There is, but not with respect to licensing requirements. In actuality, you need to have two permits to work as a security guard in a casino within Las Vegas. One is the state PI card that all security guards in NV have to have. The other is a card issued by LVMPD.

Typically security guards carry weapons. Someone posted a link way back that hotel's provide unarmed security officers with only 40 to 50 hrs training iirc. That says to me the role of JC was much different than say an armed security guard who provides actual protection. Also somewhere buried it was stated JC's job required him to alert the hotel security team, who as I understand it are armed. I wonder if the refererence to JC being a "security guard" is somewhat misleading as it appears his job was more so the eyes and ears for the hotel's security team?

ETA: but if the public believes he was an accredited highly trained security guard, perhaps there's some misplaced judgement directed toward him that he should have done more to prevent the disaster? I just wonder.

Someone didn't want JC to talk to the press.

Probably his lawyer, and if so it was good advice. Hannity was probably ready to ambush him with questions about being a "terrorist" or something equally ridiculous. With a big investigation going on and wealthy hotel owners doing damage control over lawsuits, the employees should cooperate with the FBI and stay out of the news media. Standard legal advice, IIRC.

^^^^^ Very Important info to remember throughout this investigation. All information should be scrutinized with a
thought "Who would this information benefit'? Is it logical? Is it believable? What is source of info? etc.

Knowing what I know about sheriff now, everything he says henceforth, I will take w/ few grains of salt.
Indeed, that is why you see a lot of scrutiny and extraordinary questioning that may offend some posters, or even be taken as snark...
I will put it this way, at WS we are known by our "forum names, and pictures", some of us have even have a certain signature sarcasm, kind of like an accent if we were speaking in person... Behind all of that, are real people, with real life experience, some of us actually do some type of
" investigational activity" in our professional life [emoji102][emoji102][emoji102].
My point is I do not think anyone that has currently commented is a real life conspiracy nut job! Not intentionally, we all have our quirks, faults, personal baggage etc . , however,no matter what our nation's current political environment has become, I truly believe the majority of us on here, just really want the truth, and nothing but the truth...

Conspiracy theory. Referring to some of the rumors on the internet that are way out there and potentially harmful to innocent people. Can't figure out why some of them are zeroing in on the poor security guard. JMO Stephen Paddock killed these people, no one else. I trust what the FBI is saying in this case. I'm content to let them finish their investigation.
I rarely trust the fBI, though I kinda liked the 'deposed' former head..
They tend to make a balls of an awful lot of investigations.. the Mateens is a case in point.
I dont know if her file is still sealed but they sealed it when there was no good reason to do so.
The problem with letting them finish their investigation is that they rarely if ever finish anything, they just seal it all up and take themselves off..

They're a tad short in the interpersonal skillset as well.
They make secrets.
Then they take ownership of the secrets and resolution for all and sundry rarely if ever occurs.
the case of YingYingzhang is one such case,, appalling and awful..

They're not cops and they dont have cop training. Or cop ethos, the good kind..
I consider them to be somewhere between inept and useless.

No , we are not but there is a massive collective shock worldwide when events of this nature occur. We are not immune or unaffected either.
The trolls are soul less ghouls, they lack an ability for empathy sympathy and rapport.
An event of this nature and scale is a massive event.
a reasonless massacre..
Its an event that is without catharsis.. no light at the end of the tunnel, no solace in sight, nobody who has preceded, like in an act of terrorism and has found peace some time later ..
If he was a terrorist, we do not know it
If he was a madman, we do not know it
If he did it on behalf of some group or entity, we do not know it

Its quite terrifying.
Nobody is unaffected.

Seriously the worse thing we can be doing right now is taking on trolls or cT's.. they are vampires and we are providing them with blood by paying them any attention at all.

See them for what they are- abhorrent elements of nature.
Dont even bother hating them.. theres no substance to hate
its like hating briars or nettles.. useless waste of time.
Excellent post! Pick your battles wisely!!! I choose not to even waste my energy!

Or we can discuss benign questions about his union affiliation. As the admins have said, if you have a problem with a post, report it. Don't tell people how to post. This will be the last I say on the subject of you accusing people of conspiracy theorizing. I'm just going to start reporting.
Luv it !

