Norway Norway - Oslo - WhtFem 20-30 - Fake Name - Shot in Hotel Room - Jun'95 #2

When Jennifer ordered room service, she was wearing clothing on her bottom half that were not present at the time of her being found deceased by the hotel staff.

However the door card data shows that Jennifer’s door was not re-opened using the door card after the time of the meal being delivered.

How did her lower garment leave the room?

Did she leave the door open or ajar whilst she left the room to dispose of the garment? If so, she would have been quite noticeable as she would have to have been wearing the lower garment she was wearing at the time of death, since this was the only lower body garment she still had at the time of her being found deceased.

Another option is that she opened the door to a person who took the garment away?

Either way, something just doesn’t smell quite right about it all.

Not only that, nobody who is going to commit suicide fires a "test shot". If there was a bullet hole through the pillow, it was because the murderer used the pillow to muffle the sound of the shot.
Two problems with your statement. Anecdotally I've read that test shots do indeed happen however a quick Google search and I could not find any data to support how often it happens. And, IIRC they found both the expired rounds in this case meaning there was a separate round fired that did not penetrate her head.

It's such a shame that DNA matching is not yet possible in Europe, but it seems word of mouth pays off. The Interpol appeal worked for this case:
UK woman Rita Roberts identified 31 years after Belgium murder

Apart from the references to Belgium, we really don't know where "Jennifer Fairgate" really came from and if her family & friends will ever come across this case. The Netflix documentary publicity surely helps but not everyone watches crime documentaries like us. I wonder why JF is not on the Interpol's appeal list. I hope more publicity is given and eventually, someone might provide more answers.

Does anyone think that this person has a resemblance to Jennifer Fergate?

She is a missing person and I will post the details later. Just wondered if people thought there was any resemblance first of all.

She has a very superficial resemblance: short hair (albeit a different colour), narrow face. The eyebrows and eyes don't resemble her at all, imo.

Yes, I feel unsure as its easy to be influenced by the similar face shape and hair style.

Another thing I feel unsure about is how much we should expect the gun shot to her head to have changed her appearance?
We know the pm pictures have been doctored to hide the entrance wound on her forehead between her eyes. I don't believe any other facial features were altered since the object of releasing the images was to identify her.

Yes, but a gunshot to the head can cause a change to the person’s appearance

As GatorFL has said - there would likely have been not much change in facial appearance although maybe some bruising, blacking of the eyes and suchlike. That would have been retouched in the photo or covered with makeup I'd imagine, though.

I think that the mystery of who she was is likely easily solved by putting her DNA into the various word-wide databases. Norwegian law prevents that, though, as far as I'm aware.

Hello everyone, I just joined! You are all so amazing! I've been reading the two Jennifer Fairgate threads that I hope will continue, and it's so wonderful to see how many people can come together and brainstorm each other, coming up with so many great insights. I'm convinced that modern websleuthing is going to contribute to the solution of many of these cold cases. I call it stranger kindness crowdsourcing.

I was wondering if anyone has any idea when "Jennifer" made those two calls to Belgium to those two numbers that didn't exist. I haven't been able to find this information anywhere.

Sure, on the exit end of things. She shot herself in the forehead so there would have been a 9mm entrance wound and some stippling. The back of her head was likely not intact.

Yeah, I think you are right. Didn't the bullet exist and hit the concrete floor under the bed?

Yep, I think they found it in close proximity to the other round.
IIRC they found 2 spent cartriges and a bullet hole and residue in a pillow(practice shot or final shot) the whole norweigan law on DNA not being allowed is so annoying, surely in cases like these they could jigger the law to make an exeption..... unless of course they dont want her identity known

It's not just the Norwegian law. Privacy laws cover the whole Europe and these International DNA databases are privately held so sharing sensitive information with third parties is against European law. I wish it could be different and an exception could be made when we are talking about deceased persons and victims of crimes but until the law changes there's nothing they can do.
