Does anyone have access to Saltenposten?

They reported an hour ago in the headline that the police continues the search for Arjen Kamphuis.

Fortsetter etterforskningen - setter ikke gang søk

The police continues the investigation in the missing case, where Arjen Kamphuis from the Netherlands is missing.

The picture of the vessel of the Coast Guard was taken last week, not today.

Well, I would certainly like to know if that is true, or if they only mean that they'll be doing desk work.

Nope, Saltenposten states that the police do NOT search anymore, although they will consider it from day to day. And they will not give any daily updates if nothing important happens either. But they will still investigate, so desk work from now on...

I feared as much ...

He was certainly not afraid of water is my guess, maybe he should have stuck to ocean racing... ;-)

I do think it is a difficult area to search for people in the fjord. Two of the 16 persons missing in this area is missing from this fjord and is not found although it is 3-4 years since they went missing...

Chasing leads that what not made public?
Is there any information about Denmark?
There was a post about, several pages back that later in september the investigation would shift to Denmark...

Shortly said; No. Throughout the process, only one article has been brought in Denmark, five days ago, a standard article that we have now seen hundreds of, only "new" information: "We are going to Denmark later in September, where we have got a tip. We are working with the Danish police on this, but it is completely impossible to say anything about the safety of these tips, says Walla." WikiLeaks hacker disappeared: The theories of the police pull threads to Denmark

I myself have tried to get the local media in the affected area to bring an article, but no one has answered, except one that replied after several weeks. If I could obtain any witness they wanted to bring the story, it was the same day as Ancilla stated that she did not want to participate in the media more before there are developments in the case. So I suggested them to contact the police, but I think the reason for the lack of interest is that he is not officially missing in Denmark and the police/DK only cooperate with other countries.

Should you pursue the "Beautrophy" track, which allows Denmark's observations ("official") on time with the dates. (It fits almost date wise in Ancilla's "Ribe" tweet). The trail gets cold on September 11, when the ship leaves Bremerhaven, if he continues the voyage.

Ok thanks @Stizzi
Sometimes deskwork is not that bad and I guess that means they still following leads.Fieldwork seems to be a lower priority...at least that is what we conclude from the media
I do think that behind the screens, friends of AK are involved to get/ working,to find answers.

Thank you for welcoming :)

Media have written a Dutch SIM card was removed and a German SIM card was placed. The police know this on the basis of the IMEI number. In this link Fant savnede Arjens kajakk - venner stiller spørsmål ved mystisk telefonbruk his friends questions the police-information about the switching of the SIM-cards, as AK had a smart-phone with dual slots. It could mean it was not his phone beeing used (only his SIM cards) or it might be misunderstandings from journalists as some do not know how much the accuracy in such information means.
and the fact police obviously holds back information, its never been considereded as a "probably tourist" accident only

I dont think the police have hold back much information, in my opinion they have been much less tight-lipped than they usually is...
The police have used much more resources in this case than in a lot of other missing cases here BUT nothing has to do with his background according to Tarjei Abelsen in Saltenposten today.

It is a very interesting article, unfortunaly it is behind a wall, and I dont have time to translate it.... Abelsen states that the police says that it is two different phones who have pinged in Fauske and in Vikeså - they still means he had two phones with him. And that is information the police have got from his friends.

Tarjei Abelsen is journalist in one of the largest tabloid newspapers in Norway - VG - and Oslo-based. @ZaZara has mentioned his Twitter account here earlier.

@ZaZara - They have not used the cadaverdogs and I dont think they will - the police have used the cadaverdogs in another missing case a bit further north in july and they had quite precis place in the sea he went missing according to his friends (but that is a criminal case I think, the police dont think it was an accident) - nothing found.. I guess the dogs have to be in carateen after they have been in Noway so f they ever will do that again it will take months before next time...

The current in the fjord is from what I am told not much in the lower area of the fjord, but a little in the upper layer so it is not very much current there.

Norwegian police about Arjen Kamphuis: We are preparing for the worst

The Norwegian investigation into the missing cybersecurity expert Arjan Kamphuis seems to have reached an impasse. "We are waiting for the golden tip that leads to a breakthrough," says assistant commissioner Bjarte Walla.