So if his paperwork was not correct, it would have implications for the insurers?
I do believe so... Checking on some things.

BBM

In the state of Nevada, there are both armed and unarmed security guards. Both have to register under the same board.

They have their problems, but in this case they seem to be the only ones who don't have some conflict of interest. Local LE is tied to the local politicians and all are tied to the wealthy casino owners. There are already problems in some early facts and timelines. The 60 Minutes interview is still shocking. JMO, in this case the FBI is all we have. They're familiar with LV, Reno and the casino industry. They know the "players" and how the industry works. They certainly have a lot of tools and experts at their disposal.

This was just like a sudden thought

If we all think about it all timeline stuff--is really about sheriff,FBI and hotel .

It is a distraction -it really only about blame and or money.

and again in reality were right back to "follow the money"--where was it coming and going to? We know it was going for guns and going in and out of casinos- that really all we know

We know he loved to tell everyone how rich he is , but money wise he kept low profile -- no mansions, flashy cars etc etc Some incoherency there

anyone heard anything about the sec guard?

e want to know info about him and event - lets see if today they do something other than the "timeline"

Shooting range is interesting to me

Net worth is interesting

mental is interesting

when was safe obtained

more about his house being broken - no reports of damage or if anything was taken -people don't break into places to do nothing.

They broke in through front door -- seems kinda riskier than a back window??

what the medications plural were

tox

the timeline is only about money really.......
What safe CarIIS?

Are we sleuthing the security guard who got shot? I get too busy to pop in for a few days and now I'm completely lost in the sauce. Drowninggggggg
No Tawny we are not... We are sleuthing the Las Vegas shooting, we have 4 different official timelines from the powers that be, the number 200 that keeps popping up, 2 adjoining rooms with a dead 60ish professional gambler with long arms, bad eyes, a taste for valium, and a non submissive Filipino girlfriend... Got any more sauce?🤤 I know it's early but " sharing is caring [emoji16]"

This is true.
But was not impressed by the public contradiction of the Sheriff, I dont think he's clean or anything, but it was a tad juvenile.. Theres a helluva lot of broken people knowing that life will never be the same because it was so easy for this to happen and there was really no way to prevent it- their priority when speaking publicly should first have been to attempt to acknowledge that and attempt to reassure the public.. instead they snarked Sheriff.. it was highly irresponsible.
Its worrying.
sheriff dept is lead here..
unless it becomes a federal case..

Story has completely fallen off drudge? Such bizarre coverage of this thing. All the questions we're wondering about aside, scary and sad that we are now so desensitized to these types of incidents as a nation that it can be forgotten so quickly by us.
I take notes, have not forgotten, neither have the victims...

We need to think about this

wow Delta and Seals all them agencies should be recruiting 64 yr old, fat, out of shape guys, who loves flip flops, in possible possession of Valium, who gambled all night and fatigued , who might be hungover, using less powerful guns than the delta swat guys use, able to figure out trajectories, (how he knows how many feet the 32 nd floor on a hotel is in height ), in the dark , from the 32nd floor, at angles ,in smoke filled rooms , not disoriented from noise and smoke ,

whose heart did not fail ,in a sweltering room , probably sweating to death, had the strength to hold one of them aggressive weapons ( the delta guys are i shape ), not experiencing arm muscle fatigue when what he has done for the last three decades is lift his arm halfway way up, sit on his tushie hour after hour, not setting off the sprinkler system (the carpet was fabulous dahling),somehow disable the flashing strobes on the smoke alarms.

That is one heck of an accomplishment for a 62 year old fat dude .

gun lovers here -- could you do that ?

Just asking a question. Where did you read that he "somehow disable the flashing strobes on the smoke alarm"?

Going back to the beginning of this story, it was said the fire alarm in his room told them what room the shooter was in. It goes off to alert the front desk, the manager, and a few seconds later into the fire department. If the room alarm isn't turned off in a specific amount of time, the main alarm on the floor goes off. Some hotels have alarms that go off in every room on the flooor too.

Curiosity as if this is still another change in the story is the only reason I am asking.
