I'm not very familiar with the tunnels in Vegas, but I have read a lot about people living underground in the past in NYC, and it seemed to have been an entirely separate society. I imagine with the pandemic, the ability to break away and go unnoticed in some of these situations has more so.

WARNING: There is a postmortem photo at the link of one of the decedent’s tattoos. Her skin is shriveled and decomposing, so it may be graphic.

On August 2, 2021, an informant notified the police department of a body they found in an underground tunnel.

The decedent is described as a white woman of unknown age. Her hair and eye color is unknown. She was 4’11” (150 cm) and her remains weighed 55 pounds (25 kg).

The decedent had a tattoo of Jesus with “God” written above it on her left calf, a tattoo of a cross on her breastbone, two tattoos of a purple and black floral type design on her left breast, a tattoo of what looks to be a bird? (Can’t tell because decomposition) on her right upper arm, and another floral type tattoo on her right breast.

I do think this woman was religious, so if she was local I think even after 2 years someone may recognize those tattoos, especially at church.

I do somewhat agree with the tourist thing. Could definitely be one, that might be why no one recognizes her, she could be from a whole other country!

Tourists don't generally end up in the tunnels. They're for flood control, and there's a whole population of homeless people living in them. Two of them died during a storm while I was out there last summer.

It's so brutally tragic that anyone's life would reach a point where their best option is living in a f'ing underground tunnel. It breaks my heart that this woman had to live like this.

I’m thinking kicked out of house/apartment, lost job, maybe got those tattoos done in high school or college then dropped out which led to her being unemployed and unable to find housing. Especially that tattoo of Jesus on her leg is quite large so probably pretty expensive. I do agree with posters. Probably homeless. Since she was likely a transient it’s likely that she’s not known to the people in Vegas unless she’s lived there for a while, like a couple months or years.

Might be a stretch but Andelka Morariu? She’s a little taller than Jane Doe at 5’1” but it is plausible that Jane Doe’s height is not 100% accurate due to the state of decomposition that her body was in.

Andelka went missing from St. Pete, FL 2/28/2020. She was 62 at the time meaning she’d be about 64-65 on the date of Jane Doe’s discovery. She’s a white female, again, 62 at the time, 5’1” and 100 pounds with strawberry blonde hair and brown eyes. She doesn’t have any tattoos listed but again, Jane Doe has tattoos on her chest and it’s not likely that people look at the chest that often so they probably wouldn’t notice, as well as on the calf, likely covered by pants. Now as for the arm, that could be noticeable but it’s the upper arm, so could be covered or simply not listed.

As for the weights, if anyone says they are off, Jane Doe’s body is decomposing so she lost some weight, that’s why I said her remains were 55 pounds, since she weighed more in life, I’m assuming a healthy weight for a 4’11” woman, which is about 90-120 pounds on an average build. So it is plausible that she was 100 pounds in life, but dropped to 55 as a result of decomposition doing its thing. Otherwise if she were recognizable at 55 pounds she would be starving and would have likely been on her deathbed anyway. So this is assuming Jane Doe was a healthy weight, again.

However, Andelka wears glasses and there is no mention of Jane Doe having glasses on or near her. It could be possible that glasses may have been found in the area later, since people find random stuff in weird places all the time.

It’s probably not her but I’m suggesting her as a possibility. Andelka was seen coming home from work and was not seen since 2/28/2020. I can imagine someone going from FL to NV on their own, just for the sake of it or just to start a new life. Though who would do that in their sixties? Probably not her, but if she does get ruled out that’s one more step closer to finding out who Jane Doe really is and giving her family some closure.

Maybe she OD’d or just plopped, medical emergency? Perhaps dehydration or lack of food, exercise, just nothing besides sitting there wasting away, though she probably was an OK weight so not really wasting away, as her remains still weighed 55 pounds even in that state of decay and mummification. Maybe she took her own life? Sad situation and I really do want to kind of put myself in her shoes and kind of see what she may have been going through. I hope this woman is at peace now.

RIP, Jane Doe. I may not know your name, but someone out there is looking for you! I promise, you will get your name back, hopefully soon, and peace and closure will be with your family and friends. I know you are still waiting for that day all the way up there, light years away from us, but our message and our prayers are with you, we want to know who you are. I guess it's just really unhealthy conditions to live in. She could have easily got an infection/sickness living down there and passed away from that. Yeah, this case really sticks with me.
