This is one baffling case so far. Looking at his and his gf's FB, and his large family---I don't see a lot of red flags. Working class, salt of the Earth family it seems...pictures of him with family at large gatherings...What happened?

[ just read the link from Heavy, above---answered a few questions about red flags]

Hope this is allowed:

Nathaniel Jouett Snapchats Ominous Photos Before Shooting http://heavy.com/news/2017/08/natha...s-library-instagram-facebook-snapchat-photos/

"The above photo was posted on Snapchat by Nathaniel Jouett, believed to be the suspect in the Clovis-Carver Library shooting. Jouett, 16, posted the ominous picture, which showed him in what appears to be a public restroom, at 4:10 p.m. The photo seems to focus on Jouett’s black backpack, the contents of which are unknown. It is also unknown if Jouett used the “time” filter to signify anything in particular.

According to the Associated Press, two people were killed and four others were injured when a gunman opened fire at the library just after 4 p.m. on Monday. An individual, believed to be Jouett, was taken into custody by Clovis police shortly after the shooting was first reported."

Will he be tried as an adult?

This is so sad...for the victims and their loved ones, for the suspect's family...and I keep thinking of his girlfriend, so in love with him. Her world is shattered tonight. And her boyfriend's life is no doubt ruined...for what?

This is also scary..that you could be quietly enjoying your public library...of all places...and get shot. I'm going to google what to do in an active shooter situation. But then there are vehicles used as weapons. I feel like staying home! People are crazy!

I wonder if the was an extreme gamer. Nothing wrong with gamers, but I do think that adolescent boys can be influenced by the violence in them..

Okay, first thought upon seeing this picture:

Was this show:

Probably means absolutely nothing and is just a coincidence.
However, my DH was a "24" nut so it jumped out at me!
Lots of people kind of idolize Jack Bauer's character... so anything is possible I guess?

Old facebook ending in 2013... likes and pictures are a bit mature for a 12/13 year old.
Though I do not see the show "24" as a like on there.
Others like Walking Dead and Grand Theft Auto are there. (Yes to gamer apparently.)

What is wrong with these young men? And the supposedly adult men who do stuff like this and worse? There is something going on with some males, not all of them young. Senseless violence.

And a public library seems like such a strange place for a 16 yr old to go on a rampage. Why the library?

I can understand the high school or a school football game or a mall---but the library?

I was wondering the same thing. So few people go to libraries anymore. Especially considering that he'd gone back to school about two weeks ago, so it's not like he wouldn't have access to a larger audience.

My suspicion is lack of security. Malls, large events, and even high school football games now have a noticeable police presence. But our library does not.

I understand that males are the primary shooters, but the first school shooting I heard of was Brenda Spencer in San Diego. Said she did it because she didn't like Mondays. Someone made a song out of it, but I've only heard the cover by Tori Amos.

I am SO SICK of these (mostly) male monsters who act out their own pain, anger, insecurities, rage, whatever, on defenseless victims. I feel for people, especially young people, who struggle with bullying or other problems, but once you attack unsuspecting innocent people who can't defend themselves, you've shown yourself to be nothing but a vile monster. NO SYMPATHY. I hope they try him as an adult and he can think about what he did for the rest of his life. He's ruined the lives of many families. Sorry. I'm seething right now, I'm so angry.

CLOVIS — The teenage boy accused in the deadly shooting at Clovis' public library had been in trouble at school, had recently contemplated suicide and had "anxiety attacks" that resulted in his going home from church on Sunday morning, his pastors said.
...
Pastors at Clovis' Living Word Church of God said the shooting stunned them because they thought Jouett was making positive strides in recent weeks, following what both described as a "very hard life."
...

Stevens said his daughter soon learned Jouett was "laying with a gun at his side and a suicide note in his pocket" as they talked on the phone.
...

"I know last week ... he was jumped in a bathroom. And then he got into a fight on Friday and was suspended for two days," Hutson said.

Stevens said Jouett was upset about the fight.
...

Stevens said Jouett lived with his father and was estranged from his mother.

OT - the song was written by Bob Geldof and made a hit by Boomtown rats, in which BG was a member.
