GUILTY NM - Renezmae Calzada, 5, found deceased, Rio Arriba County, 8 Sept 2019 *Arrest*

She had attended prekindergarten at the Santa Clara Pueblo’s Head Start program.
Few answers in Española girl’s death

According to this article - Missing Española Girl Found Dead, she was in kindergarten at Fairview Elementary and had been absent from school the week before she disappeared.

According to this article - Few answers in Española girl’s death she had been enrolled in kindergarten at Eutimio “Tim” Salazar III Elementary School in Española since the start of the school year.

I wonder if this discrepancy in schools has anything to do with her mother's contention she was placed in another school without her knowledge?

Thank you !
That was my understanding.
"Fairview [Eutimio “Tim” Salazar III Elementary School] Principal Wilmer Chavarria said Tuesday that Calzada had been a kindergarten student and her last day at school was Aug. 29. He said the girl’s teacher had called to speak with her mother, Maestas, on Sept. 5, after the child missed more than three days of school."
She missed Fri 08/30; Monday was labor day (no school); she missed Tues 09/03, Wed 09/04 & Thurs 09/05 before teacher called mom. Then she missed Fri 09/06 (total 5 days) and went missing on Sun 09/08.

I was wondering if that's why she missed so much school. Maybe one parent wasn't okay with the switching schools and it was their week and s/he refused to take her? IDK Just a thought.

I am wondering whose week it was to have her, when she missed that 4 days of school.

The teacher called the mom, so was she with Mom that week?

And building off of that, if I may?

Mom left for work at (9am/9:30am/9:45am) and yes, one of those needs confirmation.

She was leaving this little princess in the care of ....... who? This really needs confirmation.

Or have we been able to lock down that 9:30am time, as the last anyone saw of this little angel?

And that the estranged boyfriend was taking care of Mae-Mae that day?

Could this baby have wandered away? Or been lured away? Would anyone have noticed?

New Mexico has a huge problem with child abuse and deaths of children! I live in El Paso, TX and nearly every week, there is a story coming out of New Mexico about parents being arrested for child abuse.

I just had a thought that may be way off base but would make sense possibly.

The mother said he changed the girl's school without her consent. When we heard she had not been in the one school, he may have been taking her to the other school but never informed the first school?

It would all fit with the mother's remark, the different schools named, etc.

And we know we nor the media get all of the facts, it is generally these bits and pieces to put together...

Just a thought...

I don't know why but I would feel much better if she was in school... I guess because at least we would not have to wonder as much about the timeline, etc...

Jmo.

I wonder too.

A little more than a week after the filing, on Aug. 16, District Judge Sylvia LaMar signed a stipulated order of protection granting the restraining order. The couple agreed to share custody, with each of them being responsible for the children a week at a time. They were to exchange custody of the children each Friday at a school day care facility.
Who was supposed to have custody on September 6th? Or August 30th? Did that hand off happen? If so, did it happen at the place it was supposed to?

When students are absent, funding is reduced, increasing the possibility of the loss of the program. Parents are responsible for contacting the Learning Center Coordinator, Mr. Allison, if their child will be absent 505-753-2391 or [email protected]. If a child has a prior commitment, written notice containing the parent/guardian’s signature, and stating the reason for the weekly/monthly absence must be provided to the Learning Center Coordinator. This notice will become part of the student’s 21st CCLC file. Because we may have a waiting list for available seats, frequent absences may result in your child’s removal from the program.

Interesting. I wonder when the last time Renezesme was seen by any other verifiable source aside from family? What day did she actually go missing?

That's a bit of an exaggeration, but - yes - we do have a serious problem but we are getting back on the right track with our new governor after 8 years of cuts from the previous governor to programs that involve/have an influence on children.

I used to teach in New Mexico, not the area this occured in.

From my experience a teacher would have information about custody only to the extent of which parent should be notified (usually custodial parent) or if one parent should *not* be given information/access.

