NM - Sarah Dubois-Gilbeau, 5, beaten to death by dad for not doing homework, Albuquerque, 5 Apr 2019

Police say the bruising on the child’s body stretched from her neck to her buttocks, much of which was consistent with “the tread of a shoe.”
Doesn’t seem like she was hit with a shoe. This seems more like a stomping. She’s laying there on the floor helpless and he just keeps jumping on her.

Poor little girl.

Father arrested for allegedly beating five-year-old daughter to death for refusing to do homework | Daily Mail Online

Brandon Reynolds, 36, of Albuquerque was charged Friday with intentional abuse resulting in the death of a child under the age of 13, according to the police.

Police say he'd become furious when his daughter, Sarah Dubois-Gilbeau, refused to do her homework on Thursday around 8pm. He told officers he was so angry that he 'blacked out' when spanking her with a shoe, ABC News reported.

He then called 911 at 1am Friday morning claiming that his daughter was in cardiac arrest, said Police Chief Michael Geier in a press conference.

'Her dad refused to accept she was autistic. Her father killed her because he could not deal with her autism,' wrote the girl's mother, Chantel Dubois. She lost custody of her daughter to Brandon Reynolds after he accused her of marijuana use.

'As sweet as my daughter was, as all children they have resistance it seems that is something her father was not able to deal with.'

'She didn't deserve this,' said a sobbing neighbor and former babysitter to KOAT Action News. 'She was so cute. She was a little angel.'

Reynolds allegedly told police he struck his daughter with a water shoe, a type of footwear used during activities like kayaking, all over her body until she stopped moving, according to the Albuquerque Journal.

Reynolds then allegedly applied ice to her back, and left her in bed for hours until her heartbeat grew faint prompting him to call 911.

Reynolds is currently being held in Bernalillo County's Metropolitan Detention Center.

Blacked out? Nonsense! More like a fit of rage.

Hopefully the mother can raise enough money to get from CA to NM and bury her daughter, looks like people are contributing.

Prosecutor Haley Murphy said Reynolds told authorities he was frustrated with his child because she did not want to do her schoolwork. He spanked her and then “blacked out.”

“And by the end, she was numb to it,” Murphy said. “He cradled her because he realized how long the beating had been.”

Father accused in daughter's death will stay in jail

Pathetic

JMO, at 8:00 pm, this child was too tired to concentrate on homework.

Children are just like us, some days are just bad days! A parent needs to know their child well enough to “read” the child as to how they are feeling, good day or bad day at school.

Depending on the level of autism, she may have been more difficult to “read”. Since she did have homework, it would seem her autism wasn’t too bad. However, most 5 year olds are exhausted after a day at school and are ready for bed at 8:00, not ready to put their thinking cap on to do homework.

  1. The father was the teacher. The little girl was home schooled.

Police say Reynolds, 36, beat his daughter to death because she refused to finish the homework he had assigned her.

I just came upon this thread. After reading the first page I don't think I can stomach reading anymore. This is sickening and disgusting. I hope he rots in prison. No excuse for his actions. My prayers are with this sweet child and her family.

Thank you! All my children as kindergartners were in bed by 7-8 pm.
