Heading to bed with a heavy heart. Sad that people can hurt others with such deliberate acts of violence. There are no words for doing that with a child in the car. Glad to hear the 6 people who were critical are now stable. There emotional scars will forever run deeper than the physical scars. My thoughts and prayers to all the victims, witnesses, families and first responders. Extra prayers to the person who lost their life tonight and to their family. What a horrible event. To have it be at Christmas time, is truly tragic. My girlfriend and her family were at that exact spot one hour prior, celebrating her hubbies bday.

OMG - the woman helicopter reporter said she was mowing down people like "bowling pins." Where does Vegas get their reporters? Shameful!

  • #63
Confirmed the 3 year old child in car was the drivers child.

I heard her. I finally had to turn it off. Shameful is the appropriate word!

This is very similar to that odd woman who drove into the College Homecoming parade a few months ago. So tragic and weird.

Deja Vu.

Terrorism Ruled out in Las Vegas Strip Crash That Killed 1, Injured 36
By DEAN SCHABNER EMILY KNAPP, ABCNEWS

In their most recent press conference, officials ruled out terrorism as a possible motive, but still believe the incident may have been intentional. The driver was being tested for alcohol and controlled substances, officials said.

Police: Las Vegas Strip crash ‘may have been intentional’

"She said most of them are adults, but an 11-year-old is among the victims and is listed in serious condition. She said many of the patients are from Montreal, Canada."

Sounds like she could argue that it was an accident, and then she hit more people when she tried to get away from the people who were trying to break her windows.

I don’t think I believe that myself, but she could argue that.

Yes, she can try to argue that. But I think one can get away from people easier by driving away on the streets instead of driving up another sidewalk curb into 10 more people.

Woman intentionally crashes car on Strip, 1 dead, 36 injured

Police have now confirmed that the crash was intentional.

According to Las Vegas Police, a black woman in her 20's driving a 1996 Oldsmobile hit the sidewalk between the Paris and Bally's at 2 different locations. The driver has been arrested and a 3-year-old in the car with the driver is unharmed. 6 victims are still in critical condition and 1 person has died.

Witnesses reported that people tried to stop the driver and that her windshield was completely smashed. She fled the scene and police caught her at Flamingo and Koval. She was barricaded in her car and refused to come out for a while before she was arrested. Her vehicle has Oregon license plates and it is believed that she has been in Las Vegas for about a week.

I'm in Vegas right now, my sister and I are staying a block away from Paris. Everyone is talking about this, guests and employees alike. At first I assumed it was accidental, as DUI hit and runs are (sadly) not uncommon here. I'm absolutely shocked that it apparently was intentional. I really want to know what she said to LE that led them to announce that. I suspect we'll learn more in the coming days. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this. :heartbeat:

More than 20 people are reported to have fallen victim to a major accident near the luxurious Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Conflicting reports are coming from the scene, which has been cordoned off by police.

. Local NBC reporter Gerard Ramalho cited police sources as saying that a vehicle had driven up onto a sidewalk and into a large group of people.

just learned about this lots of numbers what is someone sense of how many actual hurt

One would think by this time, we have had just some observational notions by LE as to her state. I would assume somoeone who runs over 37 human beings, if substance related, would have to be pretty "buzzed" and behave in a way congruent with being impairing- especially by folks who roadside determine if they want to test for substance on the side of any road.

I dont think "results" are time consuming - you exhale, and go home or to jail - prettty stright forward?

Yep. I am disgusted and angry. And, she had her toddler in the vehicle. Witnesses said she sped up and there were things she said that made the police believe it was intentional. She was not from Vegas. They already know she was only here for a week, so they know her intentions.

humm....you think she might have just come to LV to do this? Ugh boy................premediation changes this if it turns out to be an element of this mess...........

Is this motor vehicle the new weapon of mass destruction ?
Just goes to show that if someone is determined to kill, they will find a weapon .
We live in a scary world, friends. :(

Boy, they were quick to jump out with 'this is not a terrorist attack'. If you intentionally drive up on a crowded side walk and run over people, is that not a attack to terrorize people?

Just terrorizing folks for the fun of it isn't technically a "terrorist attack". You have to terrorize them to promote a political or social agenda.

Big difference between a random crazy that kills a bunch of people and someone doing it to promote a specific ideology.