It would be unusual for a teacher to know the ins and outs of the arrangement unless they knew the family well or there had been issues already. (Ie. Family wanted the school to have detailed information about visitation/custody).

I said it a while back in this conversation and I am going to say it again...

I find it highly suspicious that she was absent for 3 days, reportedly a parent volunteer from the school noticed and was planning contacting the police. Also, the school was calling the parents about it. They had to know these people were growing worried about her being absent. Isn't it convenient that once they knew they would soon need to explain the absences she is suddenly "abducted" and the family, not one of them, is willing to talk to the media when they believed their child was missing? I'm sorry but all parents who have kids abducted talk to the media to beg amd plead for a safe return. They didn't, not once. None of them have still. Is it possible this child was absent for those 3 days because she had been hurt days before they reported her missing? I'm not sure by who, how, or when, but the absences are suspicious. I am not sure who she was suppose to be with during the absences, but you would think if they were calling the mom she would answer at some point, or call the school back, then call the stepdad and ask why she wasn't in school. You'd think if she was with the mom the dad would be asking why she wasn't in school. Instead no one talked to the school and there are no reports of the mom or dad wondering why she wasn't in school and I the school is the one who told the public not either parent. As a mom, I'd be telling everyone who would listen that this guy didn't send my kid to school for days and now she's missing! Same, if I were the dad and the mom had her at that time. I wouldn't remain silent... Perhaps someone would stay silent only if they were involved somehow, also. It is all just really strange and convoluted. No ome stays silent when they believe a stranger took their child, though. Hell, I wouldn't stay quite if I thought the other parent of my kid hurt my kid either, though. So it just makes no sense to me as a parent. I also think the LE there is backwards as hell. They have to know something by this point and if they don't they surely should. They should atleast say if he is or is not a suspect for certain. Thay leaves a whole state thinking a predator could still be roaming about. Instead they are not corresponding with the media or the public hardly at all, which is just odd to me. Tell the people something! We are all deserve to know what happened to this precious little girl and whether or not the person responsible is in jail or still out there! It is becoming frustrating. Of course... This is all my opinion, but a strong one.

AFAIK, the family is not undocumented, certainly we know Mom is a member of Santa Clara Pueblo, which is a Native American Tribe, as was Renezmae.

Law enforcement officials continue to say they don’t have a suspect in the case, although Torres remains incarcerated in the Rio Arriba County jail in Tierra Amarilla.

The petition says that Torres has acknowledged parentage of both children with the state Department of Vital Statistics, although police have said that Renezmae’s biological father lives in southern New Mexico.

According to a criminal complaint, Torres, who was reportedly drunk, told the officer, “They are not taking my son from me.” [My note: Who are “They?”]

The Rio Grande Sun, Española’s weekly newspaper, has reported that kindergartner Renezmae had not been at school for about a week before she vanished.

On Thursday, spokesman Sean Sullivan of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Albuquerque said the FBI has taken over the investigation because whatever took place with Renezmae possibly happened on Santa Clara Pueblo, which abuts Española. The FBI has jurisdiction on Indian land. Sullivan also confirmed reports that Renezmae’s remains were found in the Rio Grande.
Renezmae's mom sought to see children

Thank you. You are so right. My sister is a retired elementary school teacher. I used to be a substitute elementary teacher for our district for several years. If a teacher becomes familiar with students custody info; it’s usually due to previous or pending problematic concerns. moo.

Very sad to see no real new information about who had her that week has been released? and no confirmed sighting of her either? What was going on in these two houses? JMO

Torres took off with his son following the domestic violence incident. He did not take Renezmae. He was arrested although the charges were later dropped. According to statements, they were suppose to share in the custody of the children. She was being coerced into sex in order to see her children. She filed a petition for child support for the two children. There was obviously a lot of very bad things going on here. IMO, he had no intention of every paying child support for a child who was not his. I may be surprised here but I think this act was in retaliation.
