Well, don't feel alone; I share in your confusion. I have no idea what her affiliation with the pueblo may be but I would like to know as well.

I can say that I think VM and MT were living separately. and I base that on the statement made by the Special Agent in Charge that they searched within a 1/2 mile of both homes. That's what I'm going with this five minutes, anyway. MOO

I believe the connection to Santa Clara Pueblo may be through her mother.

Just now learned they recovered her body on Weds. I am happy she was recovered. I hope justice is served up to the person or persons responsible for this little girls death. So very sad...!

I still have such an uneasy feeling about this case.

It's like ALL of the truth is under the surface hidden beneath.

Wouldn't RCs mom call the school to tell them she would be missing school, and why? Did she do this, and I somehow missed it?

There are so many things about her case that causes me to pause convincing me we really dont know, what we don't know.

I pray that all of the truth comes out no matter how brutal that truth may be for any of us to absorb.

MaeMae must be given a voice, and that can only happen if all the truth becomes known for all to know what really happened to her, and what she had to endure.

Maybe she worked there? At one of the casinos, perhaps? Would probably need the feds to question co-workers/supervisors/view video footage, etc on pueblo lands.

"Maestas’s Aug. 7 filing in state District Court doesn’t make clear what custody arrangement, if any, existed between her and Torres at the time.

Maestas asked in the filing, “To let me see my children until something is decided. I would like to have them 50% of the time or can have full custody until then.”

Court records show that there was supposed to be a Family Court Services hearing on the matter Wednesday, the day Renezmae’s body was found in the Rio Grande.

The petition says that Torres has acknowledged parentage of both children with the state Department of Vital Statistics, although police have said that Renezmae’s biological father lives in southern New Mexico.

According to a criminal complaint, Torres, who was reportedly drunk, told the officer, “They are not taking my son from me.”

On Thursday, spokesman Sean Sullivan of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Albuquerque said the FBI has taken over the investigation because whatever took place with Renezmae possibly happened on Santa Clara Pueblo, which abuts Española. The FBI has jurisdiction on Indian land. Sullivan also confirmed reports that Renezmae’s remains were found in the Rio Grande.

Wow - what a terrible mess. I cannot believe he switched schools on little Renezmae - this poor Mom must have felt helpless IMO. I'm fearing this is going to turn out to be a punishment against the mother. JMO

"Maestas said in her Aug. 8 petition she had taken Renezmae to counseling after the Halloween incident, and the couple separated in June. She alleged Torres had been using the children as leverage to manipulate her.

“He pressured me into sex in order to see the kids so I haven’t seen my kids in a week because he wants sex,” she wrote. “He has thrown things at me, thrown me. He’s done it all in front of our children.”

She also said Torres “switched my daughter’s school without my permission.”

Maestas filed the petition in August, alleging Torres regularly hit her, threatened her and called her names in front of her children during the course of their four-year relationship.

“He has held a knife to my throat and hit me,” Maestas wrote in the petition, filed Aug. 8. “On Halloween he hit me … and they arrested him. He said if I ever took his son he’d kill me. I’ve been to work with black eyes.”
