilities and report back.

My mistake.

Here's more on Jiminez and Rodriguez. If the Walmart receipt date is correct, it would have been four months later from when they were first believed to have gone missing.

Their belongings make me think both were older adults or elderly. I see a walking cane in the first image, too. Also the pipe, 1980s binoculars and the style of glasses, yes some young people also wear/use that but it seems our UiD were older. They also seem well to do and not transient or homeless.
Maybe assisted suicide for a sick spouse or murder suicide where both were depressed?
I wish the note was published.
