According to Eric Paddock, his brother Stephen was a multimillionaire, who made much of his money investing in real estate, and a big spender, often receiving free rooms and meals from the casinos he frequented.

He described the wealth of his multimillionaire brother as substantial, that it included real estate and that he managed property for relatives.

We have to watch out with labels like terrorism. For me it will depend on what sparked the incident. In todays world you have people that would charge protesters with terrorism if they could and you have far reaching legislation like the Patriot Act that can come into play. It turns into really dangerous waters really quickly.

I am always so astonished how in certain cases people are so quick to claim someone just HAS to be mentally ill? It's become way too common in "certain" cases and I'm honestly sick of it! He is a terrorist! Like any and all who came before him! There are no excuses and it is what he is! And like most of them... he was a coward and killed himself! It really is that simple.

My sister and brother-in-law were there and they will never be the same. Last night while frantically trying to get a hold of them, I had their children! I tried with everything I had in my body to remain calm for them. It was their first time being away as a married couple (even though it was for work) in 23 years! Today they are standing in line to donate blood (especially since my sister is 0 negative).

I really wish people would stop making excuses for these monsters. That is what they are. Monsters.
Bravo! I couldn't agree more!

Unless he blew his brains out. Yecch.
Yes, horrible thought I know. The tumor would likely be located/identifiable at the scene.

You must look at the whole picture- Here is a man that, by all accounts lived a productive, law abiding life. Something
happened for him to commit such a heinous crime. Otherwise we need to ask- how was he able to live under the radar all these years? I will be very interested in knowing if they study his brain for pathology.

So, I have a question??? How does this guy go undetected with those weapons in his hotel room? Did the cleaning crew notice anything? Would they not report " Hey this guy has 10 weapons in his room?"

Something doesn't sit well here with me, and I can't put my finger on it.

It seems the shooter was staying in a multi-room suite that probably had several closets, chests of drawers, etc. for storage. Weapons/ammo also could have been kept in multiple pieces of luggage until they were used. Housekeeping doesn't necessarily service all rooms daily, especially if guest has asked not to be disturbed. It's becoming less common for daily maid service, especially for guests who stay in the venue for several days or longer. Sheets are not changed daily, maids leave extra towels, etc.

Just wanted to say thanks for the thoughts and prayers. Our friend is in ICU she was shot in the head and they are unsure if she will pull through.

I am so sorry.

Gunman Stephen Paddock was an accountant who played $100-a-hand poker
Stephen Paddock's father was a bank robber

By RALPH ELLIS AND DOUG CRISS , CNN

(CNN) - The man police say killed at least 58 people on the Las Vegas Strip was a retired accountant who enjoyed playing $100-a-hand poker, his brother says.

Here's what else we know about Stephen Paddock, the assailant in the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history...

Remember, at that point of his life his brother wasn't seeing him regularly. People will tend to act normally around family members, it doesn't mean they don't have some radical agenda. I don't see any reason for the brother to hide anything at this point. He was open about his father's past.

Agreed, but his brother may be "minimizing" his brother's odd behavior quirks. Brother first implied "no guns", then "he had a gun or two" and then added "Well, he might have had a long gun(rifle?), too." Then still later, it was reported Stephen Paddock/the shooter actually took Eric's children shooting!!! (A trip he claims was paid for by the casinos....) ????
"He knew his brother owned a couple of handguns but was shocked at the rapid-fire weapon apparently used by Stephen Paddock in Las Vegas. He said his brother didn’t hunt, barely shot his guns and once took Eric Paddock’s children on a skeet-shooting trip paid for by the casinos."

What casino?
How long ago?
What do his gambling logs show? (Win/loss reports)

Personally I think he was a little man, a bean counter, who didn't have much luck with women.....and a gun made him feel superior.
btw...I am a female bean counter.....common term used in my office, ok.

Wonder if he had a medical condition and knew he wouldn't pass? Did he still own a plane?

When I stayed in Vegas last week I too stayed in a multi room suite which included a living area in one section and a bedroom area in another section each individual section looked out to different parts of Las Vegas. They are now offering at my preferred casino and likely all others a go green Las Vegas credit of $20 per day to your room total. What this means is that you do not elect to have maid service. When you want clean towels you simply called housekeeping and they deliver Them to your door. This allows for complete privacy. I'm fairly certain that's what this guy elected to do

I woke up, turned on the news while I start the coffee maker and see these headlines. Shock and horror immediately takes over. I've been totally unable to tear myself away from the news today. So tragic.
Just a comment because this is what I'm feeling right now; I refuse to believe that no one had any clue that this guy was planning this mass murder. This heinous act was premeditated and carefully planned out. Multiple rifles, massive ammunition was brought into a hotel. Very, very heavy weight. He was there for days. Again, I absolutely refuse to believe no one knew about this. That's all I'm saying right now.

Just jumping in randomly

I got married in Las Vegas on Halloween 2015. During our wedding dinner, my sister and I went to the ladies room and realised the fire/smoke alarms were sounding. We were in a restaurant in a casino idk which one. Anyway, we couldn't even hear the alarms in other areas and only a couple other people seemed to notice. Pretty much everyone just walked around like nothing was going on, including employees. It occurred to me there how scary and awful something tragic could be compounded by that kind of thing. Also, while we were there I kept thinking about anything that could go wrong and how crazy it would get, like if we all would have had to evacuate from our tall hotel. I was also glad that the balcony doors didn't have locks, because I was scared about that.

I'm a small town girl, big cities freak me out. This shooting is so frightening I'm still processing.

I was married at the beautiful chapel in Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood on October 1, 2011. My Husband and I spent yesterday celebrating 6 years of marriage and many beautiful memories of our 20+ family and friends, who were there to celebrate. Awaking to this news, back home in Indiana (where I have been obsessed with sleuthing for Abby & Libby) was heart wrenching. I’m so down and just hate this world we live in and wish I could help make it a happier place. Love to you all!! We have to promote the good in life!
