NM - Sarah Dubois-Gilbeau, 5, beaten to death by dad for not doing homework, Albuquerque, 5 Apr 2019

One of the saddest parts of this whole tragedy is that this monster got custody because mom smoked weed. I am so sad that the mom lost custody.

And being new to this amazing site, what does MOO mean?
MOO = My Own Opinion. Used to differentiate opinion from fact.

thank you.

though I don't use weed, I don't believe its all that bad to do it if you are away from people that don't agree with it. I hope the mom never used around the daughter, however it would be a positive alternative to the violent mutt that killed that little girl!

Water -- or swim shoes, are somewhat pliant and rubber or plastic-soled.
Doubtful there'd be blood on the floor and walls from such a beating. :(
She must have screamed and been so terrified.

I think he used a belt or a bat.
Won't call him an animal as that's an insult to our cat.

Monster. Ugly and demonic.

Rest in gentle peace, Sarah !

I think your right. However a bat would have caused much more damage. The belt theory works or something close. sad excuse for a father anyway. This guy committed the most grotesque act short of rape and murder. To do this to a kid is beyond me. Im leaning towards bitter man upset at his failed life and lashed out. Maybe a drunk? Pissed at life. No excuse to hurt a kid..

ITA. Giving homework to an autistic 5-year-old seems to have turned into a recipe for horrific disaster.

Giving custody of that little girl to her ignorant, monstrous father was a recipe for horrific disaster! No remotely normal person, let alone the parent, does what he did under any circumstances. I would like to know the backstory leading up to the custody decision. MOO.

So, does that mean if her teacher hadn’t given her homework, she’d still be alive and everything would be okay?

Isn’t that blaming the teacher for this evil man’s violence?

just silly. teachers are crapped on to no extent. Parents drop them off and pick them up and then complain about the homework. Home school your kids if you don't like the system.. This murdering 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 mutt killed his own daughter. School had nothing to do with it.

exactly. seems strange the mom would be so innocent. strange a kid would be given to a violent guy. That mom is not the innocent pot smoker she seems to be I think.

Until the mom is charged with something, I see her as a victim who has lost a child. This child lost her life to a person who was supposed to keep her safe.

Didn’t do homework, spilled drink, colored on picture, wet pants, cried - excuses 🤬🤬🤬 parent/boyfriend/girlfriend give to justify beating an innocent child to death.

I think My Opinion Only. This case is wrong on so many levels. Being in denial about an autistic child he should have never gotten custody of her. I hope, and pray justice is swift but long in punishment.

Disgusting. He had to have beaten her savagely for an extended period in order to kill her with a water shoe. There was no blackout, IMO. He tortured her to death.

Hope he enjoys life in prison now. Was it worth it, monster? To take this precious child from her mother? And then murder her?
I feel so very defeated reading yet another case where a child dies by the hands of the one who should be her protector, and best ally and advocate.

My heart is breaking for all of these tortured and murdered children, and for all those children who live in similar circumstances. May a savior come their way before it is too late.
Do we really care about our children? Why does this happen all the time?

The neighbors heard him? One recorded it on her cell phone? I doubt the dad will be the only one haunted. :(

How often did he beat this poor child?
In other words, what was his previous excuse? I can’t believe he exploded to the nth degree his first time.

Seriously. A little autistic kid? How does a person beat a kid with a shoe that bad? Come on Karma!

God there's another thread where step dad to be beat a little, precious four year old with Down syndrome to death for "interrupting" him.

I mean beating a child - any child - to death is bad enough but my God. Special needs children are our angels on earth.

I'm devastated.

It's ridiculous. Yet dad can drink a six pack of beer i'm sure and no problem.

You know what I've never heard of? Someone smoking a joint and beating someone to death. Or beating someone at all. It makes people feel the opposite.

Alcohol is a different story but that's legal.

Anyhow, we don't probably know he whole story. There may have been other reasons. I don't know. But this beautiful little girl was failed terribly.