On Monday evening the police will again call on witnesses in the Norwegian version of the TV program Opsporing Verzocht. The more than 100 tips that have been received so far have not provided evidence that Kamphuis is still alive. ,, The last time he was seen with certainty was on August 20 when he checked out at his hotel in Bodø '', says Walla. ,, We ask people who have seen him afterwards to sign up. We still hope for the best, but in the meantime we are preparing for the worst. ''

Last week we searched with sniffer dogs in the area where his kayak and personal items were found. The Norwegian Coast Guard searched on and along the water of the Saltdal Fjord. That search has now been discontinued.

Takes a long time
More than ten different witnesses reported that they had seen Kamphuis after his disappearance in the vicinity of Vikeså, 1600 kilometers south of Bodø. A signal from his telephone was also picked up on 30 August. However, the police still can not state with certainty whether Kamphuis has been there. ,, We are still investigating these tips '', Walla says on the phone from Bodø. Why that takes so long? ,, I can not comment on that. I can only say that we are researching a lot of tips at the same time. That takes time. "

Kamphuis's family and friends complain that physical searches have stopped. ,, We have to keep in mind that he is no longer found '', says their spokeswoman Ancilla van de Leest. ,, That is very painful. In addition, we have the nagging feeling that the police are not on top of the case. For example, the train conductor, whom he probably took on the day of his disappearance, was only interrogated after 3.5 weeks, and after a tip from a journalist. "

Hi Lorrie, dogs from Sweden can travel to Norway without any requirements, and dogs from EU-countries need to have their passport and regular vaccinations. There won't be any problems with quarantaine.

I do hope you find the time to translate the article. IMHO it is worth waiting for! because it will be interesting. TA was also involved in the making of that small video on Dutch tv and it had a lot of factual information, many interesting details. The fisherman who found the wallet, the tiny beach where the kayak was found and so on. I am hoping for the same quality!

I was looking again at the DP missings report of AK where there is mention of this:
"So there is now also a study in Denmark via the Sirene bureau"
So looked it up " office ("Supplementary Information Request at the National Entry") responsible for the data management of the National Schengen Information System, and which is part of the National International Legal Assistance Center"
Thesaurus
National Schengen Information System
electronic detection system that functions in the police cooperation between the countries that are members of the Schengen Agreement; each of these countries manages a National Schengen Information System, which exchanges information about wanted persons and stolen or missing items

Used for:
NSIS
SIS

@ZaZara - I will see if I have the time tomorrow... Thanks, dont know much about dogs... The other and maybe bigger problem is the weather - the autumn and winter is very rough and windy here. The second of the autumn storm is on the way now much earlier than normal so I would think that the swedish dog owners would not risk the dog drowning...

5 years ago I visited Bodo again, had not been there in 25 years because my relatives had moved out since. First thing I noticed after 25 years were large groups of gypsies behind the shopping centre around a camp-fire, Also I stayed a couple of days in a hut on a hytte feld about half an hour drive from Bodo, must have been direction east. I the late evening we got a visitor at the door who claimed to be "collecting money for poor students"in the middle of nowhere. It was obviously a guy from eastern Europe, on a bicycle. This was in a remote and deserted area. Sort of freaked me out.
My question is:, suppose the phone was stolen by a thieve, does it mean it had to be unlocked for making connection to a base station?. As far as I know even if the phone is switched off it maken contact with the net, right? (they use the word "ping"I am not sure what that means.

I am really sorry you had so lousy stay in Bodø.. We had problems with romani peoples about that time but not much today, the few ones left are selling newspapers or begging. They are known for the police and other helping organisations so they are not really a problem anymore. And a couple of years ago it was foreigners who sold books or paintings to support students - but they got permission from the police or so I think... They where interviewed in the local newspaper.

Bodø is really a small town wanting to be with the big boys - nothing really happens here unnoticed - and if you dont want to get on the front page in the local newpaper dont urinate during the night on a shop or drive without a license or drunk driving. Let alone kidnaping or robbery... The criminality is much less today than it was some years ago...

And why on earth would you rob a person and travel down south in Norway to get rid of the phone - when you can travel one and a half hour from where his belongings was found and be in Northern Sweden?

That is a confusing picture. Are you sure it is the same location? Or maybe near it? IMHO that is possibly a similar beach but not the same one. The angle of the roof of the big house is different. The steep edge is also missing.

Does look like a good place where something might wash up though.

I think you're right. It's probably another tiny beach nearby.

I have some catching up to do, but first I like to place these images. Notice the waterline (different tides) in the same spot:
