From today, 6:41 MDT:

In a press conference Monday, the sheriff said one man had been arrested on outstanding warrants and could be a suspect in the girl’s disappearance. However, two days later officials told KOAT that the person arrested was not connected to the case.

At least 100 individuals with various law enforcement agencies joined the small northern New Mexico community in searching for Renezmae.

Sometime before noon Wednesday, her body was found in the river, according to the FBI.
...
Authorities also interviewed between 175 to 200 people, according to Langenberg.

No further information has been released, including whether officials are pursuing potential suspects.

Confusing much??

I'm heartbroken over the loss of yet another beautiful child. May you be in the arms of angels little Renezmae. Rest sweetly and peacefully.

May justice be swift.........and severe!!

My heart hurts so much :( It hurts to look at that sweet face...

The only thing that can help is finding justice for this girl! We need to find who did this :((

At this point, investigators say they have not declared this a homicide. They say pending the resulting of an autopsy, they are considering it a suspicious death.

Officials: Missing Española girl’s body has been found
I don't understand how it would be a simple accidental death. No one called in a missing child report for 9 hours or so?
She has missed a week of school, but she is outside playing? With no supervision?

Did she wander down to the Rio Grande by herself? And no one noticed or was bothered about her being missing all day?

If it was accidental, then at the very least, it was negligence, imo. JMO

I’ve seen a handful of kids drown in pools or rivers due to neglect, lack of supervision and the caregiver charged. Recently too, so it wouldn’t be unheard of at all. I mean that would be better than another Lizzie, Maleah, Skylea.....

Those were my thoughts, too, when I read that Renezmae had not been to school recently :(

I am reminded of Hania Aguilar’s case. Iirc, wasn’t Michael McClellan named a suspect, then not a suspect, then later actually charged?

I anticipate an arrest(s) and charges. I think LE is just gathering their ducks in a row.

So far they haven’t indicated a danger to the community, al though I realize yesterday was a day for mourning Renezmae. The fact that they were searching in the Rio Grande River and located her body indicates to me they had some sort of direction, whether it be a ping, surveillance, etc.

Imo, the chance of her wandering off that distance and jumping in the river is unlikely, especially if she doesn’t have autism.

There is quite a magnificent response from LE. Thank you @PommyMommy for listing all the agencies involved; I would like to also note the list from the first PC.

Renezmae looked like a really happy girl in her photos. I hope nobody had been abusing her up to her death. I hope she didn’t suffer.

I will be very surprised if LE determines this to a stranger abduction.

You could tell the Sheriff was really upset at the Press Conference, as he seemed barely able to speak, imo.

I saw a video a few pages back where the river appears to be quite murky and muddy.

Thanks everyone for your updates, here.

@imstilla.grandma , I’m really sorry for the loss of your daddy. As @Blondie in Spokane said, it’s a really hard loss and our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Hugs.

I think we all know who do it

In the PC, the FBI agent said something along the lines of they are working to “identify” the individual responsible. I’m not sure if he meant to use that word or not (as there was a pause, iirc, need to rewatch), but I imagine his words would be chosen carefully. Just struck me as odd, meaning if they have an idea who did it, he’s already technically been “identified”. Perhaps this is just more noncommittal talk as related to their person in custody, until formal charges can be made post autopsy, etc.

Still no bond, no new charges, still at Rio Arriba county jail. We'll see if they send him to Albq today, or if Rio Arriba lets him sit and stew awhile longer.

Dive crews and an Albuquerque Police boat were seen stalking the edge of the river at the southern part of the town, where they found the girl floating in the water.

FBI Special Agent James Langenberg said authorities searched within half a mile of the homes of Renezmae’s mother and stepfather. About two miles of the river were also searched.

Also from the above link:

“Between 175 to 200 people were also interviewed over the last 72 hours, according to Langenberg.”

You know, I think of all the adorable little ones I have known in person...

Renezmae is so adorable and bright and cute in her pictures....can you imagine how cute and adorable she must’ve been in real life? This one really breaks my heart, as they all do. We will never understand how a little child ends up dead from homicidal violence...and to me it seems like it’s not even that rare...I know we are more aware in here but it seems like every day there is some child abuse or death case...we go the main forum here and the number of all the murder and child abuse threads are just astounding (LE has not indicated any abuse (yet)), but it just blows my mind what a big problem this is in our country. These are not isolated incidents...it’s every day if not week.

Going to stop there because I’m starting to cry. Her pictures...:(

She had a passion for singing and dancing.

Dance with the angels now, Mae Mae.

That’s lovely, pommy.

Since Mae Mae liked to sing and dance, I would also like to dedicate a song as well if I please may; I think she would’ve liked this.

I highly highly recommend this video if you’ve never seen it. Clare is adorable, and reminds me of the young, innocent adorable spirit what I imagine Renezmae would have had.

I’m going to watch it again now and ball. Please take a listen if you can:
