From 2:51 - 2:55 in this video, it looks like you can see a plane taking off from the airport. If you look on the roof of the stage, the plane passes from the left to right. The shooting had just started so the airport was probably unaware of just how serious the situation was. I'm sorta surprised that Paddock didn't try shooting at the planes. Anything would have been possible with a psychopath like him. JMO

It's 2 miles between Mandalay Bay and McCarran International Airport. 2 miles.

This is slightly disturbing.

ETA - ok so you figured out the date by comparing to the weather reports? Am I reading that correctly?

actually as incredible as it sounds that it is not accurate!

they left the airport operating

I am into aviation

there first divert was not until an insane 69
minutes after the first shot was fired.

2 minutes later they landed an aircraft

21 minutes later they landed another aircraft

the actual long shutdown was even after that

that night i was shocked when i finally heard that the airport had been entirely shut

it was LATE!!

here are actual landing/diverting times

http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-las-vegas-airport-delays-shooting-20171002-story.html

and yes the 737 has amazing go around ability

I have seen them live - they are actually riveting

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uX3W-xcTJqs

As concert-goers fled to McCarran and other locations on the Las Vegas Strip, controllers continued to warn pilots that the confusion on the runways caused by the shooting may affect arriving and departing flights.

it blew my mind -- and the airport was quite busy prior watching the tapes they were busy before they kinda shut it down

it was not a shut down till ages later ages ......

a real shutdown is formal -- they were chatting back and forth a formal cessation of operations was not till way later

it was kinda like !

we got a bunch of people on your runway be careful !!

and then the we got active shooters on the runway!!

and then kinda like well there is a mass shooting going on ya want us to to change your runway

then it was like ( this was a departure ) we got a bunch of people within the airport itself give me a minute I am gonna try to get you guys out of here !!

then it was like to the dude that works for the airport that was on the runways checking the runways

it was as absurd as all the rest of it

find the
LAPD helicopter tracks -- I am trying -- things become much more sinister

chilling stuff my friends ............

The LV airport covers 2,800 acres (11.3 sq.km.).
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/McCarran_International_Airport

It consists of two separate terminals. The newer, Terminal 3 is a long way from the hotels on the Las Vegas Strip.

"Stewart’s colleagues, the air traffic controllers union and the Federal Aviation Administration credit her dedication and efforts to changing the helicopter departure paths that fly right over Mandalay Bay."

Does the airport require an enhanced disaster plan? Maybe so if we are to believe airport security has no direct connection with LE, or if the shootings were initially perceived as a terrorist thread. However a sniper shooting at planes from miles away, that's not what happened here. Other than what's gleaned from media reports, McCarron airport is not obliged to disclose inside information to the public.

Wasn't this incident horrific enough? It's easy being a couch-side critic but why didn't they do this or that, how is that helpful and what does that prove? Just curious.

When did Tucker stop wearing bow ties? It hasn't helped, JMO. Why does he hate union workers so much? He's only being nice to the local union leader because he wants to use him to get information he can twist against JC. Does the union leader not realize he's being used by someone who hates union workers?

Also, why is Tucker and conservative cohorts trying to demonize JC just because he has family that are from Mexico? The cruel attacks on this man are beyond the pale.

I know it's hard for some people to accept that the domestic terrorist who did the mass murder was a white, wealthy conservative, gun-loving, country western music fan who liked to gamble in Vegas. But you're going to have to learn to live with that. It has happened before and will again. Domestic terrorists come from all kinds of backgrounds.

Good point, they should be considering a new disaster plan following the investigation. Sadly, that's usually what it takes - a disaster.

Given the close proximity of the very tall MB building and the outdoor concert venue to the airport, the city/county should also consider restricting weapons from those areas. Any time you have those kinds of public locations in close proximity to a major airport, it will require some safety restrictions. Most airports have some kind of safety barrier around them, but the development in LV seems to have swallowed up any buffer zone around their airport. Understandable considering the high price/high demand for LV real estate, but it comes with consequences to protect the public.

It appeared SP's gambling habits were to frequent various casinos as at one time, according to his brother Eric, he had top star status at several of them. But the CEO of Wynn Resorts stated SP was not a winner at his hotel in a news report that I linked earlier today.

The apparent discrepancy is probably due to the relative size of whales. According to the FBI, though SP was recently recorded as winning or losing up to 100K during a gambling session (maybe even more in a past rarer “mega session”). His average win / loss was probably 20-30K.

This made SP a comped “small whale” in the gambling universe hierarchy. A comped small whale can be a star at one level of casino, but also be comped though far less noticeably at another level of casino such as the ubber upscale Mandalay Bay where whales may swim in pods.

Then factor in relativity in perception. SP’s siblings seem to have more limited incomes. Thus, SP receiving a certain level of attention and a certain level of cool comps from well dressed casino managers, acknowledgment as being “the Man” from waitresses, and SP’s ability to “call the shots” at a casino may have been seen as impressive relative to family income and doubly so given an apparent pre-disposition to admire alpha male shot callers, it was also relative amongst “whales”.
A gradual downhill slide?
If there was a decline, it was slow. Another poster cited an FBI reference that SP was not in debt and always repaid his “markers” (casinoese for personal credit IOUs) promptly.
ETA: not to be cynical but "in good stead with the casino.." means to me that he was losing more than he was winning. Casinos would go broke if the odds were in favour of people winning.
Casinos place a lot of emphasis on long term averages for all their customers when managing risk. Nearly all gamblers lose in the long term (some far faster than others). Then factor in that banning customers for superior play is bad for business as word gets out.

As a result, some casinos may decide to “eat” losses from the occasional smart video poker / slots guru who after years of mind numbing play, has learned enough of the changing software algorithims to gain say, a 1.0% advantage if he is playing perfectly and if he is on a machine he knows. It is better just to change machines- but not too often as this is considered "unfair" by the "pros" and word gets out, or upload new algorithms during maintenance periods.

As a side note, I read a sad account of a former surgical nurse (intelligent) turned video slots addict. Like SP, she spent years on the machines. Eventually , she was able to gain a small advantage over the casinos if she knew the machine, if she played perfectly etc. Anyways, the casinos tolerated her winnings (if helped that she did not have the cash flow to really win big), and only banned her when she and a boy friend started offering classes to other zombies that were too well informed for casino comfort.

Interesting insights. Thanks! Even though some might master the algorithms and manage to eke out a 1% win over the house, it doesn't seem likely the gambler wins in the long run. I realize a lot of these people brag, but outside of comps, I imagine they're still losing money over time. That's probably why LV still keeps them around.

I am not defending CT peeps but I do keep an open mind when it comes to big government & what they are capable of doing and why.
There’s good reason to be inquisitive.
Scandal after scandal....investigation after investigation.

Crikey, we just released the JFK files 50+ years later.

So I say to everyone, question away. Yep. But never harass.

I definitely agree that we need to keep an open mind and should always ask questions when what we're being told doesn't add up. I'm a firm believer in the notion that we should never believe anything that goes against our own common sense. There are still a few questions I have about how this event unfolded, as well.

I just have a hard time understanding the logic of those who think the whole thing is fake. I know the government is powerful; I just have a difficult time believing it has the power to completely stage a tragedy of this magnitude without the truth being revealed.

This is really informative.
I just do not understand the 1% advantage.. what does it mean? (I dont know poker or any card game) Is it to do with predictability? Or inherent patterns within the machine itself/
When I lived in Greece I used to spend time with the old men playing backgammon- they were considered genius.. they could actually predict the dice... the odds on getting a 6 and a 2, for example..
But they were humans..

I just wanna dig Paddock up.. at this stage I dont care about planes, conspiracies false flags daeshbags or any of the intercurrent theories..

Who was this guy. Apart from what he did in casinos?
What motivated him?
Why was his final act not a gamble too?
